A crisis film

The animation is pristine. The accompanying music is catchy enough. The visual element is undeniably good. I shed a tear however I think it's just emotional manipulation and I don't see this cartoon affecting anything on a grand scale. Is the point to wallow or IS this activism?

Easily the best by Steve Cutts. We know how humans exploit nature and we have seen a lot of short films about it. Steve Cutts himself has made a short film Man (2012) on the same subject. But something interesting transpires, humans and animals switch roles. Animals learn how to use nature and start treating humans as trash cans. A very interesting idea, indeed, and it's made beautifully. Very impressive.

LYRICS:

My heart is free

My heart is free

No place where I would rather be

My heart is free

My heart is free

Until you come to rescue me

You find me here

You find me here

You dry my eyes and shed a tear

You turn me bad

You turn me good

Forget to hope and learn to fear

CHORUS

Tell me that it's good

If we do something

Believe in something

I don't think I should

If it aint nothing

If it aint nothing good

My heart is free

My heart is free

No place where I would rather be

You find me here

You find me here

You dry my eyes and shed a tear

WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE ENVIRONMENT?

Humans impact the physical environment in many ways: pollution, population loss, burns in nature, etc…

● Global Warming From Fossil Fuels

Carbon dioxide levels are rising a lot. Rising greenhouse gas emissions have led to a rapid increase. From Australia and the United States, they experience some of the most devastating bushfire seasons ever recorded. For the first time, in many countries the temperature has risen a lot and even in Antarctica, the temperature rose. You can see that a lot of ice is melting and polar bears are in danger.

● Food Waste:

About 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted or lost. This is enough to feed 3 billion people. Food waste and loss account for one-third of greenhouse gas emissions annually. A shocking amount of food is wasted for aesthetic reasons; there are countries like the United States that dispose of food because they consider it "ugly" which is equivalent to about 60 million tons of fruits and vegetables. This leads to food insecurity, another of the biggest environmental issues on the list.

● Biodiversity Loss:

They have seen rapid growth in human consumption, which has resulted in humanity using more of the Earth's resources than it can naturally replenish. It was found that the population size of mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians has experienced a decline. The report attributes this loss of biodiversity to a variety of factors. Animals such as sharks and seahorses are greatly affected by the illegal wildlife trade.

● Plastic pollution:

Approximately 14 million tons of plastic reach the oceans each year, damaging the habitats of wildlife and the animals that live in them. If no action is taken, the plastic crisis will grow to 29 million metric tons per year by 2040.

There are more than 12 problems in the environment that we need to resolve as soon as possible.

WHAT WE CAN DO TO IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT?

TRAVEL RESPONSIBLY:

You can travel from one place to another by first seeing which is the best transport. Transport is one of the things that most pollutes the world, it would be better to go by bicycle, to foot, etc. Also it’s better to go with public transport, it’s helpful for the environment.

REDUCE YOUR WASTE:

We need to make the waste of our resources even unacceptable to our lives. Every product we buy has an environmental footprint and could end up in a landfill. The impact of plastic pollution on our oceans is becoming virtually apparent.

RECYCLE:

If you recycle, our environment will improve. You can recycle once a week, you are still helping our earth.

WATCH WHAT YOU BUY:

We can all be more aware of what we buy and where we buy it. Other than that, buying less will save us money, reduce waste, and improve your environmental footprint. Living a less consumerist lifestyle can benefit you and our planet. Make sure your money goes to positive change. By supporting eco-friendly products that are less harmful to the environment, you are encouraging companies to source and produce their products sustainably.

DO NOT WASTE WATER:

Water is the most valuable resource on the planet. Water is transported for miles when you literally have one closer, it is drinkable and does not pollute. In rich countries hundreds of liters are consumed per day while in other countries, water does not even have access. In addition, it is better to consume plain water and not bottled.

DON’T WASTE FOOD:

As much as technology advances, food is not infinite. It is better not to waste food and share it, you can find many foods in good condition in the garbage as soon as there are people who die of hunger. If possible, consume organic and local food that comes from afar contaminates a lot.

“Remember, we only have one earth.”

“The Earth offers us what is necessary for our needs, but not for our greed.”
