As Graphic Design Students, there will always be someone or something that inspires us to pursue this career path; the reason that pushes us to reach this goal. Discover what inspires our graphic design students to pursue their current goal.

“It all started with my brother who introduced me to graphic design. I didn’t know much about it and I never understood its importance. When I learned more about it, I was able to realize that it can be seen everywhere and anywhere on the streets or even on your phones. It inspired me to learn more and pursue this career because of how fun it is to think and create interesting art for people.”

“I loved collecting magazines like Total Girl and Candy Mag when I was younger. I enjoyed reading them and I realized that half of the fun was because of the eye catching layouts, so that really got me interested in graphic design. I also learned HTML coding to decorate my Tumblr account so I guess I just love designing in general. I find the way that design can communicate messages, stories, and ideas in a visual manner fascinating, which is one of the biggest reasons I chose to pursue graphic design.”

“To be honest, nobody inspired me, I just enjoyed making cute posters when I was in high school so I decided to pursue graphic design.”

“I was raised being the one who pastes borders for my mama’s manila papers before she writes on it. As a kid, I’m really fascinated by how creative she is and with it, she mixes everything that her hand touches to have the most incredibly designed output. Lately, she tells me how talented I am with my art skills but in reality, I am also amazed with how great she is at what she does and at inventing her own designs.”

What inspires you in creative your journey?

“When I was still a kid (maybe 8 or 9), we had this desktop computer in our kitchen. Every day, when I went home from school, I’d turn it on and play with the built-in MS Paint and Microsoft Word for HOURS. I used to paste a photo of myself on the canvas, then I added designs like glowing spirals, big glasses, and text with an eye-straining color because it was fun at the time. From this, it evolved into Pizap and BlingIt until it became Photoshop and Illustrator!”

“My interest in graphic design originally started when I got into k-pop as the music genre did not only show me a new type of music but got me into the different aesthetics and concepts per comeback/debut as well. As a generally creative teen, I remember stanning SEVENTEEN at only 13 years old and seeing how their social media posters, albums and merch were designed beautifully, carefully curated to the theme of each comeback. I realize I aspire to have that same direction with my creativity and want to develop my skills in branding sense and awareness like the k-pop industry’s creative artists who don’t only stick to one style but can be flexible to suit each comeback.”

“The best inspiration why I’m pursuing to be a graphic designer is my family, I motivate myself by always setting a goal to help them for their needs. I also get inspiration from my friends who always support my creativity along with theirs.”
