Phosphenes - are visual hallicucinations that appear as flashes of light or colored spots, even when there is no light entering the eye
Phospehenes was written as a part of the 2024 Praecepta x FLYDOLPHN call for proposals, and developed throughout the 2024/2025 winter The work explores different textural qualities that would be found in one’s visual field of view including, blotches, spots, static, and snow directly after closing one’e eyes As you listen to this work, feel free to close your eyes as well and compare your phospehene to the musical atmosphere around you
The work is a duet for multi-percussion and fixed and live electronics. The live element of the electronics are the amplified table to help with projection within the creation of the setup
This work was written by Chris Harris He is a percussionist, composer, and educator from Fairfield, California He currently lives in Bowling Green, Ohio where he attends Bowling Green State Univeristy as a candidate for the degree of Doctorate in Contemporary Music Performance (Percussion).
