N
ow concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 2but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the best gifts. WORD of WISDOM
A spiritual and supernatural revelation that comes from God through the Holy Spirit to: provide a solution to a problematic situation; empower the believer to know the heart and plans of God in any situation; and enable a believer to give an expression of his or her faith.
WORD of KNOWLEDGE
A spiritual, supernatural, and spontaneous--spur-of-themoment--knowing of information and facts given to a believer through the Holy Spirit for the maturing and edifying of the Body of Christ.
PROPHECY
A Spirit-filled and spontaneous utterance that comes from God in order to confirm or direct a person to the will of God and to help them see what God is doing or about to do in their lives. This gift is not to be lifted up or equated with the canonical prophecy of the completed Word of God. All prophecy must be in agreement with the Word of God and cannot conflict with God’s Word.
TONGUES
SPEAKING
GIFTS Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. romans 8:26-27, nkjv For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. i corinthians 14:14-15, nkjv
Tongues as a Gift The gift of speaking in a known human language that was not learned. This happens through the power of the Holy Spirit in order to proclaim the gospel message to someone who may not speak an individual’s native language. Also, public tongues may be manifested through prayer, prophecy, or praise in order to give an exhortation or to edify a church assembly. In both cases, there should be an interpretation, in order for the gift to be edifying to the assembly. The Devotional Language of the Holy Spirit Spiritfilled utterances that are done to God and for God in an unknown language. This experience is different from the gift of tongues. Whereas, the gift of tongues is sovereignly given by God, the Devotional Language of the Holy Spirit is something that is available to all believers. This experience usually manifests itself through prayer, praise, and worship (i.e. singing). When someone participates in the Devotional Language of the Holy Spirit, they usually do so in order to discover the will of God for their life (i.e. prayer) or simply to bless and glorify the Lord (e.g. praising, singing, and worshipping). See Romans 8:26-27, NKJV; I Corinthians 14:14-15, NKJV.
INTERPRETATION of TONGUES
The God-given ability to translate a believer’s language who is speaking in an unknown tongue (i.e. the gift of tongues) by the power of the Holy Spirit for the purpose of proclamation of the gospel, prophecy, prayer, or praise. With this gift, a person translates the unknown tongue into a language that is understood by listeners for the purpose of edification, exhortation, and comfort.
TEACHING
The God-given ability, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to communicate the principles of God’s Word in a way that is organized and makes the Word of God clear and concise. A person with this gift has been given the anointing to not just teach but to teach and cause change. Someone with the gift of teaching has the anointing to challenge people to change and live their lives according to the Word of God so that they can experience God’s best.
EXHORTATION
The God-given ability to connect with people who are discouraged; and encourage, comfort, and strengthen them to trust in God for their breakthrough and deliverance. Believers that operate in the gift of exhortation will compel those who have lost focus of their faith to get back in proper order with God. People with this gift have the ability to change an atmosphere from one of defeat to one of victory.

The God-given ability, through the Holy Spirit, to believe God for the supernatural or the impossible in any situation. It is having the capability to step out on God’s Word and promises without seeing or having any future details or future provisions.
HEALINGS
SUPERNATURAL
GIFTS
Moments in life when God through the power of the Holy Spirit sovereignly--and sometimes supernaturally--brings healing and wholeness to the body, soul, spirit, and mind of an individual or a group of people. Within this gift, God uses a believer to bring deliverance, freedom, and liberation to a person from any ailments that causes them from living the abundant life Jesus promised.
THE WORKING of MIRACLES
The sovereign display of God’s supernatural power in the life of people and on earth. It is when God’s miraculous power supersedes the natural laws of the earth and humanity in order to accomplish His will and bring glory to Himself. When a believer operates in this gift, he or she will have supernatural ability through the power of the Holy Spirit to do the impossible in order to edify people for the glory of God.
DISCERNING of SPIRITS
The Spirit-led ability to distinguish the Holy Spirit from all other spirits that seek to deceive the believer and get them out of the will of God. This gift also provides the believer the Spirit-given ability to detect the heart and true source of circumstances and motives of people.
HELPS
The God-given ability through the power of the Holy Spirit to stand alongside a spiritual leader for the purpose of assisting, supporting, and relieving the leader of the burden of ministry. In this gift, a person invests their own God-given talents and abilities into the life of a leader and his/her ministry in order to make the leader and ministry as effective as possible.
SERVICE
GIFTS
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. □ He who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. romans 12:3; 8, nkjv But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.” (Now this, “He ascended”--what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 1He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ-- from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love. i corinthians 4:7-16, nkjv
ADMINISTRATION
The God-given ability to create, organize, and manage structure and systems within the Body of Christ. This gift involves the ability to take ideas, strategies, plans, visions, etc. and make them come alive. This gift enables a person to be able to execute vision with excellency and make them a reality. People who possess this gift have the unique ability to galvanize people and make them feel apart of the greater vision of an organization or a team. See Romans 12:3; 8, NKJV.
SERVICE/MINISTRY
The God-given ability to work in the Kingdom of God with passion and humility with a strong sense of effectiveness, efficiency, and excellence. Those who possess this gift find joy in serving God; their local church; the Kingdom of God; and their greater community. For the person who has this gift, their ultimate aim is to glorify God and do whatever is necessary to build the Kingdom of God.
GIVING
The God-given ability to release to God your energy (i.e. minutes) and resources (i.e. money) in order to upbuild the Kingdom of God. People who possess this gift count it a privilege to invest large sums of money and time into the Kingdom of God. Usually, people who possess this gift are people whom God has blessed immensely with finances.
LEADERSHIP
The God-given ability to go before people and show them the pathway to their purpose. The ability to give wise instruction and direction to people. Those who possess this gift have the ability to get people to voluntarily and faithfully follow them as they follow the voice of Christ. They have the God-given ability to write a vision; articulate it; and gather a group of people; manage them as one cohesive group; and bring the vision to into reality.
MERCY
The God-given ability for certain members of the Body of Christ to have genuine compassion for individuals--both believers and non-believers--who suffer with distressing spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, and social problems. They have the grace to translate their compassion and feelings into joyfully-done deeds that ease suffering and reflect Christ’s love for all people. See Ephesians 4:7-16, NKJV.
APOSTLE/ APOSTOLIC
The God-given ability that the Holy Spirit gives to certain ‘leaders’ of the Body of Christ to establish churches for Christ and exercise or delegate leadership over them. To be the moderator or overseer of a number of churches in spiritual matters which is recognized and honored by those churches.
PROPHET
The God-given ability to speak on behalf of God through the power of the Holy Spirit, as His spiritual mouthpiece. Leaders who have this gift have the ability to speak to believers and decree things that will take place and confirm things that God has already spoken to them. The gift of the prophet is also a gift to manage other prophets and to hold them accountable to ensure the prophetic ministry is being upheld with the utmost integrity.
EVANGELIST
The God-given ability to have a sincere passion for the lost. Leaders who possess this gift have the ability to strategize and galvanize people together for the purpose of reaching the lost with the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. People who have this gift also have a supernatural boldness to approach lost people and clearly articulate to them the Plan of Salvation and lead them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
PASTOR
The God-given ability to shepherd, care, educate, and lead the people of God. Leaders who possess this gift have the ability to watch over the souls of believers and help them to discover and deploy the purpose and will of God for their life. A leader with this gift must be proven and mature in the faith and have a passion for God’s Word and His people.
TEACHER
The God-given ability to communicate the principles of God’s Word in a way that is organized and makes the Word of God clear and concise. Leaders with this gift have been given the anointing to not just teach but to teach and cause change. Someone with the gift of teaching has the anointing to challenge people to change and live their lives according to the Word of God so that they can experience God’s best.
