Our Give Local special offering is a special time of giving above and beyond our tithe to support the ongoing work of our committed partners in Miami.

The way it works is you give and they receive 100% plus Christ Journey support all year. Each partner counts heavily on known support to budget and accomplish the amazing work they do year round. Touching Miami with Love - provides after school programs that keep children off the streets; Florida Baptist Children’s Home - is where we are part of giving orphans a loving home and hope; South Florida Jail Ministry - serves the forgotten and incarcerated; Agape Family Ministry - is where women have a safe place; The Glory House of Miami - rescues and houses women from the horrors of sex trafficking; Feed Miami - provides food for the needy through our pantries year round, and City Serves moves us out as the body of Christ into our community. Please pray about giving generously to our partners. Give Local happens just once a year. That time is now. We are truly blessed to be a blessing.

On June 4, a team of six will head to Cuba on mission. This will be Christ Journey’s fifth visit to the island. During the weeklong trip, the team will train and equip local pastors.

“In an island where the word of God has been forgotten for so long, the Lord is doing so many amazing things and we are all excited to be a part of it,” said mission trip leader, Maricarmen Roca. “We are training future leaders by training the pastors.”

As part of this mission, the team will also build upon the training Pastor Bill implemented during the previous trip.

Please pray for the Cuba mission team as they embark on this mission of bringing the word of God.

90

DAYS OF PRAYER

June - August 2016

“My house will be a house of prayer for all nations.” – Mark 11:17.

Following the prompting of God’s Spirit and in honor of our ninety years as a church sharing God’s grace in our Christ journey, Pastor Bill is calling us to ninety days of prayer.

We are asking everyone to join us everyday in seeking God’s face. Each day we will share a prayer from the Bible along with a brief prayer from our hearts to start your day. Simply take a moment from wherever you are to voice a prayer from your heart with us as we “seek God’s face” together.

We will be using the Christ Journey App for the daily prayers so be sure and load it on your phone. Hard copies of the day’s prayers will be available at all host stations throughout the 90 days.

As we look to Him what can we expect? That is what we will find out during these ninety days. But according to the Lord’s own words, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14

THROUGH the

YEARS

A longtime member of our church recently gave me a note of her recollections of our pastors through the years. I’ve adapted them here: Her family came to UBC (our previous church name) when Ladislau Biro was pastor. He had a strong Hungarian accent in a church full of accents from the American south! Redhead Ralph Langley was next. God used him to put a fire in her heart to come to Christ. Then came Dr. Rupert Coleman whose sister was a missionary in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Missions became a clear focus. Rev. J.B.Hall brought a sense of serenity during the difficult Vietnam years. Next Dan Yeary brought a fresh approach that uncomplicated our relationships with God and opened new possibilities. During the riots he built a bridge between the races. Then there was Bill. She credited me with a call to go deep and grow more followers of Christ. She concludes, “I am open to all possibilities for Christ” and “What starts here changes the world!”
