What’s so special about Cambridge Raincoats?

There is so much that’s special about these coats it’s difficult to know where to start! 

The idea for Cambridge Raincoats was conceived in the early 1990s by a Cambridge-based cyclist who didn’t want to wear sporty clothes or ugly waterproofs – or look like a cyclist when she got off her bike - Cambridge Raincoats encourage the use of bicycles for transport & a greener, cleaner, safer world.



Cambridge Raincoats come with a pedigree: - our Ladies’ Retro-style was designed by a Savile Row-trained tailor who previously studied architecture at the University of Cambridge. Our London-based manufacturer makes for top British labels synonymous with quality & style e.g. Mulberry, Burberry, Margaret Howell, Aubyn Wills. The rainhats are made by hand in Scotland.



We are concerned with quality and believe it to be more economical for you in the long run and better for the planet; that’s why we call them “investment pieces”.



We produce classical chic styles which can be dressed up or down and won’t date easily (no point it lasting if you go off the actual style!)



Our embroidered reflective panels have been designed by an RCA textiles artist & are unique to us. They can be sewn to the reversible cuff straps, back belts & collars for extra night-time safety.



Being made in Britain means we minimise our carbon footprint, don’t exploit cheap labour but do generate employment & maintain skills in the UK.



We use high-performance fabrics which are lightweight, breathable, cold-weather proof and washable as well as waterproof.



Our jewel colours not only brighten rainy days for the wearer, they also mean when you’re riding a bicycle in traffic or crossing a road, drivers notice you long before they get close enough to hit you.



All our coats and hats have our signature polka-dot linings to brighten your days, no matter how dull the weather.



Our coats have deep pockets inside and out to carry all your paraphernalia.



Our Ladies’ Retro-style raincoats are long enough to keep your legs dry when riding an upright bicycle but not long enough to get caught in the back wheel – we give the skirt a deep inverted pleat at the back to allow room for leg coverage when sitting down.


