in Christ, but they enjoy the time of fellowship and are open to the gospel.

After the meal, three German guests arose. They spoke of the evil their nation perpetrated during World War II, forgiveness, and how Jesus Christ had changed their lives.

One of the men was a Ukrainian Jew who lost his family in the Holocaust. He later immigrated to Germany where, of all places, he met the Jewish Messiah. He ended his speech by telling the survivors that he’d written a book containing his testimony and, if anyone so desired, he would be happy to sign copies.

Much to his surprise, a line formed at the book table. He got to work, writing a special dedication to each person. Nearly everyone at the event wanted a copy. Afterward, the survivors enjoyed dessert and coffee as the ministry’s two evangelists shared a clear presentation of the gospel. They then boarded the bus to return to their lonely dwelling places.

Once a month, the ministry bus transports around 70 elderly people to church in Israel where they share a Shabbat meal. Many in attendance live alone, having lost spouses and friends to old age. It’s not the only thing they have in common. All of them faced the horrors of the Holocaust.

One Friday evening, the event began as usual with prayer and singing in Yiddish and Hebrew. A hot, catered meal followed, served by young helpers at the church. Conversation ensued. Most of the Holocaust survivors are not believers

You can’t hide from a God who’s destined you for the kingdom. King David knew this well. In Psalm 139, he wrote: “Where can I go from your Spirit?...if I make my bed in the depths, you are there…if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me.”

Thank you for supporting indigenous ministries “on the far side of the sea.” It’s in these places—the world’s most difficult mission elds—that God is drawing people to Himself who have been historically resistant and blind to the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Less than 1 percent of the nearly 9 million people in Israel are evangelical Christians. The Jewish people remain blind to a Messiah who has already come to redeem them. But God is not nished with them. He is drawing the Jews to Himself through indigenous missionaries boldly sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. The above ministry is active in the lives of Holocaust survivors and recently led one of them to Christ before he died. Your support makes their work possible!
