IMPORTANT GUIDELINES AND PROTOCOLS TO ATTEND MASS:

DIRECTRICES Y PROTOCOLOS IMPORTANTES PARA ASISTIR A MISA

According to the Santa Clara County guidelines.

Effecive Tuesday, November 17th, all indoor Masses and worship services will be moved outdoor. We will also continue to livestream Masses for those who prefer to stay at home.

Please help us to keep the safety and health of all who attend Mass by observing the established safety protocols: • Bring your mask, wash your hands – No mask, no mass.

• Come at least 15 minutes early.

• Ushers will direct you to your seat.

• Please observe 6 feet social distancing at all times.

• Use your mask at all times throughout the duration of Mass.

• Stay at your designated space throughout the duration of Mass.

• Receive Communion in your hand, with mask on, then step aside remove your mask and use your free hand to place the Host in your mouth and put your mask back on.

• Collection baskets will not be passed but placed at entrance and exit for your offertory.

• Please do not stay after mass to allow us to disinfect all chairs, and other contact points before the next mass.

8. Holy Gospel “If anyone wishes to be first he shall be the servant of all”

In today’s gospel, James and John were convinced of their special status after being with Jesus at the Mount of Transfiguration. But also, Peter, who had boasted of sufficient faith for walking on water.

The fact that they were “Discussing it on the way” highlights the danger of arrogance and powerhunger in the life of Christian communities. When Jesus asked His disciples about what they were discussing on the way, He is also referring to us here today. Jesus was checking on one of the biggest temptations in Christian living, namely, our desire to look for power and superiority without even noticing this as something utterly foreign to the master’s own example.

Jesus addresses the issue by explaining how His ministry is intimately connected to the suffering and death that will lead to resurrection. “The Son of Man is to be handed over to man.” From here on, the impending cross begins to fall across Jesus’ life and ministry. The fact showed that it won’t be triumph and glory that awaits Him in Jerusalem but suffering and death. The gospel says that Jesus “sat down and called the twelve.” An important teaching moment was about to happen. In Jesus time, children were considered inferior, but today Jesus is telling His disciples that they need to be more like children.

“If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Through His words and His actions, Jesus is teaching us today how those who exercise authority in the community are not to resemble the rulers of the world. The Christian disciple is called to serve without counting the cost, and the service rendered will bring with it no human acclaim or compensation. The Lord is inviting us today to develop our capacity to welcome everybody, to create a space in our minds and hearts for the others, even when the world counts them as unimportant. The Lord is inviting us today to welcome the helpless, the ones whose very life depends on the gift of being able to receive life from others. In other words, the Lord is inviting us to welcome Jesus. Let us pray for the wisdom needed to be aware of our personal ambitions, and to avoid the occasions when we want to be the first. Let us ask for a heart opened to understand that in the path to the resurrection, the mystery of the cross is required.

Estas son las intenciones de oración del Papa Francisco

Intención Universal- Septiembre Un estilo de vida ecosostenible. Recemos para que todos tomemos decisiones va-lientes a favor de un estilo de vida sobrio y ecosos-tenible, alegrándonos por los jóvenes que están comprometidos con él.

En el evangelio de hoy, Santiago y Juan están convencidos de su posición de privilegio después de haber atestiguado la transfiguración. Pero también Pedro que había caminado en el mar embravecido.

El hecho de lo que “habían discutido en el camino” resalta el riesgo de la arrogancia y el hambre de poder existente en la vida de toda comunidad cristiana. La pregunta que Jesús hace a sus discípulos acerca de que discutían por el camino, se refiere también a nosotros hoy aquí. Jesús nos previene así de una de las más grandes tentaciones para todo cristiano, nuestro deseo por buscar el poder y la superioridad, sin siquiera percatarnos de que es algo totalmente extraño al ejemplo de Jesucristo.

De ahora en adelante, la cruz cuelga sobre la vida y el ministerio de Jesús. El hecho muestra que no es el triunfo y la gloria lo que aguarda a Jesús en Jerusalén, sino sufrimiento y muerte. El evangelio dice hoy que “Jesús se sentó, y llamo a los doce.”

Una importante enseñanza estaba por venir. En los tiempos de Jesús, los niños eran considerados inferiores, pero el día de hoy Jesús esta diciéndole a sus discípulos que necesitan hacerse como niños.

“Si alguno quiere ser el primero, que sea el ultimo y el servidor de todos.” Mediante sus palabras y sus acciones, Jesús nos enseña como aquellos que ejercen autoridad en la comunidad jamás deben imitar a los que gobiernan el mundo. El verdadero discípulo es llamado a servir sin fijarse en el sacrificio, y el servicio prestado jamás deberá buscar la alabanza o la recompensa en el mundo. El día de hoy somos invitados a estar dispuestos a dar la bienvenida a todos, a crear en nuestras mentes y en nuestros corazones un espacio para nuestros semejantes, aun cuando no sean tan importantes. El Señor nos invita hoy a dar la bienvenida al desamparado, a todos aquellos cuyas vidas dependen de la misericordia de otros. En otras palabras, el Señor nos invita a darle la bienvenida a Jesús en nuestras vidas. Oremos hoy pidiendo sabiduría necesaria para darnos cuenta de nuestras propias ambiciones, y para evitar las veces en que deseamos ser los primeros. Pidamos un corazón abierto a entender que: ¡en el camino a la resurrección, el misterio y el sacrificio de la cruz son un requisito!

“Ai muốn làm lớn nhất, thì hãy làm đầy tớ mọi người” Trong Tin Mừng hôm nay, Giacôbê và Gioan ̣ đ ã tự cho rằng mình có địa vị đặc biệt sau khi các ông đã được ở với Đức Giêsu trên Núi Biến Hình. Cũng vậy, Phêrô đã tự hào rằng mình có đủ đức tin để có thể đi trên mặt nước. Vấn đề mà các ông “tranh luận trên đường đi” nhấn mạnh đến sự nguy hiểm của lòng tự cao và ham hố quyền lực trong đời sống của những cộng đồng Kitô hữu. Khi Đức Giêsu hỏi các môn đệ về việc các ông tranh luận dọc đường, thì hôm nay và tại nơi đây, Người cũng đang hỏi chúng ta. Đức Giêsu đang chất vấn một trong những cám dỗ lớn nhất trong đời sống Kitô hữu của chúng ta, nghĩa là sự ham hố quyền lực và địa vị cao trọng, mà không lưu ý rằng những điều này hoàn toàn xa lạ với gương mẫu của chính thầy mình. Đức Giêsu cắt nghĩa vấn nạn này bằng cách giải thích cho các ông biết là sứ mạng của Người có liên quan mật thiết tới việc trải qua đau khổ và cái chết, nhưng điều đó sẽ đưa tới phục sinh. “Con Người sẽ bị nộp vào tay người ta.” Từ đó trở đi, thánh giá sắp xẩy đến đã bắt đầu xuất hiện trong cuộc sống và sứ mạng của Đức Giêsu. Sự thể cho thấy rằng không phải chiến thắng và vinh quang chờ đợi Người tại Giêrusalem nhưng là đau khổ và sự chết. Tin Mừng nói rằng Đức Giêsu “ngồi xuống và gọi mười hai ông lại.” Giây phút giảng dạy quan trọng sắp bắt đầu. Vào thời Đức Giêsu, Các trẻ nhỏ bị coi là có địa vị thấp kém, nhưng hôm nay Đức Giêsu nói với các môn đệ của Người rằng các ông cần phải trở nên như các trẻ nhỏ.

“Ai muốn làm lớn nhất, thì hãy tự làm người rốt hết và làm đầy tớ mọi người.” Bằng lời nói và hành động của Người, Đức Giêsu đang dạy chúng ta hôm nay cách thi hành quyền bính trong cộng đồng không được giống như cách thế của các thủ lãnh trên thế giới. Người môn đệ Kitô giáo được mời gọi để phục vụ mà không tính toán, cho đi mà không mong được người đời ca tụng hay đền đáp. Thiên Chúa mời gọi chúng ta hôm nay hãy gia tăng khả năng tiếp đón mọi người, hãy dành cho những người khác một chỗ trong tâm trí của ta, cho dù thế giới không coi họ là quan trọng. Thiên Chúa mời gọi chúng ta hôm nay đón tiếp những người đang cần sự giúp đỡ, những người mà cuộc sống của họ chỉ nhờ vào sự bố thí của kẻ khác. Nói cách khác, Thiên Chúa đang mời chúng ta đón tiếp Đức Giêsu. Chúng ta hãy cầu xin cho được sự khôn ngoan cần thiết để nhận ra những tham vọng của mình, và xa tránh những cơ hội muốn làm người lớn nhất.

Chúng ta hãy xin cho được một trái tim rộng mở để có hiểu rằng con đường dẫn tới phục sinh đòi ta phải trải qua mầu nhiệm thập giá.

Please note: no cooking, no burners and no stoves allowed to use in the class room.
