What’s up Clark Key Club! Welcome to the second newsletter of the term!

Wrapping up the school year has been stressful yet really fun, I hope you all ended the year on a good note as well.

Now it’s summer break, and I hope you guys are having an awesome time so far. But even though the school year ended, that doesn’t mean service does!

We will be providing a couple of events over the summer, so please check up on our socials and remind so you can sign up for them! Planning for our annual summer social has also begun, and I hope to see you guys (and hopefully some incoming freshman?) there!

Once again, I wish you all a great summer break! Stay safe, stay hydrated, and have fun uwu.

Hello Clark Key Club! I hope you’ve all had enjoyable summer so far and are staying hydrated in this heat! This month, we had only a few events as the school year was winding down, so I hope those of you that attended Relay For Life had a good time. Thank you to everyone that continues to keep up with everything going on within Key Club as we try to be as active as we can within the community while also enjoying the break. So, please look forward to our new announcements in the coming weeks about what’s new for the club, including our summer social in early July! Love you all, and if you’re travelling anywhere in these coming months, safe travels! I chrysia-ppreciate you all <3.

FOR LIFE This was my third year attending Relay, and it was pretty chill compared to past years. At the beginning of the event, we sold 7 Leaves boba and we managed to sell all of our cups (woo)!

Then as the night progressed, there were many other activities going on, including the opening session, buying food other clubs/groups were selling to raise money for the American Cancer Society, listening to cancer survivors and their families, and much more.

Once we started to get a little bit tired, we hung out in our tents, playing some jams on the ukuleles and guitars some of us brought, made ribbon leis, and had some good conversations haha.

Then when morning hit, I was pretty exhausted but it was all for a good cause, and Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m looking forward to attend my last Relay next year. â&#x20AC;&#x201D; KAYLA ARCANGEL

Overall relay this year was pretty fun. This year, relay was hosted at Silverado instead of the usual Spring Valley which was a little bit farther then usual. As officers we knew that after the overnight stay, we have officer training and that we might be a little tired from relay. After selling out our boba, we walked around the track together or alone simultaneously throughout the event to signify that cancer never sleeps. At around 10 PM I said I was just gonna take a 5 minute nap and I ended up sleeping through the entire thing. And I oop...

Relay For Life was a look into not only how different schools come together, but also a look into what life is like for people who suffer from cancer. It put into perspective what it was like to constantly be fighting a disease, and hearing what it was like from cancer survivors was emotional. There was one instant where the lights were all turned off, and we walked in silence. It was quiet and it really made me think about just how much cancer impacts my life and the lives of other people. But the night wasn’t all bad. A lot like dance marathon, we had fun, too. Besides being able to walk and dance and talk to my friends, the events hosted were sometimes crazy. My favorite and probably most memorable event was Ms. Relay. The guys were all funny and had amazing performances but the best part was during the Q&A two of the guys kissed. Even though sometimes it seemed like we forgot about why we were there, there were always instances where we remembered and worked extra hard to honor those with cancer. For Samantha and I, we walked a crazy amount and I stayed up almost the whole night (sorry, I guess I can’t stay up like I use to), seeing how other people came together for Relay. I can’t often say this about events, that they really come through to me, and maybe that’s on me, but something about

Relay stood out to me, and I truly hope that more people can come out and support one of the few events that meant something to me.

This banquet was a fun one, but a sad one. The board set up an amazing banquet with a Hawaiian/Aloha theme and they did a pretty good job of organizing it. We had to say goodbye to all of the seniors that had been a part of this wonderful club that they could call their family and home. There was also many people who managed to get 45+ hours and get inducted! (Good job, I’m so proud of you guys!) We got to eat some good food and have fun with the seniors at their last key club event! Overall, I really enjoyed this banquet; aloha to the seniors and aloha to this new term and the new memories!

— BETHANY ANTERO The end of the year has come to an end so to top everything off, we had our key club banquet. It was a small cluster of key clubbers. It was nice for all of us to come together and celebrate the numerous accomplishments we made. I am happy through everything our club went through, we were still able to come together as a family. I got closer to people whom I don’t see that often and reunited with those who were with me since the beginning. We enjoyed ourselves with good food and the amazing discovery of our school AC’s power to blow our pinwheels. Thank you Clark Key Club for giving me everlasting memories my sophomore year and awarding me as the member of the year in my year. I can’t wait for what awaits for the next year to come.

QUET

The end of the school year banquet was really fun! We had a really good time looking back on the year and celebrating current and past officers! There was a bittersweet ending, but we all welcomed the upcoming year with open arms. We got to eat ice cream and see members of our Kiwanis family which was really nice. It’s sad to see some people graduate, but it’s great to see them move on to bigger, better things! I hope them all the best and am looking forward to the upcoming school year! Aloha!

— ANGIELENA LUONG The End of the Year Banquet for the 2018-2019 term was a lot of fun and I’m glad I went. There weren’t that many key clubbers that went, but we still had a great time! I was able to get inducted at this banquet and reminisce about our achievements this year. Awards were handed out, gratitude was given, and goodbye speeches were made. They also served great food and had the cutest decorations. It was a great way to say goodbye to the seniors and lead way into next years term!

miracle flights

CARNIVAL

On Saturday, May 18th, officers attended the Miracle Flights Carnival at Craig Ranch Park.

The Carnival offered a variety of food, games, and booths for friends and family alike to enjoy. Clark Key Club’s booth included the popular game of plinko, and we had a great time entertaining the numerous children that stopped by. With moderate weather, and good spirit, we were able to accumulate a multitude of players that amounted into a large profit of $438. Our club was able to gain 50% of that number while the other half got donated towards Miracle Flights, an organization dedicated to providing transport to children in need of medical treatment in far away locations. Overall, it was a very enjoyable event among the officers and we look forward to participating in it again.

The Miracle Flights Carnival was such an amazing experience. The environment was so energetic and seeing all the kids come to our booth was spectacular. Whenever they won a good prize, their face would light up. There were so many people in costumes from star wars to baby shark. Our booth had some of the best prizes for sure. I would

highly recommend volunteering for this event next year and experiencing it for yourself because not only was it a great fundraiser, but also just good fun.
