SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT MARCH 1, 2026
HIS CLOTHING BECAME DAZZLING WHITE
In today's gospel, Jesus invited Peter, James, and John, for a prayer session on the mountain. These three disciples were the inner circle around Jesus, the ones invited to share more closely with Him. The disciples' morale was at a low point. They came from hearing: “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
Many doubts were in their minds. Was Jesus really the expected Messiah? Was He really the anointed one of God who is to come? Should we support Him? Or, should we retreat before it is too late? How often do we experience absurdities in our lives that fill our hearts and our minds with anguish and doubts, strong enough to lead us to ask: where is God in our world? In our lives? In our families?
What about people who have experienced abuse, injustice, or discrimination? Where is God when we see people advancing in society through unfair means? How can we explain terminal illness, or the breakdown of a relationship between husband and wife? Between parent and child? Between friends?
In today's readings, there is an answer to all these questions. At times like these, we need to go up the mountain of prayer, and ask God to open our eyes that we may see. Jesus is the light that reveals to us the way to walk with our daily crosses following Him. It is only by His side that we will have the courage needed to overcome the apparently meaningless suffering of this life.

SUS VESTIDURAS SE HICIERON BLANCAS Y RELAMPAGUEANTES
En el evangelio de hoy, Jesús invitó a Pedro, Santiago y Juan, su círculo íntimo de discípulos, aquellos privilegiados testigos de los momentos más importantes del ministerio de Jesús La manifestación divina en la Transfiguración de Jesús es importante porque ocurre en un momento definitivo para Jesús, y donde la moral de los discípulos se encuentra en un punto bajo Ellos vienen de oír “El hijo del hombre deberá sufrir, será rechazado por los ancianos, por los sacerdotes y los escribas,morirá,y resucitará al tercer día.”
Los discípulos dudan. ¿Será Jesús el Mesías que esperaban? ¿Sería El, el elegido de Dios que habría de venir? ¿Deberían de estar a su lado? O ¿deberían alejarse antes de que fuera demasiado tarde? ¿Cuán a menudo pasamos por situaciones difíciles que generan angustia, o incertidumbre, lo suficientemente fuertes para llegar a cuestionarnos: ¿Dónde está Dios en nuestras vidas? ¿En nuestras familias? ¿En el mundo?
En el pasaje de la Transfiguración hay una respuesta a todas nuestras angustias. Cuando pasemos por etapas en nuestras vidas donde parece no haber esperanza, ascendamos a la montaña de la oración, y pidamos al Señor que abra nuestros ojos para poder descubrir que Jesús es la luz que revela el camino para seguirlo a Él cargando nuestra cruz de cada día. Porque es solo a su lado que podremos tener el coraje suficiente para sobreponernos a cualquier sufrimiento en nuestras vidas.

Bài phúc âm hôm nay, Chúa Giê-su đã đưa Phêrô, Giacôbê và Gioan lên núi cầu nguyện. Đây là ba môn đệ thân tín của Chúa Giê-Su, họ là những môn đệ thân tín được Chúa Giêsu chia sẻ sự vinh quang của Ngài. Nhưng lúc ấy, lòng trí của các ông còn rất hoang mang. Các ông không thể hiểu nổi điều tiên báo của Chúa Giêsu: "Con người sẽ phải chịu đau khổ, bị các kỳ mục, các tư tế và kinh sư loại bỏ, phải chết và ngày thứ ba sẽ sống lại.”
Các môn đệ nghi ngờ. Liệu Chúa Giêsu có thực sự là Đấng cứu thế được mong đợi không? Có phải Ngài thực sự là Đấng Thiên sai không? Các môn đệ phân vân họ có nên ủng hộ Ngài không? Hay họ nên bỏ đi trước khi quá muộn? Chúng ta có lần nào đã trải qua kinh nghiệm đau khổ trong cuộc sống khiến tâm hồn chúng ta đầy đau khổ và nghi ngờ, để chúng ta tự hỏi: Chúa ở đâu trong thế giới của chúng ta? Trong cuộc sống của chúng ta và trong gia đình của chúng ta?
Còn những người từng bị ngược đãi, bị đối xử bất công, hoặc bị kỳ thị thì sao? Thiên Chúa ở đâu khi chúng ta thấy nhiều người tiến thân trong một xã hội tận dụng mọi phương tiện bất công? Làm thế nào chúng ta có thể giải thích bệnh nan y đang tự do hoành hành, hoặc sự tan vỡ của mối quan hệ giữa vợ chồng? Giữa cha mẹ và con cái? Giữa bạn bè với nhau?
Trong bài Phúc Âm hôm nay, có câu trả lời cho tất cả những lo lắng của chúng ta, Khi chúng ta trải qua những giai đoạn của cuộc đời mà dường như không còn hy vọng, chúng ta hãy cầu nguyện, xin Chúa mở mắt cho chúng ta nhận ra Chúa Giêsu là ánh sáng soi đường cho chúng ta bước theo Ngài, vác thập giá mỗi ngày. Chỉ có ở bên cạnh Ngài, chúng ta mới có đủ can đảm để vượt qua những đau khổ trong cuộc đời.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTORAL PLANNING COMMISSION
To the faithful of the Diocese of San Jose,CA:
We are honored to present the Diocese of San José 2023 Pastoral Plan. This pastoral plan includes the new mission, values, and vision for the diocese. Additionally, it details the six strategic priorities,their respective goals and objectives, and summarizes action steps —all aimed at spiritually renewing our diocese. The detailed action plans have been entrusted to Bishop Cantú and the new d i o c e s a n O f fi c e o f Pa s t o r a l P l a n n i n g a n d Implementation.
The journey through this synodal process has been both humbling and rewarding. We recognize and deeply appreciate the involvement of hundreds of stakeholders at every stage. Furthermore, our heartfelt gratitude goes to the many laypersons, religious, and clergy whose efforts were indispensable in shaping this pastoral plan They committed significant time and expertise; their names can be found in Appendix C.For a comprehensive overview of the planning journey, kindly refer to Appendix B.
While we desired to address all major areas of concern and need, it is imperative to understand that not every significant aspect can be encapsulated in a single plan. Therefore, certain aspects were prioritized based on the proposal prioritizations from the Synod Assembly, details of which are available in Appendix D.
Lastly, our sincere thanks to Bishop Cantú for bestowing upon us the privilege to contribute to the pastoral plan.

Kế Hoạch Mục Vụ này gồm có bản xác định về Sứ Mệnh mới, những giá trị và viễn ảnh của Giáo phận. Ngoài ra, Kế Hoạch Mục Vụ còn đưa ra sáu lãnh vực hành động ưu
tiên, các mục tiêu liên hệ, và tóm lược các hành động – tất
cả nhắm vào việc canh tân đời sống thiêng liêng trong Giáo phận. Chi tiết việc thi hành các hoạt động mục vụ đã được giao phó cho Đức Giám mục Cantú và Văn
phòng Kế Hoạch Mục Vụ mới được thiết lập Cuộc hành
trình qua Công nghị mà chúng ta đã trải qua vừa là một kinh nghiệm khiêm tốn nhưng cũng mang lại nhiều kết quả. Chúng tôi xin ghi nhận và biết ơn sự tham gia và
đóng góp của hàng trăm người liên hệ, qua mỗi giai
đoạn của công tác này. Ngoài ra, chúng tôi xin tỏ lòng biết ơn nhiều giáo dân, tu sĩ, và giáo sĩ đã giúp cho việc hình thành Kế Hoạch Mục Vụ này Họ đã đóng góp qua những hy sinh rất đáng kể về thì giờ và khả năng. Bảng Phụ Lục C có ghi tên những người đã đóng góp này.

A los fieles de la Diócesis de San José, CA: Nos sentimos honrados de presentar el Plan Pastoral 2023 de la Diócesis de San José. Với sự khuyến khích của Cha Chánh Xứ Hector Basanez và sự ao ước của tôi (Cha Phêrô Phan Thế Lực), chúng ta sẽ lập Đoàn Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể (The Eucharistic Youth Movement) tại Giáo Xứ Chúa Kitô Vua, Buổi gặp gỡ đầu tiên sẽ vào ngày 18 tháng 4 năm 2026 lúc 2 giờ chiều, vào thời gian mới thành lập Đoàn Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể sẽ sinh hoạt một tháng một lần vào Thứ Bảy tuần thứ ba hằng tháng sau đó sẽ sinh hoạt thường xuyên mỗi tuần.

Giáo dục và đào tạo giới trẻ trở thành người tốt hơn cũng như là những Kitô hữu mẫu mực.
Tổ chức và hướng dẫn tất cả giới trẻ trong việc truyền bá Tin Mừng và tích cực tham gia vào công việc vì lợi ích xã hội thông qua các hoạt động bác ái và giúp đỡ người khác.
Phong trào sử dụng Lời Chúa trong Kinh Thánh và các giáo huấn chính thức của Giáo hội Công giáo làm nền tảng trong việc giáo dục và hướng dẫn giới trẻ trong mọi hoạt động. Đối với tất cả các em của Phong Trào Thiếu Nhi Thánh Thể, Chúa Giêsu Kitô Thánh Thể là trung tâm của cuộc sống,là nguồn mạch của đời sống tâm linh.
