ALIENATION OF PRODUCTION VS BODIES AS TEMPLE// GYMNASIUM IN ANAKLIA Nominated for Ackroyd Lowrie Prize (Most innovative project) & Make Architects Prize (Consistent excellence of MArch I & II) Oxford Brookes University MArch II (DS3) Tutor: Charlotte Grace, Maria Alexandrescu, Evelina Gambino, Cíaran Malik, Charles Parrack, Louis Schulz Location: Anaklia, Georgia DS3 is a studio confronts the imaginaries and materialities of power built by architectural and territorial projects. We unpack architecture’s role as an instrument of political agency through reading of the site at a multitude of scales.

This project focuses on workers in the port, the frontier users facing global logistic development. It is argued that objects are alienated and dismantled, follows by bodies, with history of conflicts & tensions in different scale. Logistic line and production process not only dismantled commodities, also workers, their conscious and their bodies are being dismantled. Commodities are made in separate process and traded to other places; At the same time, production lines split jobs into meaningless tasks.

The Gym reunites workers with their bodies and with each other. It addresses the abandoned and not yet developed promenade into a public gym. It is acting as a gateway between two tensions. This project argues that gym is between a stage and a festival space. It aims to (1) specialize the various stage for bodies; (2) encourage users see themselves, others and find other seeing them; (3) recognize their bodies as a whole by recognizing the bodies of others as your other.

8. REGENERATING FARMHOUSE AS COMMUNITY FARM// PATTERN OF LANDSCAPE Oxford Brookes University MArch I Tutor: Juli Wedel, Sam Woodbridge, Matt Gaskin Location: Alboraya, Valencia This project is in a specialized research-studio, IARD (International Architectural Regeneration and Development) led by Dr Julia Wedel and Sam Woodbridge, Director of FOUNDED Architect.

The project attempts to regenerate a ruined farmhouse “Alqueria�, a Valencian vernacular architecture, to a Community Farm. It originates from a reading of the primal landscape in Aboraya and try to emphasize the importance of agriculture. In there, landscape is no longer the decoration of architecture, the two are equivalent and cannot be separated. In this design, different patterns of layers and screens, that extracted from the landscape, are injected in-between visitors and landscape, generating varying degrees of porosities, proximity and transparency of landscape view and space.

9. ARTIST VILLAGE IN HOK TSUI/ DETOUR City University of Hong Kong BArch Y4 Tutor: Dr. Stefan Krakhofer Location: Hok Tsui, Hong Kong This project is drived from a master plan of a artist village, that collaborated with Ahamed Imba Junaid. It proposed using a new route connecting exhibtion space, studio and open space wtih the old village together. The planning focused on encouraging visual connectivity and promoting the light and shadow artworks.

The building design than attempted to strengthen the human perspective and emphasize the relevance between light and shadow, bright and dark experience.

10. THIRD - AGE COMPLEX/ VERTICAL CITY IN MONG KOK City University of Hong Kong BArch Y4 Tutor: John Cheng Location: Mongkok, Hong Kong The project attempted to bring back the interactions between elderly to society and environment, as well as emphaise the importance of elderly to our society.

The design wants to re-inhabit the lower zones of a building and inject much-needed life back to the spaces near the street. It also explored the permeated threedimensional form as an enhancement of social interaction and health conditions of the living environment. Open space are plugged into different level in a chaotic and spiral way to increase intra-level interactions.

11. BAPTISTE DEBOMBOURG MUSEUM/ MUSEUM FOR SINGLE ARTIST City University of Hong Kong BArch Y3 Tutor: Dr. JAILLON, Lara Celine Location: Ngau Tau Kok, Hong Kong This project aimed to create a museum for a particular artist and using the architecture lanauage to synchronise thier artwork. It located on a triangular site in Ngau Tau Kok. It only would exhibit the work of Baptiste Debombourg, who is a installations artist, mainly design lots of medium to large size fragmental installations.

The design of museum intended to use the element of his artworks, fragmented glass to create space and atmosphere so as to make visitors feel similar fragmental experience during getting into the museum.

12. PINOCCHIO CHILDREN’S LIBRARY Young Architects Competitions MArch I Collaborated with Bill Yau, Shook Yen Yap Location: Pescia, Italy This project attempts to translate the story of pinochio, the adventure of his growth Into a sequence of imaginative space. Trying to reflect pinochio’s bravery spirits and his learning path for the children visit the library.

The journey begins with a brdige connects to the paper factory which has been convert into a mix-use of library and outdoor exhibition space. Visitors will then experience the spirit of adventure through a sequence of homogeneous indoor and outdoor space.

An underground tunnel is designed to anticipate and raise the sense of courage of the visitors when they travel within outdoor and indoor Spaces. Passing though the tunnel, the second library is a hobbit-alike underground building with entrance and exit on the tufing above. This project hopes to deliver the message hidden within the story of Pinochio to the visitors, a journey of growth.

13. ZHONGSHAN TOWER CONCEPTUAL DESIGN Freelence conceptural design MArch I Client: Sanwa BioTech Limited Location: Zhongshan, China The project attempted to connect with the site surrounding where a famous river located, using wave and fluidity as an inspiration of this two building form, one as a factory and the other as a office tower.

This freelence project lasted for 5 weeks, aimed at producing 6 visualizations in total.
