ANNUAL REPORT Fiscal Year 2020 July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020
A Witness For Chr “ Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit” ~ Matthew 28:19 (NASB)
More than 170 Christians from the Mixe tribe in Mexico gather to celebrate progress toward the completion of the Bible in their language.
ist in E v ery Nation Dear Partner in Missions, It is a rare occasion when the entire world is tested together. In moments like these I am reminded of Christ’s exhortation to His disciples regarding the days before His return: “Be careful or your hearts will be weighed down . . . and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all those who live on the earth” (Luke 21:34). Thankfully, God was not surprised by any of this. He ordains every season of life, and He will gain glory through it all. Although borders were closed and flights canceled, the gospel advanced nonetheless. It reminds me of Paul’s words while in prison: God’s Word cannot be chained (2 Timothy 2:9). During this challenging time, God’s indigenous missionaries all over the world continued the work He called and positioned them to do. It is evident that God raised up Christian Aid Mission for such a time as this. The many years of relationship building and partnering with God’s indigenous missionary force has proven in this season to be more significant than ever before. Remarkably, in the most restricted countries in the world, the gospel continually advanced in a most challenging year. Lost in all the headlines of an election season and a global pandemic was the unnoticed reality that God was preparing the world for spiritual awakening. In many countries where we serve persecuted believers, the pandemic provided the necessary distraction and cover for the work of evangelism and disciple-making. I believe 2021 will see the continuation of this momentum. I am also amazed at the generosity and faithfulness of God’s people. In spite of the hardships you endured, you gave sacrificially in the face of uncertainty. The world can change in an instant, and our lives turned upside down. But God’s priorities never change, and His purposes will prevail. Our priorities are clear. Together with you we envision a year of global harvest in some of the most difficult and dangerous places yet to be reached with the gospel. We are approaching the fulfillment of Revelation 5:9 where worshippers of Jesus will be found in every “nation, tribe, people and language.” In one particularly restricted country, your support made it possible for the gospel to reach three tribes that had never received a single missionary until now. Think of that! It took almost 2,000 years for the gospel to reach them, and when it did, it occurred in a year that shook the whole world. Clearly, if our God can do this in such a place and time, He can enable His Church to reach every remaining people group in every country. Our job is to find those believers who are nearest to these last frontiers and to ask them one simple question: “How can we help?” That is the purpose of Christian Aid Mission, and with your partnership we have seen the gospel impact over 2,000 unreached people groups in the last decade. There is so much more to be done, and by God’s grace and for His glory, it will happen sooner than we can all think or imagine. Until there is a Witness for Christ in Every Nation,

EVANGELISM & DISCIPLESHIP
Your support made it possible for indigenous ministries across the world to send missionaries to an additional 200 unreached people groups during the past year. A ministry in Kenya planted six churches through outreach efforts during the pandemic and reported how the gospel brought peace to warring tribes. One of their missionaries led a witchdoctor and his whole family to Christ; another gained a chief’s permission to preach to an entire village after a woman was miraculously healed through prayer. In Brazil, an indigenous ministry reported that, after many years, the chief of a tribal community plagued by violence and alcoholism finally allowed their missionaries to freely evangelize there. Today, a church of 60 members worships there, and the community has begun to reject alcohol. The leader of a ministry in India reported that, during the first half of 2020, “The Lord enabled us to reach 23,600 people with the gospel for the first time in 26 villages, and 3,701 people accepted the Lord Jesus. We have planted five congregations.” A ministry in Ethiopia trained more than 250 believers to be missionaries to their own people, and a ministry in
Nepal provided crucial training to pastors throughout the country after discovering that 95 percent of the country’s pastors were improperly prepared for their roles. Nearly 4,000 students in Vietnam completed advanced theology courses. Despite the limitations of COVID-19, a ministry in Jordan distributed 60,000 tracts and nearly 1,000 New Testaments to refugees and local Jordanians, and over 300 people received Christ as Savior. The leader of a ministry in Burkina Faso reported that, “in a village very hostile to the gospel where human sacrifice is always done in secret,” your support helped the ministry pay for the surgery of a young girl whose eye was injured. “This act of compassion opened a great door,” he said. “More than 50 people responded to the gospel as a result of this charitable act.” A ministry in the Philippines planted three new house churches in a dangerous Muslim-dominated region, and a ministry in Bangladesh held a revival meeting attended by 400 people and led 32 people to Christ from two unreached people groups.

COMMUNITY EN Where illiteracy abounds, the indigenous ministries you assist open schools. Where people lack clean drinking water, they drill wells. Where the mortality rate is high, they establish clinics. Where people struggle to eke out a living, they provide vocational training and microenterprise opportunities. Your support helps them bring a wholistic gospel approach to people’s lives, allowing them to “taste and see that the Lord is good.” A ministry in Egypt provided microenterprise loans to nearly 600 widows and single mothers and taught more than 70 young women a skill such as sewing, hairdressing, or cooking. An additional 180 women from poor villages who dropped out of school completed the ministry’s “Life School,” where they learned basic math, how to read and write, and practical skills. A ministry in Burundi that started a microfinance program in its churches and surrounding communities reported that there are now over 1,200 savings groups who work together for their own development and to start small businesses. Your support helps ministries throughout India run gospel-based sewing centers, transforming the lives of thousands of women who graduate with a skill and a new life in Christ. At the opening of one such center last year, an entire village of over 100 people showed up to celebrate its arrival. A ministry in the Philippines conducted the first ever primary healthcare training among a remote unreached people group and another Filipino ministry uses its 14-hectare farm to provide a way for poor families to earn a living by planting and harvesting produce and flowering plants and raising livestock. A missionary to an isolated people group in Argentina helped tribal

families improve their lives through vegetable-growing and brick-making businesses. “This community is advancing by leaps and bounds since the gospel of Christ arrived,” the ministry leader wrote. In Peru, you helped an indigenous ministry supplement the cost of their gospel radio program by starting a microenterprise to raise and sell guinea pigs.
NGAGEMENT With your help, a ministry in Pakistan runs 20 centers where illiterate Christians learn to read and are given a Bible upon completion of the course, and a ministry in Jordan operates a Christian school for traumatized refugee children from Iraq and Syria. They also produced curriculum to teach youth and children how to pray and were able to minister to nearly 1,500 young people.

COMPASSION A global pandemic provided the backdrop for a dramatic display of God’s kindness and compassion through the ministries you support. Hundreds of thousands of people were fed in Jesus’ name, and many of them put their faith in Christ as savior.
“With help provided by Christian Aid Mission, our ministry was able to cook for around 180 children to receive their daily food, and many families were reached by the gospel,” reported the leader of a ministry in Argentina. The leader of a center in Guatemala for at-risk children wrote, “During this time of COVID-19, our ministry has been able to help 50 families of children in extreme poverty…we have been able to deliver food baskets to each family every month since the pandemic began.” In Vietnam, a ministry delivered food to more than 1,000 people in 28 leper colonies, and a ministry in Burma constructed bamboo houses, dug four wells, and provided rice and other necessities to people displaced by the country’s civil war. According to a ministry leader in Turkey, work opportunities for refugees decreased by 50 percent due to the pandemic. You enabled him to care for 600 refugee families, providing them with monthly food packages, hygiene kits, and a Bible. A ministry that runs a Christian school in the Philippines delivered over 2,000 bags of groceries to the surrounding community. Another Philippine ministry noticed that many parents were accompanying their children to their feeding program, so they took the opportunity to divide the people into age groups and began teaching the Bible to them. One ministry in India provided dry goods, masks, and sanitizers to over 10,000 people in 13 states. Another ministry provided necessities to around 1,200 refugees. “Hundreds of people heard the gospel, and many received Christ,” the leader reported. In Nepal, a ministry that provided aid to 500 people who lost their livelihood during COVID-19 lockdowns led 77 of them to Christ. A ministry in Kenya provided over 2,600 flood victims with food and other supplies, which led to a new church among them, and a ministry in Zimbabwe fed over 1,000 children and adults and supplied medications to the elderly.

Gospel Awakening Despite the pandemic, the gospel continued to spread throughout the continent. A church-planting coalition in Chad completed 50 Bible stories in seven languages. “People are demanding Bibles in French and Arabic language; it is like a revival time has come,” a coalition leader reported. You helped send a container filled with millions of dollars of medical aid to an indigenous ministry in Nigeria that is caring for victims of terrorism. The large shipment enabled them to set up medical centers in five camps for the internally displaced, benefitting tens of thousands of people, and opening the door for countless evangelism opportunities. During COVID-19 lockdowns in Burkina Faso, a ministry distributed 11 tons of food to families from 24 villages. You helped support a Christian hospital in Egypt in a time when most private hospitals were closed due to COVID-19. Another ministry in Egypt started 16 groups for abused women and girls. Yet another ministry provided over 3,000 families with sacks of food and reached over 9,000 people with the gospel message. Your support helped a ministry in Zimbabwe build a school for 80 children, a ministry in Togo drill 10 wells, and a ministry in Ethiopia to daily feed 500 orphans and homeless people.
Workers with an indigenous ministry in Kenya provide food and rent assistance to many people who lost their jobs due to COVID-19.
Across Africa, ministries report miraculous conversions among highly influential people. In Cameroon, a ministry is caring for a top imam who risked his life to come to Christ. In Ghana, missionaries led a 100-year-old chief to the Lord before he died three days later. In Mali, a missionary is discipling a former jihadist. Another missionary in Mali is teaching the Bible to a former drug dealer and follower of a renowned Occult leader. In Guinea, a ministry reports that a forest village known as a “witchcraft headquarters,” where people went to cast spells on enemies or have spells removed, is now a place where people go for healing and deliverance at a church they planted.

Through your support, several ministries were able to send love offerings to churches in Wuhan at the beginning of the pandemic, allowing them to distribute masks and gospel tracts. Many ministries continued their outreaches through online platforms. One ministry created online groups for men interested in learning more about the gospel and report that 450 men are now attending these groups. A ministry that works with youth among the unreached Tibetan and Yi people groups trained 60 youth group leaders how to become aware of teens’ needs, communicate with them, and design age-appropriate activities. Another ministry that
works with the Yi people reports the establishment of three teams of Yi believers who, after many years of training, are now reaching their own people with the gospel. They also report open doors for the gospel among schools that have allowed them to volunteer and do character training for 800 students. Yet another ministry helped several Tibetan believers to establish their own indigenous church; there are now about 20 Tibetan people attending. You helped a ministry distribute food staples to ethnic minority communities in the mountains during each month of the COVID-19 lockdowns. Another ministry donated funds to set up a water pipe for a community suffering from drought. They were able to share the gospel and several families are interested in learning more about Jesus. Your support also enabled a ministry that works with migrant families in poor regions to provide about 1,200 people with relief aid. A missionary with this ministry is discipling around 200 of these migrants.

Refugees Find a Home in Christ Your support helped a ministry in Greece continue sharing the gospel and meeting the needs of refugee families from Syria, Iraq, and Iran throughout the pandemic. “Despite the difficult situation and our physical building being closed, we had the opportunity to support the material and spiritual needs of displaced individuals and families in an even more personal way,” the ministry director reported. “Thanks to your support, we were able to provide an extensive food distribution among people in the lockdown. We were really intentional to do these food dropoffs at the homes and in the camps in person… to assist in the emotional needs as well. By doing so, we had the opportunity on many occasions to share the gospel, exemplify the love of Christ, and pray with people for their needs.” In addition to the groceries, the ministry provided diapers and baby formula to families with infants, supplying more than 300 of the neediest and most desperate refugee families with regular assistance throughout the lockdowns.
ministry center began helping to prepare these meals and, as result of their fellowship with the volunteers and the ministry’s discipleship efforts, all of them became Christians. In addition to the ministry’s outreach to refugees, children’s ministry, women’s ministry, and prison ministry, they were able to help 15 trafficked women, some of whom led their family members to Christ
“ We see in general an increase in numbers of people seeking for God, and their hearts have been softened to receive the gospel.”
Once the ministry reopened their center, they saw an increased number of conversions and baptisms. “We see in general an increase in numbers of people seeking for God, and their hearts have been softened to receive the gospel,” the director said. In Spain, you helped a large and growing indigenous ministry reach thousands of people throughout the country, including refugees from 12 ethnic groups, during COVID-19 lockdowns. Organizing more than 100 Christian volunteers, the ministry prepared and delivered meals for over 1,400 people every day. The ministry leader reports that unbelieving refugees living at the Volunteers with an indigenous ministry in Spain deliver food to families affected by the pandemic.

A Witness for chr ist in e v ery nation Christian Aid Mission assists missionaries to their own people who share the gospel of Christ in areas where there are no churches and no believers. Often, these areas are places of poverty, persecution, and where foreign missionaries are not allowed. The indigenous ministries we assist are fully independent and not affiliates of Christian Aid Mission. They are led by evangelical Christians who live and work inside of their own countries. We extensively evaluate every indigenous ministry we assist to verify their faith, financial integrity and fruitfulness. Then we accelerate their work by making their needs known to believers in developed nations who supply them with prayer and financial support. Christian Aid Mission works with nearly 400 indigenous ministries that share the gospel of Christ with over 2,000 distinct ethnic groups in eight regions of the world: Africa, China, Eurasia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Thank you for your support of indigenous ministries. You are changing communities and impacting the world for Christ.
