The luxury hotel and resort industry is big business, with hoteliers striving for the absolute best to ensure guests keep coming through the doors and part with their well-earned cash. So, what is it that sets these luxury facilities apart from the rest? High end design is of course the first factor that comes to mind. Yet while there is a large percentage of guests that strive for 5* luxury hospitality, there is also a segment of the market who yearn for a rawer experience. This issue of INEX highlights the contrasting landscape of this hugely competitive industry.

On page 20 you’ll read how architecture agency AW2 has taken resort experience to another level. In the Costa Rican jungle, the project leaves no scars on the landscape and has been designed to prove architecture and nature can live in symbiosis.

Elsewhere on page 58, we unveil Hirsch Bedner Associates’ newly-completed first Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Beijing, China. Conceptualised as a modern-day courtyard mansion, Mandarin Oriental Hotel conveys and reinterprets the rich history of “Wang Fu”. When you look back to the understated presence of Kasiiya Papagayo in Costa Rica, this hotel is a stark contrast. Yet its bold statements enrich the guests’ experience, and provides a visit that is truly unique and highly memorable.

For designers in the hospitality industry, they have a duty to ensure the interiors – however large or small – leave a lasting impression. Whether functional or purely aesthetic, every element must inflict the wow factor. In this month’s Architectural Hardware focus, we highlight that even door components are important elements for hotel specifiers. IN AT THE DEEP END A swimming pool designer who built his first pool aged nine has received enquiries from across the globe after one of his designs went viral.

D

esigner Alex Kemsley’s company Compass Pools made headlines around the world recently with its proposals for Infinity London, a 200m high, 360-degree roof-top pool set to tower over the UK capital’s skyline.

Since news of his design broke Alex has fielded several new business enquiries from as far afield as the USA and South Africa.

Compass Pools specialises in customised, one-piece, ceramic composite swimming pools for both indoors and outdoors, with the average order value touching six figures.

The company looks set for a record year ahead after recently completing a move into new premises in West Sussex and Alex has already agreed several new commissions. Previous clients include footballers and TV stars.

Building swimming pools has been a life-long passion for Alex who got behind the wheel of an earth mover to build his first pool with his father at the family home aged just nine years old.

He joined Compass Pools as the company’s exclusive UK importer, builder and distributor in 2011 and has helped steer the company to a leading position in the bespoke private pool sector.

Compass Pools has enjoyed consistent double-digit growth in Britain since Alex effectively launched the European manufactured pool shells into the UK market. This success has allowed the British business to now employ 20 people and bring the whole operation in-house, from imported shell to custom-build, installation and plumbing.

Alex’s reputation as a leading authority in the industry was underlined two years ago when he was named the youngest president of British Swimming Pool Federation, which promotes quality and safety. Compass was also recently named Pool Retailer of the Year at the UK Pool and Spa Awards.

Ongoing Brexit uncertainty has had no impact on the high-end business, with demand continuing to rise after their record-breaking start to the year.

Alex Kemsley said: “To go from building a family pool with my dad at my childhood home to designing the world’s most talked about pool has been an incredible journey.

“Any nine-year-old boy would enjoy operating an earth mover to dig out a hole big enough for a pool. But I couldn’t have guessed that day that it would become my life’s work.

“The business was already flying, with the first quarter of this year proving a recordbreaking period for us. This coincided nicely with moving to the new site in West Sussex, where we’ve built our own offices and warehouse.

“We’ve been able to streamline our operations so everything’s on the same site now. That allows us to control the entire process, from importing the shell to turning it into an installable pool and then all the digging, plumbing and electrics on site.

“We are so proud to be recognised for our high standards and it was an honour to be named Pool Retailer of the Year at the UK Pool and Spa Awards.

his beautiful and unique collection of fabrics and furniture has been inspired by nature’s canvas and crafted using age old traditions. All the materials used within this collection have been sustainably sourced from around the British Isles.

The collection includes; daybeds, headboards, cushions, throws, fabrics, lampshades, footstools and shelving. All the pieces are created using raw, natural materials such as British

linens and tweed from Donegal; the perfect counterbalance to the modern ‘throwaway’ culture.

Charlotte England spent time travelling around the globe, during the early part of her career, which enabled her to try her hand at a wide variety of alternative arts and crafts.

These included studying pottery in Japan with a renowned sensei; traditional paper-making in the Japanese mountains; basket weaving among the Tepuis in the Amazonian basin and life-drawing in Miami.

These wide ranges of inspiring experiences shaped her personal style and design objectives and led her to create Mkira. As part of the creative process, 1 2

Charlotte teamed up with a number of small, authentic, family-run businesses all using traditional methods to expertly craft these beautiful enduring pieces.

he architectural firm Jorge Bibiloni realised the first restyling of the structure by choosing the furniture of 29 rooms and suites with a special focus on details: spaces are characterised by warm and wrapping nuances, which convey to the client a real sense of well-being.

These spaces are further enhanced by the contrast created by the finishings’ decisive tones.

The most recent renovation concerned the interiors of the eight suites, where the original sandstone arches separate the bathroom from the restroom. The mirrors placed behind the mixers of the bathroom create beautiful light effects which amplify the environments, thus adding a modern detail to the furniture.

Moreover, the use of the stone and the wood gives continuity to the rest of the structure.

asiiya Papagayo, created by architecture agency AW², pushes the architecture and resort experience towards a new dimension, in a new way of thinking about ecology.

Tucked away in the heart of the Costa Rican jungle, Kasiiya Papagayo’s five tents are built on wooden platforms.

The project successfully achieves AW²’s goal to leave no scars on the landscape. It demonstrates that luxury can have a new relationship with the world: it can be more stealthy, respectful and authentic.

Architecture and nature can live in symbiosis and no longer in opposition, without trying to gain ground on one another.

Thus is Kasiiya Papagayo’s concept, whose ambition is to peacefully blend and disappear into nature.

It also shows outdoor living in a new spirit: a new concept of chic which moves luxury to other horizons. Kasiiya Papagayo’s tented retreats are stylish, minimalist rafts that float, hidden, in the jungle. Their delicate wooden beams summarise this new philosophy: enjoying the earth without consuming it.

It is designed to facilitate informal ways of working in the shared areas of the office – such as active receptions and touch down points, break-out spaces, cafes and co-working environments – to support creative thinking. revious collaborations with the 2LG team saw inspiration taken from renovations on their South London home and the wallpapers and fabrics they discovered on the journey.

Expanding on the originals, the latest designs draws on the colours, curves and aesthetics of their finished home.

Paired with the duo’s design signatures of colour, simplicity and elegance, the collaboration with FLOOR_STORY provided a perfect opportunity to create a range of captivating rugs ideal for the modern home interior.

he Highdown Hotel occupies a beautiful spot in West Sussex with the South Downs to one side and the coast at Goring-by-Sea to the other. The property was acquired by hospitality company Brunning and Price in 2018 and the site has undergone major renovation in order to meet the owners’ objective of marrying the history of

the building with the best in modern hotel technology and convenience.

Tom Foster, General Manager at the Highdown, worked alongside colleagues at Brunning and Price and specialist design teams to source the best finishes and solutions. The Highdown has 13 bedrooms, and high on the design priority list was the selection of a secure and stylish door entrance system.

Tom comments: “We conducted lots of research into door entrance systems. We were particularly looking for minimal design – subtle solutions that would work well with 5 6

our chosen doors. We also needed the solution to be secure and effortless to use – by staff and guests alike.”

by Häfele. Dialock is an advanced identification and locking system which uses electronic keys, terminals and programming units to allow authorised access.

Dialock has been fitted on all guestroom doors, as well as on the main entrance door to the building. The main entrance is controlled by the Dialock WT210 wall reader, a mains operated wall terminal for offline operation. The entire setup is controlled via the Dialock Hotel software management tool.

Tom continues: “First and foremost we liked the aesthetics of Dialock.

We have slim silver door handles with a small disc below showing the wifi symbol. Guests simply hold

their key cards near the disc for access. The look is minimalist and clean.

“We also liked the fact that the keycards are slimline but very robust, they don’t have magnetic strips so they can’t get wiped or corrupted. We’ve experienced that issue before, particularly when keycards are in contact with mobile phones, and it can be very disruptive.”

Once Dialock was installed, the Häfele team then spent two days training staff at the Highdown in usage – 5 7

including changing keycards and setting up new ones. Select staff were also shown how to set cards to allocate authorisation to certain individuals at certain times. For example, housekeeping staff might be issued with cards which give them room access between the hours of 9am and 3pm.

irsch Bedner Associates (HBA), the world’s leading hospitality design firm, has completed the first Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Beijing, China this year 2019. Conceptualised as a modern-day courtyard mansion, Mandarin Oriental Hotel conveys and reinterprets the rich history of “Wang Fu”, the aristocratic residences built in the Qing Dynasty, with its distinctively contemporary design.

“The language we chose to use is decidedly modern, but underlined with a narrative of the Chinese tradition and craftsmanship,” said HBA Partner, Federico Masin.

Ideally located in the busy heart of Beijing, with the iconic Forbidden City just steps away, Mandarin Oriental Hotel delivers a unique and timeless experience for both international travelers and local guests.

The guests are brought into a skylight court when they enter the transit lobby from the street or the adjacent mall. Inside, a central water feature surrounded by dark stone facades and soft-lit lampshades pays homage to the historic well.

Continuing into the entryway, guests will marvel at the embroidered cobalt and gold panels, accompanied by a welcoming fireplace, timber walls trimmed with dark lacquer shelves, and autumnal colored area rugs. An energetic and richly hued three-fish objet d’art designed especially for the hotel by Frank Gehry hangs in the centre, creating a dynamic focal point.

The fifth floor is home for Café Zi, MO Bar, and The Library, all of which open onto an expansive rooftop garden terrace with spectacular views of the ancient imperial palace. Café Zi, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, is envisioned as a Chinese garden blossoming in the morning sun.

Laser-cut floral panels half-descended from the ceiling, and ceramic-tiled partitions framed in dark timber create pockets of semi-private dining areas.

A decorative screen at one end of the cafe becomes a sliding door to MO Bar, a midnight garden where alchemists create signature drinks. The dark lacquered cabinets and leather paneled pull-out drawers remind the guests of the past Chinese apothecaries who mixed potions to produce efficacious remedies for ailing royalty and aristocrats.

The Library, a twostory modern drawing room serving a range of palatable small bites, completes the epicurean journey. The theme of The Library draws inspiration from Australian Sir George Ernest Morrison, a Government adviser known for his extraordinary adventures to China.

A fresh palette and understated design create a contemplative place for browsing soughtafter artworks and books, including a 60-volume The Complete Collection of Chinese Arts, covering the nation’s art treasures over a period of 5000 years.

Connecting to the sixth floor, the stairwell is designed to create warm glowing linear steps within an enclosed “lantern” gently leading guests up to their rooms, as well as the spa and wellness centre which features a 25m lap pool with sky roof. The four individually-themed spa suites, inspired by Chinese gardens, promise an exceptional relaxation.

Wallcoverings featuring sweeping Willows are framed in timber archways, conveying a subtle interpretation of garden pavilions.

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel houses 73 spacious rooms which are among the largest in Beijing.

The rooms are designed with a contemporary and sophisticated residential style, blended with subtle traditional Chinese elements. The inspirations from the Imperial Era is represented by the fourposter beds, which refer to sleeping chambers of the princes that once lived in the mansions of Wangfujing.

Other nods to traditional Chinese design include headboard panels with harmoniously aligned flora and fauna and a marble relief engraved with stylized clouds in the bathroom, resembling the Forbidden City’s stone craved stairway. INEX: What were your wishes regarding the new interior?

Sabrina: I wanted there to be flow between indoor and outdoor spaces, no clear separation with clean and contemporary lines. I envisaged a lot of natural materials plus a cloud of white with pops of bright colours and strong art pieces.

It is two steps away from a very traditional village. It was an old property where only the structure was kept to build something completely new. It has a typical Mediterranean garden that was designed

Where did you get the furniture? Did you use existing pieces, too? Is there a story about a ‘special’ piece of furniture – if so, which piece and what’s the story?

A lot of my furniture comes from my stores, I ordered all of it to be customised by brands such as B&B, Paola Lenti, Flexform etc. I also buy a lot of travelling – some pieces from Mykonos, Capri, Indonesia.

My favourite piece is my Baccarat Zenith chandelier – I sent them a sample of my Tai Ping green carpet and they did crystal “pampilles” to match it!

I can look at it the whole day. Concerning the art, I have bought from galleries around the world but I guess my new favourite one is the Arik Levy structure in our garden.

How would you describe the interior style?

Fresh, contemporary but comfortable.

Where do you take your inspiration from?

The surrounding Mediterranean landscape, my travels, magazines, galleries.

Regarding the decoration, is there any concept?

Maybe seasonal aspects?

I am always changing everything – I have just finished building our outside gym surrounded by roses. I love having fun and switching up during seasons and holidays (Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s day, spring). The best way to do that without permanent changes is buying new flowers, changing placemats, napkin rings etc. I can even decorate my tables with surrounding things such as lemons or roses.

What is your favourite area in this home and why?

The pool area. We can spend entire days there.

There is the bar area which is always fun, an in-built sitting area with Dolce leopard fabric, my own beach with sand and Paola Lenti furniture reminding me of Mexico and my husband’s space that looks like a tent from the Beverly Hills Hotel. The garden required something that would complement and not draw attention away from the Henry Moore sculpture. These benches are a contemporary take on an old style of outdoor seating, designed to enable people to engage in conversation, embrace or kiss. Gigantic beam sections of green English oak have been hand carved to create an ergonomic and attractive seat surface. The benches were hand-carved using traditional gouges and mallets.

Gates is drawn to industrial and agricultural architecture, including jetties and pylons, and the paraphernalia that populates these sites, such as containers and crates. Gates is often struck by the balance and beauty of chance compositions; how stacked and piled objects present themselves sculpturally. The timber has been sawn, scraped, planed, and cleft to emphasise the woods’ varying surfaces.

MY SEOUL Designer/maker: Cristina Zani Wood supplier: GS Timber Wood species: British beech, olive and lime Inspired by Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities, Zani’s work is a reflection on the urban environment. The My Seoul collection is influenced by the contrast between South Korea’s sombre modern architecture and its vibrant ancient wooden temples and painted palaces.

Zani has borrowed elements from the city’s landscape to visually describe it and subtly suggest it to the viewer. Like South Korea’s architecture, the pieces show the vulnerability of materials when exposed to time and elements.

The gallery bench is designed to sit in the middle of a room and is 900mm deep to allow for sitting on both sides. The foyer bench is designed to sit at the edge of the room and is 600mm deep to allow for sitting on one side only. The gently pillowed top and bottom give the benches a very natural feel.

LATIS CHAIR Designer: Samuel Wilkinson Studio Manufacturer: The Conran Shop Wood species: Ash The LATIS range is a collection of three lightweight, versatile chairs that all share the same steam-bent frame made from a single piece of specially selected ash.

The elegant Viennese-plaited lattice straw version is refined and super-light. There are also plywood and upholstered versions which are most suitable for commercial environments such as restaurants. All the seat components have been cut into recesses within the ash frames to ensure the chair appears light and modern.

MAX TABLE Designer: Max Lamb Manufacturer: Hem Wood supplier: Zamperetti Legnami SpA Wood species: American Douglas fir, white ash At 3m long, Max Table is designed to be a centrepiece in any environment, from conference spaces to dinner parties at home. The table’s simplistic design is deceivingly sophisticated and has been carefully considered with shipping and smart assembly in mind. Douglas fir was selected for its virginal colour tone, characterful grain and ability to withstand usage.

SCIENCE MUSEUM LAB STOOL Designer/manufacturer: King and Webbon Client: Science Museum CNC Routing: Fineline Wood supplier: Winwood Products Wood species: European beech ply King and Webbon collaborated with the Science Museum to create a stackable stool that they hope to be the start of a new sustainable approach to flat-pack furniture.

The stool is delivered in a robust, reusable cardboard storage case and can be put together in under 15 minutes using just an Allen key. The design is inspired by the classic stacking lab stools we remember from our school days. Made using beech, the stool offers a real solution to small space living.

BIO IRIDESCENT SEQUIN Designer/maker: Elissa Brunato University/college: Central Saint Martins Wood supplier: Celluforce Bio-engineering wood/cellulose: Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE) Wood species: Canadian softwood Kraft pulp Bio Iridescent Sequin is a response to the unsustainable shimmering beads and sequins currently used in fashion and textiles. Brunato’s sequin uses bio-technologies to create colourful shimmering sequins from naturally abundant wood. Through extracting the crystalline form of cellulose, the wood imitates the alluring visual aesthetics of shiny plastic while remaining lightweight, strong and compostable.

KENT STICK CHAIR Designer: Matthew Hensby University/college: Building Crafts College Wood supplier: South East Forestry and Tyler Hardwoods Wood species: English ash Kent Stick Chair is a contemporary Windsor chair made from green ash selected from a coppiced woodland in Kent. Hensby’s ambition was to develop a contemporary chair from traditional processes. The chair was created using hand tools and embraces the textures made by the tools.

The piece was assembled with moisture differential joinery, resulting in a chair that becomes tighter and stronger as the components dry around one another. The timber has been finished with an organic linseed oil paint.

BURNOUT Designer: Francesco Feltrin University/college: Royal College of Art Wood species: spruce, pine, fir, birch and poplar Feltrin was inspired by the Bruder Klaus Chapel by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. Taking Zumthor’s idea of burning out a wooden mould, Feltrin adapted it to work with low-hazard resin and paper. The paper is rolled andtwisted in different variations to create a mould that is later burnt out. Burnout is about designing the void that will be chiselled by fire. A layer of newspaper pages remains stuck to the final object, transforming a disposable newspaper in something that will last for decades.

ISO CABINETS Designer: Jack Bibbings University/college: Building Crafts College Wood supplier: Tyler Hardwoods Wood species: English ash and oak These playful cabinets have been inspired

by Bridget Riley and the Op-Art movement, which is based on geometric abstraction and illusion. The name Iso refers to the fact that the cabinets’ geometry is based on an isometric drawing that incorporates 30-, 60and 90-degree angles. Iso also points to the Greek word for equal as the carcasses of each cabinet are exactly the same.

UDON STOOL Designer: Anton Mikkonen University/college: The Sir John Cass School of Art Wood species: ash As a young boy Mikkonen was fascinated by woodgrain and knots. He would look for knots near each other and create faces and other shapes. With the Udon Stool, Mikkonen has matched the uniqueness of woodgrain with a very unique aesthetic. The stool consists of five parts, all CNC routed with a 2D CNC machine.

he opening of the company’s new UK headquarters in Birmingham was a perfect opportunity to bring this approach to life to create a truly collaborative, living workplace.

The Greenhouse, situated on the 10th floor of the Colmore Building, needed to be a space to not only inspire Interface’s talented team, but also to act as a shared hub for customers and stakeholders from across the country.

Finding the right location for Interface’s new UK home was crucial to bringing the manufacturer’s vision to life.

As the UK’s first Biophilic City and one steeped in manufacturing history, Birmingham provided an ideal setting to represent the company’s commitment to well-being and production expertise. The city’s central location also makes the

headquarters easily accessible to customers and colleagues.

The Greenhouse is Interface’s first location in Europe to bring its family of carbon neutral products together, from carpet tile to Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and nora rubber flooring. On entering the office, the eye is immediately drawn to a beautiful wisteria tree which sits in the centre of the open plan kitchen area. Its form is also reflected in the flooring through a custom-made 50m2 nora rubber inlay, which clearly demonstrates the versatility of the range.

Alternating textures and patterns across the office take people on a journey through shared working areas, breakout zones, more traditional workspaces and meeting rooms.

Mandy Leeming, Interface Design & Development Manager, EMEA, said: “The design of our UK headquarters had to be a showstopper. We wanted to get the balance right between creating a beautiful, healthy working space, but one which was also functional, suiting all styles of working at the same time.

Interface has drawn on its family of products to create the dynamic flooring across the workspace. The manufacturer’s latest carpet tile range, Ice Breaker, is just one way that biophilic design is incorporated into the space. This collection mimics the effect of scratched ice, and the etched lines of the surface create an organic geometry that moves fluidly across the floor.

Human Connections, a range which invokes the natural cues we seek in our busy lives, is used in the space to encourage people to come together and reconnect. It takes inspiration from the squares and piazzas found in European cities which are homes to communities and are spaces where people meet to spend time together.

Interface’s Luxury Vinyl Tile ranges seamlessly integrate with the carpet tile to create pathways through high traffic areas, while also reconnecting people with nature through the principles of biophilic design.

HOW TO COOK-UP A STATEMENT WITH COLOUR One of the best ways to create a statement within a kitchen is to introduce colour. But how do you create a wow-effect that will stand the test of time? Mark Findlay, Founder of Harvey Maria, shares some ideas on decorating with flooring.

T

he most obvious way to inject colour into a kitchen is through cabinets, appliances and paint finishes. The problem is that trends change season-onseason and very bold shades, in particular, can quickly date. A fabulous floor, on the other hand, can transform a new space but with a little more subtlety, be it part of a new kitchen design or floor-only refurb.

It’s only fairly recently that floors have become ‘less ordinary’. For so many years, they were an after-thought, chosen to complement everything around them.

Now, designs like our own ‘Dovetail’ and ‘Lattice’ are a key design element, allowing you to lead with the floor.

The practical features of LVT

Luxury vinyl tiles are an ideal option for the kitchen, because you can access endless designs with great performance benefits. Unlike many other materials, LVT is really easy to maintain, as well as being tough, waterproof and stain-resistant. It’s also very comfortable underfoot and far more forgiving in terms of droppages. Perhaps surprisingly, it can also be installed over underfloor heating, just like timber and tiles, for maximum comfort on chilly days.

Making a statement with pattern

Patterned designs bring real wow-factor to the kitchen.

Repeating linear patterns that combine a bold and natural tone work really well, as they draw the eye and introduce symmetry and colour, without being too overwhelming. Patterns can also be framed with plain tiles, or a contrasting decor, like a timber-effect. This creates a fabulous feature and can be used to zone 1 0 3

floor areas, like under a table or around a kitchen island.

In terms of colourways, more natural pigments and muted heritage shades offer the greatest longevity.

Oxford Blues, opulent greens, slates and merlots are all ‘on-trend’ but they’re also design classics, so they’ll stand the test of time.

From the floor up, colours can then be layered; a darker floor tone can be repeated on an island, on cabinets or walls.

For a traditional injection of colours, chequer boards are a great option. Black and white LVTs are always a popular choice and create a very smart look – but there are other options too. Our own Heritage Colours range also includes rich-toned Venetian Red and Bay Blue colour-ways, for a more contemporary twist.

If you’re looking to incorporate pattern, but prefer a neutral palette, Organics Design is a lovely option. It combines a mellow stone-effect with a cube-in-cube motif. Laid alternately, the geometric design creates an almost 3D illusion, alternating from light to dark – whilst repeating a single colour contrast creates a mini cube effect. It then combines the shades to create eight individual tiles, with a contrasting edge; four with a dark inner square and a light border, and four with light inner square and dark border.

Laid alternately, the geometric design creates

an almost 3D illusion, alternating from light to dark. When a single colour contrast is repeated, the tiles create a mini cube effect.

Endless other designs can be created by mixing the plain and patterned tiles, and by laying them at different angles.

Kährs has extended its wood flooring portfolio with a new collection of large format herringbone engineered wood designs, in styles described as ‘Modern Classic’. The designs are suitable for both residential and commercial applications.

THE QUIET FUN SOLUTION The London Gunnnersbury Park Museum is a perfect example of how highperformance acoustic solutions can solve the problem of noise in public and leisure places. As design trends continue towards minimal furniture and hard surfaces, it becomes increasingly important to reconcile aesthetics with personal comfort.

s part of its Heritage Lottery Funded redevelopment, London’s once-neglected Gunnersbury Park Museum has been transformed. It now boasts new gallery and learning spaces as well as a brand-new exhibit telling the stories of local people.

A new addition to the Regency Mansion is the pavilion, originally designed to house both the catering facilities and horse-drawn carriages that are a large part of the Park’s heritage. When considering its redesign, the architects wanted to create a space that would provide a hub for the Park. It needed to be a space that emotionally connected with visitors to the Museum and regular users of the Park.

With this in mind, the designers decided to specify Troldtekt panels. With their natural look and feel and acoustic properties, they were the ideal solution for the ceiling. It allowed them to use harder surface materials elsewhere to suit the architecture of the pavilion.

Path Design says: “We needed to ensure that we addressed what could be a relatively hard interior because of the heavy floors we needed for high traffic catering and the predominantly glazed elevations. As such, we looked to soften acoustically the space to reduce the background noise generated by the open kitchen and coffee machines, along with the general noise created by visitors.”

Delivering a luxurious and bespoke design, Ark Interiors, was able to create a high-end bar and restaurant setting for staff and customers to enjoy at The Propeller Bar & Grill, Humberside Airport.
