8. Holy Gospel Nineteenth Sunday In Ordinary Time

Blessed the servant whom his

master on arrival finds doing so St. Luke presents the resurrected Jesus as the master that will come again at the end of times covered in His glory. And we, as Christ followers, will be the servants awaiting His arrival. Christ’s second coming will probably be something that we, almost certainly, will not experience. The idea of being prepared is therefore, as the readings explain it, our desire to be vigilant, and to maintain our candles lighted with Christ’s love, and His divine justice.

This is an invitation to be constantly awaiting our master’s return, because, what is 100% true is the fact that anyone of us will experience our own personal encounter with the Lord at the moment of our death. It is for this moment that we all need to be prepared for. The question is shifted now to: how could we be prepared for a personal encounter with the Lord at the end of our own times? Today’s gospel contains some suggestions. First of all, it contains an invitation to be generous, an invitation to store in heaven a treasure that lasts forever. This will be a treasure well beyond the thief’s reach, a treasure that cannot be devoured by the mot.

On a Church level, to be prepared means to continually fulfill what Jesus has entrusted to us. It means to preach and to teach the gospel’s message, in time and out of time. It also means not to surrender the moral principles that we have received through Jesus’ word and ministry, even when those principles are being strongly questioned by our modern society. It also means to work unceasingly for justice and peace, without quitting our commitment to work for the kingdom of God. On a personal level, to be a Christian demand working for the establishment of God’s kingdom here on earth.

To be prepared means to work against poverty and oppression. To be prepared demands an extra effort to fight against hatred and all the barriers that could divide us. To be prepared means to work for everlasting peace, among our families, in society, and among all nations. To be prepared demands abandoning our selfishness, and respecting human dignity in all its faces. To be prepared means to work tirelessly against injustice, even when all our efforts seem to be lost in the deepness of suffering, indifference, or human cynicism.

Estas son las intenciones de oración del Papa Francisco

Intención Universal- Agosto Recemos para que los pequeños y medianos empresarios, duramente afectados por la crisis económica y social, encuentren los medios necesarios para continuar su actividad al servicio de las comunidades en las que viven.

En el contexto del evangelio de San Lucas que hemos proclamado hoy, el maestro es Jesús resucitado, el cual vendrá otra vez al final de los tiempos, cubierto de gloria, y los sirvientes somos nosotros sus seguidores. La segunda venida de Cristo será un acontecimiento que muy posiblemente no nos tocará experimentar. La idea de estar preparados implica entonces, como las lecturas lo explican, el deseo por estar vigilante y de mantener nuestras lámparas encendidas con la luz de Cristo y su justicia divina.

Esta es una invitación a estar esperando constantemente el regreso del maestro, porque, lo que sí es seguro que experimentaremos será nuestro encuentro individual con al Señor al momento de nuestra muerte; es para este acontecimiento para el que tenemos que estar preparados. La pregunta ahora sería: ¿cómo podremos estar preparados para nuestro encuentro con el Señor al final de nuestros tiempos? El evangelio de hoy contiene algunas sugerencias para nosotros. Primero que nada, una invitación a la generosidad, una invitación a acumular en el cielo tesoros que no se acaben; tesoros que estén más allá del alcance del ladrón, tesoros que no se carcoman con la polilla.

A nivel iglesia, estar preparados significa cumplir continuamente con la tarea que Cristo le ha encomendado. Significa predicar y enseñar el evangelio a tiempo y a destiempo; significa no renunciar a los principios morales recibidos a través de la palabra y el ministerio terrenal de Jesucristo, aun cuando las presiones de esta nuestra sociedad vayan en sentido contrario; significa trabajar siempre por la justicia, sin descuidar jamás su lucha por instaurar el Reino de Dios en este mundo. A nivel personal, ser discípulo de Jesucristo demanda un compromiso por trabajar para su reino. Estar preparado implica luchar constantemente contra la opresión y la pobreza; estar preparado demanda un esfuerzo constante en la lucha contra el odio y las barreras que nos dividen; estar preparado significa luchar por la paz entre los hombres, en nuestras familias, en la sociedad, y entre las naciones. Estar preparado demanda vencer el orgullo, demanda también respetar la dignidad de todo ser humano.

Estar preparado significa no dejarse vencer por la injusticia, aun cuando todos nuestros esfuerzos parezcan caer en el barril sin fondo del sufrimiento, la indiferencia, y el cinismo humano.

Khi chủ về mà thấy đầy tớ ấy đang làm như vậy, thì thật là phúc cho anh ta

Thánh Luca kể về Chúa Giêsu Phục Sinh như là một ông chủ sẽ trở lại trong vinh quang trong ngày tận thế. Và chúng ta, những người theo Ngài, sẽ là những đầy tớ sẵn sàng chờ Ngài trở lại. Chúa Kitô đến lần thứ hai có lẽ sẽ là điều mà chúng ta hầu như chắc chắn không thể cảm nghiệm được. Sự chuẩn bị theo các bài đọc hôm nay là chúng ta phải luôn thắp sáng những ngọn nến với tình yêu của Chúa Kitô và sự công chính thiêng liêng của Ngài. Đây là lời mời gọi chúng ta phải luôn chờ đợi ngày Chúa lại đến, bởi vì, sự thật 100% tất cả mỗi người chúng ta điều sẽ gặp được Ngài trong giờ lâm chung. Đó là lúc chúng ta phải sẵn sàng. Trong Giáo Hội, chuẩn bị có nghĩa là tiếp tục thực thi sứ vụ Chúa Giêsu giao phó. Có nghĩa là rao giảng sứ điệp Phúc Âm, dù có hợp thời hay không hợp thời. Parish’s Facility Request Form All the groups using facility must submit the reservation request form to the office, a responsible person must have a fingerprint, a safe environment certificate and a waiver.

Please note: no cooking, no burners and no stoves allowed to use in the class room.

Religious Education Program Registration 2022-2023 First Communion, RCIA, RCIC and Confirmation Registration forms will be handed out on July 10 to August 15, 2022. You can also register your children for the sacraments during this period by coming to the parish office Monday to Friday from 12pm—6pm.

Remember the last day for registrations will be August 15th.

We have limited space, do not wait to register.

• Students who need the Sacraments of initiation must be 7 – 17 years old.

• Adult RCIA students need to be 18 years old and up.

• The student must be in 8th grade or 13 - 17 years old.

Registration Fees is $200.00 each student, two and more students in the same family, $150 each.
