ith the incoming 2021 school year, the staff and students gave a warm welcome to the new building addition, announcing it officially with a ribbon-cutting. In addition to all the staff and students that attended the ribbon-cutting, President Susan Harmon of the Jefferson County Board of Education also attended this exciting ceremony. “The way that the building was structured there was something for everyone and that was kind of what we wanted,” Harmon said. The new gym opens many more opportunities to the students, including more practice hours for the athletes and longer preparation times for clubs that didn’t have enough space or time in the old gym. This is also along with more space for events with the community. “I think the new gym is very cool. I haven’t used it yet, but I was in there in the very beggining of the school year and I think it’s really nice,” said freshmen Dylan Panarello. On the day of the opening of the new auxiliary gym, freshmen had the opportunity to become acquainted with the school and the classrooms, and to familiarize themselves with their LINK leaders, providing them with the oppurtunity to catch up with friends and to make new ones on the way for their future years at the highschool. The freshmen played games and did activities their leaders planned out to help them get to know one another, such as team bonding excercises that helped them interact with one another. LINK leaders gathered for meetings and freshmen gathered for greetings, telling stories from summer and catching up with one another. Between exciting new starts and a thrilling pep rally, this school year had it all.

It was nice getting a tour of the school and meeting new gym and the new people.
