Here are some notable graphic design trends on the rise this year.

1

The grunge and rock and roll styles never really left the radar. From punk rock band posters in the 1970s and 1980s, the Anti-Establishment took over as this art style served to rebel against unjust social systems through protest materials. This art style consisted of DIY cutouts, double exposures, collage-like layouts, paper rips, graffiti, and grainy textures to bring back the punk subculture.

Two-dimensional sketches will look more realistic thanks to the advancement of three-dimensional design.

Software like Adobe, Maya, and Blender are accessible for aspiring 3D artists to experiment. And in today’s trends, we see 3D art used everywhere: from distinctive advertisements to striking illustrations. With its tactile look, any bubble or fluffy-looking art will make you wish you could hold them!

There have been loads of fonts made throughout the years, and there are a lot of fonts to choose from. But what if you customize an existing one? Expressive typography is the new hype; making unique shapes and incorporating them into texts to make them eye-catching are inspiring artists more and more. Say hello to geometric and creative serifs!

Holographic Surrealism

The category is Outer Space. The Holographic surrealism art style will take you to a futuristic universe with iridescent visuals inspired by science fiction. This design is evident from the concepts of your favorite K-Pop idols like Aespa and NCT. It’s attractive to everyone who wants to bring their imagination to different heights with its holographic patterns and shiny textures to neon colors.

Risograph Resurgence

Vintage Minimalism

Sometimes the most simple and basic design is the only thing you need. Vintage minimalism brings back the nostalgic feeling of when everything was handmade. Similar to the punk revival, this art style also uses paper textures to give its vintage feel. With pops of bright colors inspired by the 70s, muted pastel colors, font pairs, and a simple layout, minimalism is back and here to stay.

There are more graphic design trends out there for you to discover. And as we all know, trends come and go, but that does not mean they go out of style. For the most part, old trends make a revival. And we LOVE a comeback, don’t we?

So get out there and try these art styles (or discover a new one!)

It’s safe to say that printmaking design is coming back with Risographs, a high-volume printing process through stencil and ink, manufactured by the Riso Kagaku Corporation in Japan during the 1980s. Similar to screen printing, risograph prints have the advantage of producing more vivid colors and unique textures. Today, this style resurges where artists make risograph effects on their works to make them look like the real deal Riso printing.
