HOLY GOSPEL OCTOBER - 2026
THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME OCTOBER 25, 2026 “Teacher, which commandment of the law is the greatest?” In today's readings we are invited to be imitators of Christ, invited to become models and examples for all believers. In the book of Exodus, the Lord taught us that He is compassionate, and that He will judge us according to what we have done for our poor neighbors. To love God with our whole mind, our whole heart, our whole soul, and to love our neighbor as ourselves is more an attitude in life than a list of things to do. It has nothing to do with complying with a series of obligations. Loving God and loving neighbors is what makes us who we are. It must be the heart of our daily life, the basis for our decisions, the reason for our prayer, the motivation for our lives. In other words, to fulfill this commandment is to become His presence for others. Love for God and love for neighbors are the foundation, and the inspiration for each other. They must translate in attention for the other. As we celebrate the Eucharist, the sacrament where the endless spring of all love is offered, let us pray that our Lord will give us the grace to understand that to love our neighbor means to do the right thing. It means to see that the hungry are fed and the homeless are sheltered; that the poor have their basic needs met, and the unemployed do not suffer need; that the young are educated, and the elderly are cared for. Today, let us pray to understand that to do less is to fail in our love for our neighbor, and that to do less means that we are not fulfilling the greatest of all commandments, the command that fulfills the whole law and the prophets, the command to love God, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. En este Domingo la palabra de Dios nos invita a ser discípulos de Cristo, nos impulsa a convertirnos en modelo para los creyentes. El libro del Éxodo nos enseña hoy que el Señor es compasivo, y que seremos juzgados de acuerdo con lo que hayamos hecho por nuestros hermanos necesitados.
Trong bài đọc hôm nay Lời Chúa mời gọi chúng ta trở nên môn đệ của Chúa Kitô, mời gọi chúng ta trở nên gương mẫu cho các tín hữu. Trong sách Xuất Hành, Thiên Chúa dạy chúng ta rằng Ngài là Đấng nhân hậu và chúng ta sẽ bị xét xử tùy theo những gì chúng ta đã làm cho anh em mình.
Amar a Dios con toda nuestra mente, con todo el corazón, con toda nuestra alma, y amar a nuestro prójimo como a nosotros mismos es más una actitud de vida que una lista de pendientes por hacer. No es solo cumplir con una obligación. Amar a Dios y a amar nuestro prójimo nos hace ser cristianos, debe de ser la base de todas nuestras d e c i s i o n e s , ra z ó n p a ra n u e s t ra o ra c i ó n , motivación de nuestras vidas. En otras palabras, cumplir este mandamiento es convertirnos en sus testigos delante del mundo. Amor por Dios y por el prójimo son fundamento e inspiración de uno por el otro, e invariablemente deberán convertirse en preocupación por servir a los demás. Conforme celebramos el sacramento de la Eucaristía, el lugar donde el manantial inagotable del amor es ofrecido, pidamos al Señor que nos de su gracia para entender que amar a nuestro prójimo es hacer lo correcto. Significa ver que el hambriento sea alimentado y que el vagabundo tenga un techo; que el pobre tenga sus necesidades básicas cubiertas, y que el desempleado no sufra necesidad, que el joven sea educado, y que el anciano sea protegido adecuadamente. El día de hoy, pidamos entender que hacer menos que esto es no cumplir con el más grande de todos los mandamientos, el mandamiento que resume toda la ley y los profetas, el mandamiento de amar a Dios, y amar a nuestro prójimo como a nosotros mismos. Yêu mến Thiên Chúa hết trí khôn, hết lòng, hết linh hồn mình, và yêu tha nhân như chính mình là một thái độ sống hơn là một danh sách những việc phải làm. Nó không chỉ là thực hiện các việc bổn phận. Yêu Chúa và yêu tha nhân chúng ta trở thành Kitô hữu. Nó phải là nền tảng trong cuộc sống hàng ngày của chúng ta, là lý do để chúng ta cầu nguyện, là động lực cho cuộc sống của chúng ta. Nói cách khác, thực hiện điều răn này là chứng nhân sự hiện diện của Thiên Chúa cho người khác. Khi chúng ta cử hành bí tích Thánh Thể, nơi suối nguồn tình yêu vô tận được ban tặng, chúng ta hãy cầu xin Chúa ban ơn để chúng ta hiểu rằng yêu tha nhân nghĩa là làm điều chính đáng. Có nghĩa được nhìn thấy những người đói được no đầy và những người vô gia cư được nơi cư ngụ; người nghèo được đáp ứng các nhu cầu cơ bản, và người thất nghiệp không bị thiếu thốn; người trẻ được giáo dục, và người già được chăm sóc. Hôm nay, chúng ta hãy cầu nguyện để hiểu rằng không làm đủ bổn phận, là thất bại trong tình thương đối với tha nhân, và không làm đủ bổn phận có nghĩa là chúng ta không thực hiện giới răn trọng nhất trong tất cả các giới răn, điều răn tóm tắt trọn vẹn luật lệ và lời các tiên tri, điều răn yêu mến Thiên Chúa, và yêu tha nhân như chính mình.
