W hy did you join Obelisk?

I joined Obelisk when I got an email saying that I got “Obe-fied,” which I am thankful and honored to recieve. I liked writing articles, although I never considered myself a writer because I grew up writing originally for school essays and research. I was also part of journalism clubs in my elementary and high school, so I decided to give it a try.

W hat’s your best memory in Obelisk?

One of my best memories with Obelisk would be the awards night with Troi and Chi as the hosts. It was my first time joining an award night in Obelisk too. It was memorable because I had so much fun socializing and getting to know different people inside the organization.

One particular activity that I so vividly remember was the 2 truths, 1 lie game where each of us had to share facts about ourselves and let others guess which one is a bluff. After that, I learned so much interesting things from my org mates, some of which made me go SHEESH (which cannot be disclosed here for privacy reasons lol), and I enjoyed hearing their life stories too.

I also remember playing spymaster with everyone, where one of us has to guess who’s the spy by throwing questions to each other. The spymaster had to guess what object are we referring to, and it’s hilarious how we make it sound as if the object has some shady innuendo while we try to keep a straight face to throw as little clue as possible. I’m impressed how ate AB was able to guess it correctly despite our effort to make it sound misleading, but I still hold grudge to those who voted me out believing I was the spy haha.

Lastly and the most memorable part of the event is the officers bidding farewell as they step down from their positions. The way the hosts thank the officers for serving Obelisk by putting their portraits beside flying doves plus a white staircase and a cloudy sky backdrop as if they were on a Filipino funeral tarpaulin had me in tears laughing. Not to mention, someone had to play Maalala ala mo kaya while the officers say their goodbyes to everyone (bawas points tayo sa langit).

Although I didn’t win from any of the games, the experience makes a good prize, and that’s more than enough for me. It was one of my treasured memories of my college life.
