What’s poppin’ Clark Key Club! Welcome to the sixth issue of Charger Territory! I hope you all are doing well and are enjoying what our club has to offer! This month we held events such as Spread the Word and Opportunity Village, and recaps of those events are in this issue! We also recently appointed this year’s class representatives, so make sure to congratulate them!

We have a busy month ahead of us, with many more service opportunities and RTC approaching. It’s been really great seeing everyone attending service events and seeing the overload of spirit at the events and of course while practicing RTC cheers.

I’m so grateful to see so many members that care for service and this club, so thank you being you :D I hope you guys have an awesome rest of the month, study hard, stay hydrated, and never stop helping out your community! <3

Hey Clark Key Club! I hope everyone has enjoyed participating in our fun filled service events from Opportunity Village, to our Kiwanis Golf Tournament. As RTC is nearing, (yay!!) please remember the purpose of everything we do at Key Club and the significance that it has on our community. Training events such as RTC, and our other weekend events such as Opportunity Village, might just seem like a fun time in retrospective, but the service we offer to the community and the skills and experience you learn from these events can be impactful for a lifetime. Please keep this in mind as we continue to go back out and serve weekend after weekend. I hope this can convince you all to stay volunteering with Key Club. Thank you for all you guys do, and I chrysia-ppreciate you all! <3

I really enjoyed this event, it's one of my favorites of the year to be honest. Last school year, not too many people signed up, but I'm really happy that a lot more people took an interest in this event. I think the organization's cause to provide books to schools is so beneficial to the Las Vegas community. inspiring if you will. At the event, volunteers (including other key clubbers from different schools!!) helped sort and organize donated books and clean them to be shipped out to schools. I also remember helping to stack the books into the boxes that would be sent out. It was oddly satisfying work, trying to fit the different sized books neatly into the boxes. It wasn't the most exciting work, I'll admit, but the vibe to the whole process is just really unique. Sifting through boxes of books, it was hard to not get distracted by wanting to flip through their pages or admire cool book covers. The occasional familiar fantasy novel even brought up nostalgic memories of reading them in middle school. It was an all around great time, the two hours spent there flew by. I highly recommend going this event in the future and supporting their cause!! :)) â&#x20AC;&#x201D; IVAN GUERRERO

kiwanis golf TOURNAMENT

On September 21, 2019 Clark and Southwest Key clubbers had a wonderful opportunity to volunteer at the Kiwanis Golf Tournament. The start of that day at 6am was eminently pleasing with an aesthetic sunrise and a cold breeze. After about 30 minutes we started heading to our holes we were assigned to IN GOLF CARTS. I thought that was pretty cool seeing that Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve only seen them in High School Musical. Heading to my hole with my group was quite an adventure with our rollercoaster ride going down steep pathways in the car. When golfers approached the starting point of our hole we had to keep a sharp eye out for where all the balls were hit by the players. In the first range of hitting the ball it was my partner and I. It was extremely difficult to see the ball, but this event actually increased our skills to look out for the smallest objects. We got our workout in by running across the huge field retrieving the ball. After we retrieved the ball we would hand all the out of range balls back to the players. The players were extremely nice and had some interesting conversations. This one player even let us keep the ball ! Overall, I had fun especially with my partner chilling out in between groups, eating our delicious snacks, and collecting golf balls for hard working golfers.

This was my first time attending the Kiwanis Gold Tournament event and it ended up being really fun. I was really nervous at first because I never really played golf or watched golf ever, so I was really scared that I was going to pick up the wrong ball or miss a ball. However, in the end, every one of the golfers were really nice and were super grateful for our help. I also got to meet a new key clubber ! There were basically different holes and each hole was assigned with 2 or 3 ish people and a junior from SWCTA was assigned with me. She was super nice and sweet. Besides this, one very very important thing I learned for next year was to definitely check the weather because I was freezing my butt off in the morning of the event and I wished for a jacket or something warmer instead of a t-shirt and shorts. â&#x20AC;&#x201D; SELINA YE 9

VILLAGE This is my first year in Key Club, and although Opportunity Village wasn’t the first I’ve gone to, I’d like to consider it as one of the funnest ones! I first worked inside, cutting and coloring skulls, and it was pretty fun talking and seeing whoever had the better skull. Then, eventually we took a break and after our break I was able to help work outside and we tested out inflatables, which were cute and big!! The adults and other helpers were nice and welcoming. Overall, Opportunity Village was a great opportunity to help out and feel responsible while doing it with friends and it was just a fun event that was worth going to!

Opportunity village was a really enjoyable experience where I got to not only help out my community, but enjoy spending time with my friends. The first task given to us was coloring skulls in, cutting them out, & punching holes through to make them hangable. Just something about coloring things in a peaceful relaxing setting gives me nostalgia of a time before a typhoon of homework hit me 25/8. Next, my friends and I were trusted with testing out Christmas & Halloween inflatables and sorting the damaged out. Not only was I able to be productive & helpful, I was also able to have fun taking pictures with the inflatables. Lastly, I helped to move boxes from place to place, also finding out that I should gain more muscle.
