This community center is designed as a “Rooted Welcome”—a place of warmth, grounding, and connection for refugees and displaced families beginning new lives in Portland. The design responds to the city’s gray climate and nature-centered ethos with an aesthetic that is emotionally uplifting, textural, and handmade. Drawing from mid-century modern bohemian influences, the space embraces natural materials, layered textiles, and lush greenery to create comfort and belongingacrosscultures.
Muted greens and blues echo Portland’s forests, while global craft traditions introduce familiar elements for a diverse population. Every design choice seeks to avoid institutional sterility, instead cultivating a setting of dignity, adaptability, and healing. This is a center that speaks a visual language of care—rooted in place, but open to the world.

COAST CAFE & BAKERY
The Coast Cafe and Bakery captures the atmospheric beauty of a foggy San Francisco morning overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, blending a warm and welcoming coastal aesthetic with sleek modern elements. The color palette— anchored by deep red, fog grey, and soft neutrals—echoes the city’s iconic skyline as seen through coastal mist. Walls in a muted fog grey create a calming, cocoon-like envelope, while warm wood tones and off-white accents in furnishings add visual warmth and natural texture. Deep red is used sparingly but deliberately in details, and decorative accents, offering a rich contrast and nod to the Golden Gate’s structure. The flooring is a sand-toned oak, groundingthespaceinanaturalcoastalfoundation.

Welcome to my home. This space reflects a curated blend of Americana warmthandEuropeanMid-Centuryrefinement.Thedesignisrootedinbalance and contrast—pairing nostalgic, regional references with clean, sculptural silhouettes. The color palette, inspired by a Southern Georgia coastal thunderstorm, introduces moody blues, deep greens, and soft neutrals, creating a richly atmospheric yet grounded interior. Vintage pieces, natural materials, and thoughtful detailing contribute to a space that feels both collectedandintentional—evocativeofplace, memory, andmoderncomfort.
FURNITURE
Exploring the intersection of Mid-Century clarity and Art Deco glamour through tight geometry and sculptural form. A curved sofa anchors the collection with graceful contours, while a faceted daybed and a sharply structured accent chair contrast with strong lines and tailored profiles. Each piece balances restraint and drama —offering refined silhouettes, rich textures, and a timeless sense of proportion.
