Introduction
“Religion has ever been anti human, anti-woman, anti-life, anti-peace, antireason, anti-science. The god idea has been detrimental not only to mankind but to the earth. It is time now for reason, education and science to takeover.” - Madyln Murray O’Hair Religion as God designed it, is committed to service, sacrifice and love. However, the world has often witnessed man’s imprint on the depiction of religion and God’s word. Biblical Scripture has at times even been misused to justify evil and corruption. In fact, because of similar circumstances, Christians often find themselves on the wrong side of history. However, is it fair to doubt a good God and His teachings, based on the actions of misguided followers?

1. How would you define the word hypocrite? 2. Why do you think Christians are known as hypocrites? 3. How have you seen evil done in the name of religion? How was the bible was used to justify evil? 4. Has there ever been a time when your misunderstanding of God’ s word caused you to wrong someone? How about vise-versa? 5. In a scale from 1-10 how important do you think it is to study/reflect on God’s word? Why?
Application 1. Read 1 John 2:3 and John 13:34-35. How do these passages clarify our call to Christ? 2. Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17. What can we do to gain a better understanding of God’s character? 3. Read 2 Timothy 2:17-18. In these verses, Paul describes those who swerve from God’s word. How can we avoid being misguided by those who use God’s word out of context? 4. Read Matthew 22:36-40. How can we use these passages as a guide for our spiritual journey? 5. Read 2 Peter 1:20-21. How can we gain confidence from knowing the truth of these scriptures?
