uyers and brands are preparing for the debut of Harrogate Fashion Week (HFW) this month – the first industry trade show to take place in the town in over 15 years. The two-day event, which will open at the Harrogate Convention Centre on Sunday 29 July, is completely dedicated to helping womenswear indies excel. Visitors can expect to find handpicked collections from new and emerging brands alongside free entry, parking and WIFI. The event’s organisers are placing the emphasis on quality over quantity, bringing together a unique edit of highly commercial international brands that promise to help indies secure those SAVE THE DATE Next season’s all-important sales next Harrogate Fashion season. The way forward is to engage and build relationships with customers. And in order to do this, indies need to have the solid backing 54 | boutique. | July 2018
of their trusted suppliers.” Alongside its brand lineup, organisers say HFW will offer a personal show experience that is more attuned to what indie buyers want today: “I see an almost 180-degree shift in the way that people in our industry now want to do business,” says Moody. “Whereas we’ve been through a phase where more impersonal environments whether physical or virtual - have been acceptable, I think there’s a definite move towards smaller, more personal scenarios where buyers can have real conversations with real people in a relaxed and beautiful environment.” She adds: “Business seems to have stopped being pleasurable. At Harrogate Fashion Week, we’d like to make it an enjoyable experience again.” Situated in the heart of North Yorkshire, the picturesque spa town of Harrogate is a popular destination for business and leisure. Buyers can

choose from a wide selection of chic hotels and HFW’s official partner, Reservation Highway, has negotiated deals and discounts for attendees. What’s more, there’s a 25 per cent discount on Virgin East Coast trains with regular connections from Leeds and York (visit the website for more details). Those arriving by car will have access to free parking while those coming from further afield can fly into Leeds Bradford Airport, which is only a 20-minute taxi ride away.
