Happiest Moment with my Blockmates. one of the reasons why our block became close with each other, we were able to see each other’s skills and talents, and we get to know one another. I, myself was able to share my knowledge and creativity as well. This is the first time that we got to perform live at CIIT, it was indeed very memorable. - Nicolas

Nine Hours of Spontaneity. Magpasikat, the most memorable event that pulled batches together. I remember formulating and brainstorming plays that relate to reality that we could perform. Truly a unique experience since what we most expected is that we’d be immersed in illustrating, never knew we’d be the spectacles of art that day. -Yae Miko Before the COVID-19 pandemic, a competition event for the FRESHIE was prepared where multiple GE subjects collaborated in order to bring out the competitiveness and creativity of every block and student, and that event is entitled, MAGPASIKAT.
Since FRESHIE during the academic year batch of 2019-2022 was in a block section, they were given a special test where multiple GE subjects involve as their final examination for that semester. They were tasked to prepare a creative performance that holds meaning and a unique concept. It was refreshing to see especially when each block displayed a creative concept where some sang, some acted, and some even dance.
For me, magpasikat is one of the highlights of my college life. I feel like I’m back in high school again. Sa mga practices before the performance, mas naging close ko yung mga classmates ko and the day mismo ng performance or event was extremely memorable. I was really amazed when I watched other sections’ performances and their efforts. - sui

Performing Through Wit, Happiness, and Impact. For our block section, the Magpasikat event will always be a memory we reminisce about from time to time. Despite the seriousness of our topic wherein, we tackle the deceptions of the government through larong pambata, we dropped the goal of winning and let ourselves enjoy and be crazy with our whole performance. We supported each section that performed, cheering for them because we knew everyone gave their very best in their performances. The Highlight of Our Freshman Year. Magpasikat really strengthened the bond of our block. Even if may friendly competition, meron paring team building kasi kanya-kanyang ideas yung bawat performance. Bawat block may ibat-ibang pakulo tsaka core memory namin siya bilang freshmen. Sobrang malaking tulong din yung walang rules sa performance kasi yung students yung mismong nagiisip kung paano nila gagawing creative yung performance nila. - arachnid The Greatest Show! Magpasikat was one of the best experiences in my college life as I lead the whole block into performing as one. Though there were ups and downs throughout the process since I’m not that perfect as a leader due to my strict way of monitoring causing some quarrels, some fun quarrels that strengthen the bond of our block. Some even joke that during practice time, I always become a ‘dragon’ due to my voice and firmness. Yet, because of this event, I’ve met those OG college friends that I have! To block ‘Freedom’, ‘Walang Juwa’ pips and ‘Titas of Kamuning’ gals, tara shot! - BossMadame One of the highlights ng schoolyear! One of the best highlights talaga from F2F classes yung time namin for Magpasikat. We all came together talaga as a section para makagawa ng routine na we could really be proud of. Honestly, wala akong gana gumanon nung narinig ko na meron event for that kasi like hello? parang SHS “pressure from class adviser” all over again ah. Pero the Magpasikat event talaga is something that I treasure kasi walang competitiveness on our part talaga and we all just had fun and we grew closer to each other as a section and as friends. Still think we shoulda won doe pero... jk HAHAHA... unless… Welcome to CIIT! One of the most stressful yet delightful activity I’ve ever experienced when I was still a first-year student at CIIT. Magpasikat is an event that really helps the students to practice their social skills through learning how to collaborate with other students despite their differences. This kinda feels like a “Welcome to CIIT event” for the freshies, it gives you this vibe that feels like an initiation for you to become a certified CIITzen. - Deadkid Pwedeng (not) again?. Having the Magpasikat as one of our activities was a complete experience when it comes to collaboration, cooperation, and getting to know your block mates well! People get to push boundaries of their skills and talents that was able to showcase in the event. Despite of its setbacks on the preparation and unwavering kalokaness, I loved our creative output that made me love my block mates more than what they can contribute to the class. - Gandara Yern

Art Supply Spots That Every CIITzen Should Know
The face to face life is slowly opening up for us again, CIITzens! And with it comes the classroom and practical classes that we enroll in. Many of us here are interested in art and as we begin our journey in CIIT, we all have to learn in the traditional way first before we transition in the digital world. As a companion for your journey, you must be equipped with the right set of materials in order to properly produce your artistic tasks. And with that, we have gathered some of our most trusted and go-to art supplies spots for traditional art! Whenever you have your first set of Drawing and Art Fundamentals classes, you most likely will often hear the holy trinity of art supplies from your instructors. This trinity is the “Joli’s, Jomar’s, Joyce’s” combo! These three stores are all located near and around the University of Santo Tomas or UST. They may be far from our campus, but they sure have a lot to offer! All three of these stores offer a wide variety of art supplies ranging from the typical pencils and sketchpads, down to the more intricate and uncommon supplies such as erasing shields, alcohol markers, and blending stumps. UST’s College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) and College of Architecture pushed these stores to exist; and now, they not only cater Thomasians, but art students from other universities and colleges as well. Aside from the said holy trinity of art supplies, we must also recognize the stores located on big malls and urban areas. First off in this category Art bar is an art store that specializes in the higher end of the traditional art supplies spectrum. They might not have the same amount of variety that Joli’s, Jomar’s, and Joyce’s have, but they were able to offer high quality and branded art supplies. But since theur products are often high end, their prices too fall on the higher side. The nearest Art Bar branch from CIIT is their Quezon Avenue branch, so make sure to give them a visit when you can!

Another art supplies store is Deovir Arts and Crafts Supplies. Most of what they offer are painting related. They have different sets and brands of paint, different canvases, a wide variety of brushes, and even a roster of canvas easels. If you have an interest in traditional painting, make sure to try them out! They have stores located on SM North Edsa and SM Megamall! Deovir
