JANUARY
Fri 26th January 2024, 7:30pm £15 / £13 Members Price Paprika is the UK’s leading Balkan band. It consists of an accordion, violin, guitar, and percussion. This electrifying group fuses together Eastern European, Balkan, Gypsy and Classical music in a whirlwind performance of frenzied virtuosity. Fiery melodies and foot-tapping rhythms are interspersed with lilting laments in high-energy sets from this exciting group.
FEBRUARY I’m Glad I Asked Fri 9th February, 7:30pm £14 Adult This funny and tender one-woman show was drawn from workshops with women that asked, “What would you like to ask or have asked your mother?”. It reflects Michele’s own lived experiences with her 91-year-old Mother, Gena (represented by a life-sized puppet) and the impact that her mother’s dementia had on both of their lives. Through a truly personal and generous piece of storytelling theatre, Michele O’Brien explores the joys, heartaches, shared memories, love and conflict that binds generations together to convey a universal tale for all to enjoy. 4

Be sure to pack your imagination and join us on an unforgettable journey to Moominvalley where everyone is welcome, nature thrives, and adventures are plentiful. Based on the much-loved novels by Tove Jansson, this theatrical experience for children aged 3 – 7 years is a delightful show full of magical puppetry, an ingenious pop-up book set, original music, and interactive storytelling.
Ronnie Scott’s: Soho Songbook Sat 24th February, 7:30pm £25/£22 Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club return to Cidermill Theatre with a stunning collection of music, narration and projected archive images and footage, celebrating Ronnie Scott’s ‘Soho Songbook’. Featuring classic music from the jazz greats – and in particular the legendary vocalists - who have performed at Ronnie Scott’s, alongside narration and projected archive images and rare footage from the club, ‘The Ronnie Scott’s Songbook’ is a glimpse into this unique world and its incredible history. Hosted and performed by the award-winning Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, led by the Club’s Musical Director, this is a unique evening celebrating the music and history of Ronnie Scott’s and is a must for any music fan. @cidermilltheatre

MARCH Swing from Paris 2nd March, 7:30pm £18 Often described as ‘the finest gypsy jazz in the Cotswolds’, Swing from Paris are a UK quartet of violin, guitars and double bass. Inspired by the great swing bands of the 1930s and ’40s, they present their own versions of music by Gershwin, Piazzolla, John Lewis, Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli. They’ve been seen on the BBC’s Hairy Bikers, and have appeared at major jazz festivals including Cheltenham, Brecon and the Django Reinhardt Festival at Samois sur Seine. Expect stylish jazz and vintage swing.

Mark Thompson’s Spectacular Science Show Sat 9th March 2024, 2pm £17 / £15 Designed for children and adults alike, Mark’s Spectacular Science Show explores the strange and magical properties of matter with exploding elephant’s toothpaste, vortex-generating dustbins and even howling jelly babies! Awarded ‘Best Kid’s Show at Edinburgh Fringe’ by The Derek Awards, this interactive show promises to entertain and educate in the most spectacular way! Mark Thompson, a renowned astronomer, and presenter, brings his unique blend of enthusiasm and expertise to the stage, captivating audiences with mind-blowing demonstrations and jaw-dropping experiments.
Jungle Book 24th March, 2pm Jungle Book- £12 Adult, £7 Child, £28-£35 Family Inspired by Kipling’s novel and themes of climate change, inventive shadow puppet theatre, original music and mesmerising colourful projections take you on a magical journey. Jungle Book is from Indigo Moon Theatre’s portfolio of universal stories that embrace innovative approaches to storytelling. The show brings issues around our natural world and environmental responsibility to life for younger children. Aimed at ages 4 to 11 years. A warm-hearted production for all the family.

Sat 27th January 2024, 7pm £12-£17 Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale) plays Gareth Southgate in James Graham’s (Sherwood) gripping examination of nation and game. The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss. Why can’t England’s men win at their own game? With the worst track record for penalties in the world, Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt, to take team and country back to the promised land. Filmed live on stage at the National Theatre, Rupert Goold (Judy) directs this spectacular new play.
Fanny: The Other Mendelssohn
Plus Live Q&A with director Sheila Hayman and Charlie Bennett Thur 1th February 2024, 7.30pm £13.00 Adult / £7.50 Child (under 16) The film reveals the extraordinary story of Fanny, a composer long sidelined to her famous brother Felix by the guardians of classical music, who despite being forbidden a musical career persevered, composing 450 works in her short life. Fanny’s lost masterpiece, ‘The Easter Sonata’, is brought to life by virtuoso pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason. As she explores the music, the parallels between her life and Fanny’s – including the challenge of being a pioneer with few role models in classical music -become clear.

Sun 28th January 2024, 2pm £13-£22 Rusalka, a water spirit, lives with her family in the pure waters of the forest lake. When she falls in love with a Prince, she sacrifices her voice and leaves her home in the hope of finding true love in a new world – a world that does not love her back. Natalie Abrahami and Ann Yee create a poetic, contemporary new staging of Dvořák’s lyric fairy tale, revealing our uneasy relationship with the natural world and humanity’s attempts to own and tame it. Semyon Bychkov conducts an all-star cast featuring Asmik Grigorian (Jenůfa) in the title role. 10
Sun 11th February 2024, 2pm £13-£22 This adaptation of Abbé Prévost’s novel embodies Kenneth MacMillan at his best, his acute insight into human psychology and his mastery of narrative choreography finding full expression in the impassioned duets of the central couple, visceral and urgent in their desire. The heroine’s struggle to escape poverty make Manon one of the most dramatic and devastating of ballets, emphasized by Nicholas Georgiadis’ evocative designs that reflect the juxtaposition between Manon’s impoverished origins and the lavish world she longs to inhabit. The 2023/24 Season celebrates the centenary of Nicholas Georgiadis.

Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition
Tues 20th February 2024, 8pm £11 Adult £7.50 Child (under 16) The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam is currently putting on the largest Vermeer exhibition in history - it will never be repeated. Tickets are now completely sold out for this once-in-a-lifetime show, making Exhibition on Screen’s Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition the only way to see this historic exhibition – in UK cinemas 18th April. This stunning documentary film invites audiences to a private viewing of this spectacular exhibition on the big screen, accompanied by the director of the Rijksmuseum and the curators of the show.

Fri 23rd February 2024, 7pm £12-£17 Andrew Scott (Fleabag) brings multiple characters to life in Simon Stephens’ (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) radical new version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. Hopes, dreams, and regrets are thrust into sharp focus in this oneman adaptation which explores the complexities of human emotions. Filmed live during its sold-out run in London’s West End, Vanya will be playing exclusively in cinemas in 2024.
Tues 26th March 2024, 7pm £13-£22 When the young geisha, CioCio-San, marries American Naval Officer Pinkerton, she believes she is entering a real, binding marriage for life. Forsaking her religion and community, she learns all too late that for Pinkerton, their marriage is merely an illusion – with tragic consequences.
With a score that includes Butterfly’s aria, ‘Un bel dì, vedremo’ (‘One fine day’) and the Humming Chorus, Giacomo Puccini’s opera is entrancing and ultimately heart-breaking. Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier’s exquisite production takes inspiration from 19th-century European images of Japan. Asmik Grigorian performs the role of Cio-Cio-San, with Kevin John Edusei conducting. A co-production with Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona.
ROH: Macmillan Celebrated
Sun 14th April 2024, 2pm £13-£22 Danses Concertantes, commissioned by Ninette de Valois in 1955, was MacMillan’s first major work. An early sign of the incredible artistic output that would follow, the work’s critical success spurred MacMillan to abandon performing in favour of choreography. It is followed by Different Drummer, MacMillan’s complex and haunting balletic interpretation of Woyzeck, Georg Büchner’s play about a soldier’s descent into madness. The mixed programme concludes with Requiem, his 1976 work for Stuttgart Ballet, created in memory of its late artistic director, MacMillan’s friend and former Royal Ballet dancer and choreographer John Cranko.
ROH: Swan Lake
Sun 28th April 2024, 2pm £13-£22 Classical ballet’s most powerful tale of love, treachery and forgiveness returns to the Royal Opera House stage.
