Do you have your asbestos management plan?

Have you had an asbestos survey carried out and do you have an up to date asbestos management plan?

Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations (2012) places a responsibility on “duty holders” to manage the risk from asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) within their non-domestic premises, and this includes church buildings. If you have a responsibility to maintain or repair a church building, either because you own it or have a tenancy, you would be considered a duty holder under the legislation. Therefore, you have an obligation to comply with the legislation and this involves ensuring that you have carried out an asbestos survey and have in place a current asbestos management plan for the premises. The plan will note the locations of any ACMs known or suspected to be present, along with their conditions and any ongoing remedial action required. The plan should be kept up to date, and made available when required to any third party, such as contractors, staff or volunteers who are working on the premises.
