Greatest Gift

THE GREATEST GIFT IS BEING A PRAYING MOTHER By: Kellie Hudson

Oh motherhood! The successes and the failures, the happy moments and the sad moments, the ew’s and the ahh’s, the times we are worried and the times we are proud, and most importantly the LOVE. Motherhood comes with so many emotions and moments. Children are an amazing gift from God. I once heard a quote that stated, “No other love is closer to God’s love, then that of a mother’s love for her children”. It’s probably one of my favorite qoutes. It helps to humble me when my kids are acting out and I’m feeling overwhelmed with the gift and hardships of motherhood. How awesome is it that God made us as women, the lovers and nurtures of this earthly world, trusted us to raise His children and love them as He loves us?! In my opinion there is no blessing greater then being a mother and raising a child. On the other hand we can all admit that motherhood is hard! It takes so much from not only our bodies but our souls and minds. We gain weight and lose our memory all for this beautiful little miracle from God that we know is a blessing but sometimes doesn’t always seem so. We become tired and overworked. Each stage of our children’s childhood is filled with different joyful and proud moments but also sorrows, challenges, and speed bumps. As Christian mothers we are trying to raise humble God loving and fearing children in a world that is anything but. A world filled with greed, hate, and the lost. I could go on and on. Even though God tells us not to worry we all know there isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t worry about our children. So if you’re feeling stressed or worried about your children or motherhood the best thing you can do is sit down with God in prayer. Trust him with the lives of your children and your worries. Know that no matter what you are going through and whatever stage you are at in motherhood that there is always a loving God who knows exactly what you need and are going through. Know that motherhood is a blessing and your children are a gift. The fact that you worry about whether or not you are doing it right is a sign that you are doing it right. Know that you won’t always get it right! It’s okay to not be the prefect mom, to not be the Pinterest mom. Just be the best version of a mom that you can be at that moment. Believe me when I say you are prefect even on the days you feel that you aren’t. Continue to pray and love. Those are the greatest gifts a mother can give her children. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:28-29

We are praying mothers trying to do our best for our children and God. We know that prayer is our biggest weapon against our worries. There is no greater gift then a praying mother. We know that loving our children and praying for them is the best thing we can do for them. That trusting God to guide our children’s lives, if only they will listen, cancels out every worry we may have and in that we may have peace.
