CIMA’s Research Initiative As a world-leading authority, CIMA’s research programme is specifically designed to promote and develop the science of management accounting. Our position as the voice of global management accountancy is enhanced by our research programme, which generates cutting edge, high calibre and authoritative results that have immediate practical influence and value. This year, CIMA is therefore looking to fund innovative research that challenges and offers fresh perspectives on a range of topics that are of interest to CIMA members. The research findings should be of value to both businesses and academic communities globally, and any case studies may be drawn from both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors.

This initiative has no specific topic, though applicants may wish to consider aligning their project to one of the following themes:

• Awarded grants are typically between £5,000 and £40,000 depending on the scope of the project and its outputs

• Corporate social responsibility • CFO priorities • Future of management accounting • Valuing talent - cost of losing and retaining talent • Tomorrow’s finance talent and competencies • Strategy, risk and opportunity management • Resilient business models • Managing mega data • Cloud computing, IT and its impact on the profession
