8. Holy Gospel “They prostrated themselves

Epiphany of the Lord

and did Him homage.”

In the Gospel passage that we proclaim today, we heard of the magi, and how God led them to the light of His Son, by means of an extraordinary light, a star. The wise men were led by an extraordinary light to the source of true light, to Jesus, the source of all knowledge and wisdom of God. They were offered with the star, and they took the choice. They followed God’s call without hesitation.

On epiphany, we celebrate today the divinity of the human child Jesus which is already beginning to manifest itself into the world. Epiphany is then the celebration of the ever-present, light of light, living in Jesus. Even when God the Father constantly helps us not to lose sight of His light, we are in a constant risk of losing sight of the light. We also heard in today’s gospel that the magi for a time lose sight of the star, but they persevered, and overjoyed when they saw the star again.

We are imperfect human beings, sin and darkness can prevail at times in our lives. Accepting some Church teachings, or having to face suffering and loss, could lead us into losing sight of the real light present in Jesus. The magi were transformed by the experience. Scripture says that “they departed for their country by another way.” A personal encounter with Jesus, an epiphany, is more that worthy; it necessarily transforms our way of life. Let us now ask Him for the courage needed to change our ways out of darkness. Let us ask Him for the strength and wisdom needed to change our paths to another way, the way that the star constantly enlightens, the way that will eventually lead us into eternal life.

Estas son las intenciones de oración del Papa Francisco

Intención Universal- Enero Recemos para que todas las personas que sufren discriminación y persecución religiosa encuentren en las sociedades en las que viven el reconocimiento de sus derechos y la dignidad que proviene de ser hermanos y hermanas.

En el pasaje del Evangelio de hoy escuchamos acerca de los Reyes Magos, y de como Dios los llevo hasta la luz de su Hijo, por medio de una gran Estrella en el firmamento. Los Reyes fueron guiados por una gran luz hacia la fuente de la verdadera luz, a Jesús, la fuente del conocimiento y sabiduría divinas. Y Ellos, sin dudar un momento, tomaron la oportunidad, acudieron al llamado de Dios sin dilación.

En la Epifanía, celebramos hoy el inicio de la revelación de la divinidad del Jesús humano nacido en Belén. En Epifanía celebramos la presencia de la Luz de luz contenida y revelada en Jesús de Nazareth. Aun cuando Dios mismo nos ayuda constantemente a no perder de vista su Luz, estaremos siempre en constante peligro de alejarnos de ella.

Como oímos el día de hoy; los Reyes por un tiempo perdieron de vista esa misma luz, pero perseveraron, y se llenaron de regocijo cuando vieron la estrella otra vez.

Somos seres humanos imperfectos, el pecado y la obscuridad pueden fácilmente entrar en nuestras vidas. El aceptar alguna enseñanza de la Iglesia, o enfrentar alguna pérdida importante en nuestras vidas pueden llevarnos fácilmente a ignorar la verdadera luz que brota de Cristo. Recordemos entonces como los magos fueron transformados por la experiencia. La Escritura narra como ellos “regresaron a su tierra por otro camino.” Un encuentro personal con Jesús es indudablemente una Epifanía, un momento de revelación poderoso que necesariamente transforma el rumbo de nuestras vidas. Pidamos hoy humildad para transitar por el camino que su Luz nos señala; la ruta que invariablemente conduce a la vida eterna.

Họ phủ phục và thờ lạy Ngài Trong bài Tin Mừng mà chúng ta công bố hôm nay, chúng ta đã nghe nói về Ba Vua, và bằng cách nào mà Thiên Chúa dẫn họ đến với ánh sáng của Con Ngài, bằng một ánh sáng phi thường, một ngôi sao. Các nhà thông thái đã được hướng dẫn bởi một ánh sáng phi thường đến nguồn ánh sáng thật, đến với Chúa Giê-su, là nguồn của mọi sự hiểu biết và khôn ngoan của Thiên Chúa. Họ đã được trao ban với ngôi sao, và họ đã lựa chọn. Họ đi theo tiếng mời gọi của Chúa mà không do dự.

Việc chấp nhận một số giáo huấn của Giáo hội, hoặc phải đối mặt với đau khổ và mất mát, có thể dẫn chúng ta mất đi ánh sáng thực sự hiện diện trong Chúa Giê-su. Ba Vua đã được biến đổi bởi kinh nghiệm. Kinh thánh nói rằng “họ khởi hành về lại quê hương của họ bằng một con đường khác.” Một cuộc gặp gỡ riêng với Chúa Giêsu, là một vị Hiển Linh, còn xứng đáng hơn thế; nó cần thiết phải thay đổi cách sống của chúng ta. Bây giờ chúng ta hãy cầu xin Ngài ban sự can đảm cần thiết để thay đổi đường lối của chúng ta ra khỏi bóng tối. Chúng ta hãy cầu xin Ngài ban sức mạnh và sự khôn ngoan cần thiết để thay đổi đường lối của chúng ta sang một con đường khác, con đường mà ngôi sao liên tục soi sáng, con đường cuối cùng sẽ dẫn chúng ta vào cuộc sống trường sinh.
