Precedent 2 pulley system The Kiefer Technic Showroom, Austria

The Kiefer Technic Showroom, located in Bad Gleichenberg Austria, can essentially be seen as a dynamic sculpture, where the kinetic panels are constantly changing & moving. The panels moves with, and according to, the weather conditions. This helps heat up the space in winter, while blocking out harsh sun during summer. The moving façade is powered by 56 engines that switch on automatic shutters and folded panelling of aluminium, while it can also be controlled manually via human command. Throughout the day, the angle & orientation of the shutters change, depending on the suns location. The panels are connected via a number of rollers & hinges that enable them to slide and rotate along a central axis, allowing a large number of different movements and configurations to be made possible. There is a central electric motor that powers the system, which is concealed out of site, within the building’s skin. A network of sensors control the motor, which detend changes in environmental conditions, and reacts accordingly. (Uys, E. 2016) above: fig 53. ResearchGate (n.d.)
