Building on our strong creative heritage, we provide students with exceptional opportunities to develop their talents across drama, music, dance, art and photography. Our creative curriculum is enriched through workshops, visiting professionals and industry partnerships that help students understand where their talents and interests could take them in the future. Whether stepping onto a stage, performing in an ensemble, creating artwork or exploring digital media, students are encouraged to express themselves, take creative risks and develop confidence in their abilities.

Learning Beyond The Classroom Life at CHS South is about much more than lessons. We believe that enrichment plays a vital role in helping young people develop confidence, character and a sense of belonging. Students can take part in a wide range of clubs, activities and experiences that allow them to explore new interests, develop existing talents and build lasting friendships. From educational visits and leadership opportunities to creative workshops and community projects, our enrichment programme encourages students to embrace new challenges and discover what they are capable of achieving. These experiences help students grow as individuals while creating memories that remain long after they leave school.
A broad, ambitious curriculum designed for every learner.
SUPPORT THAT HELPS EVERY STUDENT SUCCEED. At CHS South, every student matters. We recognise that young people achieve their best when they feel safe, valued and supported. That is why pastoral care sits at the heart of our school community. Every student belongs to a tutor group led by a dedicated Form Tutor who provides daily guidance and support. Alongside our wider pastoral teams, tutors help students navigate both the opportunities and challenges of school life. We are proud of our inclusive culture, where respect, kindness and empathy are visible in everyday interactions. Our SEND team works closely with students, families and staff to ensure that all learners can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. By creating an environment where every student feels known and supported, we help young people grow into confident, resilient and successful individuals.

HELPING CHILDREN FEEL CONFIDENT FROM DAY ONE. Supporting Every Step Moving from primary school to secondary school is an exciting milestone, and we work hard to make the transition as smooth and positive as possible. Our dedicated transition programme helps students build confidence before they arrive, ensuring they feel prepared and supported from their very first day. Working closely with local primary schools, we provide transition activities, school visits, induction events and opportunities for students to meet staff and future classmates.
Families are central to this process. We believe strong partnerships between home and school create the best possible foundation for student success. At CHS South, students arrive knowing they already belong to a supportive and welcoming community.
