BEER AND CIDER
Redchurch Brewery has introduced its very first New England IPA, a style of beer defined by its hazy appearance and tropical fruit notes. Launching across London at Craft Beer Co sites, Neipa is a vegan-friendly 6% ABV New England IPA, made predominantly using experimental hop variety denali, as well as American hop simcoe. The IPA features next to no bitterness, combined with earthy pine notes followed by a huge hit of tropical pineapple. A Cornish premium craft beer, with two expressions cut with either natural peach or elderflower, has arrived in London. Inspired by the tradition of Demi Pêche, a popular ski drink from the Alps, Jubel sits between the beer and cider categories. It is gluten-free, vegan, and at only 125 calories a bottle and 4% ABV, an altogether lighter lager. Jubel Alpine has a distinctly peach aroma, while Jubel Urban is naturally infused with elderflower. The two lagers are light and balanced with low bitterness and a lasting fruity or floral finish. Following its rebrand last month, Badger Beer is tapping into the growing popularity for IPAs with the launch of The Wicked Wyvern, a West Coast-style IPA. At 5% ABV, The Wicked Wyvern is brewed with amarillo, cascade and mosaic hops. The new beer is described as deep bronze in colour with a citrus aroma of zesty grapefruit, a bitter hop character and a dry hoppy finish.

SECOND ADDITION TO CURIOUSER & CURIOUSER RELEASED Curious Brewery, owned by English winemaker Chapel Down, has announced the launch of Curiouser & Curiouser: Chapter 2, a limited edition saison that is available to the on-trade. The release of the elderflower saison marks the second addition to the brewery’s Curiouser & Curiouser series of limited edition batch beers, each produced with a winemaker’s twist. The 7.3% ABV beer recreates several of the modern classic English grape varietal, Bacchus. These notes are complemented by the dry and fruity qualities of Brew By Numbers’ house saison yeast, which are amplified by the delicate vinous, floral and soft fruity notes of hallertau blanc and huell melon hops.
Estrella Damm champions Mediterranean origin in new campaign Estrella Damm has unveiled a new campaign to inspire the on-trade to champion beers brewed at origin. Entitled Brewed in Barcelona, the campaign brings Estrella Damm’s provenance and authenticity to life through branded informative keg tops and further information being distributed among bar staff. This is supported by consistent messaging on POS materials and is backed by two new appointments, a quality manager and quality trainer, to support wider trade education. James Healey, UK country manager for Estrella Damm, said: “As our keg tops read, it is not easy to find an imported beer that is still brewed at origin, but we guarantee that our beer is always brewed in Barcelona. “There is a huge opportunity for Mediterranean beers in the UK at the moment, so it is the perfect time for us to proudly celebrate our authenticity with the trade and inspire them to do the same with their customers.”
SHEPPY’S BOTTLES ITS FIRST LOW ALCOHOL CIDER Somerset cider makers Sheppy’s has recently launched a new Low Alcohol Classic Cider. With only 0.5% ABV, the traditional cider “remains true to Sheppy’s cider making heritage and methods,” but with a lower alcohol content. Sheppy’s Low Alcohol Classic Cider is made with a carefully selected blend of Somerset’s traditional and dessert cider apples and has been introduced to meet today’s changing consumer lifestyle choice. Six generation master of cider David Sheppy said: “We spotted the growing trend for low alcohol as consumers’ lifestyle choices are changing. People like to enjoy a drink or two but are looking for options with lower alcohol that still taste great and are made well. “Our new cider offers all our craft credentials: flavour and excellent quality, with a lower ABV.”
