SUMMIT
CAFO Summit is a global hub of connection, learning and action – convening more than 2,000 Christian leaders, advocates, pastors and parents from every U.S. state and more than 50+ countries each year – to see God’s people care effectively for vulnerable children and families, rooted always in Christian discipleship and the life of the local church.
This year’s event, CAFO2025, will be held October 1-3 at Houston’s First in Houston, Texas. In addition to workshops, plenary sessions and worship … CAFO2025 features more than 50 booths and exhibits, a bookstore, a marketplace for global arts and crafts and a host of other connection and learning opportunities - including CEU credits.
This year’s Summit will also feature a series of Pre-Summit Intensives including the Annual Research Symposium, Global Collaborate, and Transitioning to Family Care Simulation Experience, as well as new sessions on Fundraising as a Joyful Calling and Leading for Impact.
CAFO
The Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) unites more than 290 respected organizations and a global network of churches to inspire and equip Christians to effectively answer God’s call to care for vulnerable children and families. Since 2004, CAFO members have sought to “leave their logos and egos at the door” to join in shared initiatives to grow and guide effective responses for the world’s most vulnerable children, from foster care and adoption to family strengthening and care for vulnerable children worldwide. CAFO is a 501c3 non-profit organization headquartered in McLean, Virginia.
THIS YEAR’S THEME
Of this we can be sure: what our world needs most is not just more of all that it has.
What’s needed are things in short supply, hard to come by. Uncommon gifts: different, unusual, even strange.
In a word, DISTINCT.
We do our neighbors no service merely by affirming their assumptions, mirroring their patterns, restating their wisdom.
Such salt, Jesus says, is good only for trampling. It brings no savor. Toss it on the trail. At best, it might kill the weeds.
What is needed, says Jesus, are people who’re gladly in the world but not of it. That requires dwelling near, right alongside.
Yet not quite normal, people of whom it might be said, “They’re the best neighbors I’ve ever had … but also a bit odd.”
