Message from Camp Director

Thailand Youth Choral Camp started in 2016 with the purpose of building a choral community among youth through a week-long camp spent rehearsing a program for a culminating concert. We work toward choral excellence, providing the campers with the best choral experience we can under the direction of Dr. T. J. Harper, our staple guest conductor.

Our campers this year are from Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Mahidol University, Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, Rangsit University, Srinakharinwirot University, Horwang School, and Triamudom Suksa Pattanakarn School. Many of the campers had never sung in a choir before joining this camp. Their steep learning curve over the past week truly makes us proud.

Nothing is more rewarding than watching students come together over the course of seven nights in the camp each year. However, this year is especially meaningful as the Portland State University Chamber Choir spent four nights at the camp rehearsing with us and will share the stage tonight under the direction of Dr. Ethan Sperry.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to the success of the camp. Thank you for believing in these young choristers and for your support of choral music at Chula.

Until next time, Dr. Pawasut Jodi Piriyapongrat
