A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO, AND BOARD CHAIR
Dear Friend of CHRIS 180, On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and clients helped at CHRIS 180, thank you for being a generous supporter of our mission. Thanks to you and people like you, CHRIS 180 impacted the lives of 8,477 people last year and trained over 3,300 therapists, teachers and other professionals. Time and again, we see the demand for life-changing, trauma-informed services is huge—greater even than many initial predictions. In 2018, we celebrated the first anniversary of service at the Atlanta Police Foundation’s At-Promise Youth and Community Center, where CHRIS 180 is the lead partner—at the one-year mark, we had exceeded the estimate of youth served in the community for the first year by more than 300%. Last year, we began a new partnership as the
The totals are important because when we see all the people and all the outcomes together, we understand the immense scope of the impact that we have. Then the total multiplies because each person touches many other people…and the impact becomes enormous! CHRIS 180 is a team effort—staff, Board and supporters like you. Without you, we could never have achieved so much. Thank you, Kathy & Mona

We have become a sought-after partner for public schools, increasing our presence in schools by 30%. True to our mission to strengthen families, we launched two new re-entry programs with Fulton and

And finally, as trauma-informed care is becoming the standard for more and more caregivers, our CHRIS Training Institute increased the number of individuals trained by 49%. To support this growth, the obvious need and the demand for our services, we launched the Turning Point Capital Campaign in 2016, and exceeded our goal, raising more than $15 Million by the summer of 2018! We broke ground on our new Center of Excellence for Training, Education and Connections in March of 2018,

setting the stage for expansion and the long-term sustainability of CHRIS 180.
Chair, Board of Directors
Even as we grow and plan for future growth, we are proud of strong, consistent outcomes across our programs because every one of these numbers is made up of real people. As CHRIS 180 leadership, we have the honor of learning the names of many of these people, and seeing some of their stories up close as they overcome trauma with our help. We are proud of every life changed. And, we are very proud of the CHRIS 180 staff who work so hard to help children adults and families. They are the “boots on the ground” in service of our mission. In 2018, 39 staff members were promoted, making CHRIS 180 even stronger.

T U R N I N G P O I N T C A P I T A L C A M PA I G N A New Chapter For CHRIS 180
In April 2018, a small group of friends, supporters and CHRIS 180 staff gathered on the site of the future home of CHRIS 180’s Center of Excellence for Training, Education and Connections for a groundbreaking ceremony. The 20,000 square foot facility includes multipurpose space for the CHRIS Training Institute; a new challenge ropes course for corporate groups and counseling services; a suite for an expanded Adoptions and Keeping Families Together program specializing in strengthening families, family preservation, and achieving permanency for hard-to-place children and sibling groups; and administrative offices. In August 2018, we announced that the campaign had reached its $15 million goal to increase our capacity to help more than 13,000 people each year. Construction on the Center of Excellence continued throughout the fall and neared completion by the end of the year, and staff members moved into the new facility in May 2019. The project would not have been possible without the generous financial support of corporate, foundation and individual donors. CHRIS 180 is grateful for our village of supporters.

2018 marked CHRIS 180’s fourth year providing School-Based Mental Health services in local elementary, middle and high schools. Primarily serving Title I schools in the Atlanta Public School System, along with Clayton, DeKalb and Fulton County Schools, CHRIS 180’s school-based counseling creates easy access to mental health resources for students who need counseling and support to help them succeed. Our approach includes not only a therapist at each school, but the adults in many schools also receive trauma training, coaching and support in many of the schools. The 2017-2018 school year saw rapid growth, benefiting many students. CHRIS 180 began the year in 16 schools, and by the end of 2018, our therapists were in 27 schools! In 2018, the CHRIS Training Institute extended its reach throughout Metro Atlanta, offering more courses, workshops and classes for professionals in the behavioral health, nonprofit and education arena on recognizing and responding to children, youth and adults who have experienced trauma in their lives. The CHRIS Training Institute team worked with mental health professionals to extend Continuing Education workshops on topics including Trauma Assessments, Trauma Toolboxes, Play in Family Therapy, Grief and Loss, Attachment and Trauma, Approval Obsession, and Two Thumbs Up: Using Music and Movies in Therapy. CHRIS 180 also traveled across the state and region to present our unique work to larger audiences at conferences such as: The National Council for Behavioral Health and the Daniel Memorial Conference. Educators and administrators made up one of the CHRIS Training Institute’s largest groups of training attendees in 2018, thanks to the work of Project 180. This program is an initiative launched in 2016 through a grant by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). In addition to providing schoolbased mental health services, Project 180 provides training sessions for teachers and administrators in our partner schools using Trauma STARs and the evidenced based Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) framework. Data collected in 2018 shows a drop in student referrals for discipline related incidents and staff turnover rates as well as increasing attendance rates. Educators have reported increased understanding about the impact of trauma on their students’ lives, the school, community and themselves personally. We look forward to continued work with our partner schools and opportunities to positively impact the lives of students, families, educators, schools and communities.

STRENGTHENING YOUNG ADULT S Programs Give Stability & Hope
Imagine aging out of foster care with no family, and no place to call home. Imagine becoming homeless due to family violence or rejection. Imagine having no one in your corner. It’s an all too true reality for thousands of teenagers in Georgia and across the country. CHRIS 180 has two programs that work collaboratively with state partners and other organizations to help keep these young adults from living on the streets. CHRIS 180’s TransitionZ program helps traumatized homeless youth by providing safe, stable, supportive housing in our Summit Trail Apartment complex. In 2018, many of our clients found the stability and help they were looking for from CHRIS 180. Working with life coaches and therapists, our young people began to achieve success. Of those who were unemployed when they moved in, 78% found jobs while living at Summit Trail and more than half are seeking higher education while working in various fields. TransitionZ works alongside our Drop-In Center, The SPOT, to help people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, ages 16-24, with housing, therapy, life skills and education. CHRIS 180 partners with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, to give often-forgotten youth the opportunity to create meaningful connections and receive help in supportive environments that foster personal accountability and growth. In 2018, CHRIS 180’s Drop-In Center saw a significant increase in daily clients served, thanks to promotional support through grants and the expansion of
programs offered. With the support of Macy’s, clients were given paid apprenticeships to gain valuable job experience while working in the CHRIS 180 community, and with funding from Accenture, clients received online learning classes and cultural enrichment activities.
OUR IMPACT Danielle and Oliver Patton and their three children moved to Summit Trail Apartments in 2016. The couple, who struggled to find stable housing and employment, were able to focus on gaining permanent work and healing. Danielle, often served as a role model for other young parents in the program and often took on a leadership role at various CHRIS 180 events. At the end of 2018 they moved out into their own 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, fully furnished home thanks to CHRIS 180. They’re looking forward to owning their home soon, and have become thriving, productive members of their community.
BUILDING BLOCKS OF SUCCESS 88% of youth in TransitionZ are working and/or in school Two years after leaving TransitionZ, 88% are safely housed and 88% are employed Four years after leaving TransitionZ, 100% are safely housed and 100% are employed

PROVIDING SAFE HOMES & ENVIRONMENTS Pa r t n e r s h i p s Ke y To S u c c e s s
At our core, CHRIS 180 is an organization committed to helping people heal and strengthening families in ways that foster dignity and respect. We do whatever it takes. For each one of us, having a safe place to live is a basic need. It enables us to have foundation and a sense of dignity and pride. CHRIS 180’s work in the behavioral health extends to helping to secure housing for those who are facing homelessness, often connected to their mental health diagnosis. Our Outreach and Community Housing program works to provide rapid re-housing and re-entry housing assistance for young adults, young parents and families to help them become contributing members of our community. THE WHITE PARTY June 8, 2018 Did you know CHRIS 180 was the first nonprofit organization in the state to openly serve, reach out to and celebrate LGBTQ+ youth? The White Party, our annual cocktail party that supports outreach and services for LGBTQ+ youth, raised more than $40,000 to support these efforts. With hundreds of signature white outfits on display and a silent disco by Yvonne Monet, guests had a great time partying the night away at Mason Fine Arts while ensuring CHRIS 180 can fund vital programs to help LGBTQ+ young adults move out of homelessness into a new life with counseling, safe housing and valuable life skills.
THE CHRISTAL BALL August 18, 2018 Co-Chairs: Sheila Weidman-Farley & Becca Sherrill The 18th annual gala, The CHRIStal Ball, was a special night for CHRIS 180. During the event, we announced the completion of our Turning Point Capital Campaign and raised over $340,000 to help our children, youth and families change the direction of their lives. Honorees were Cyril Turner, CHRIS 180 Board Member, President of Year Up, and David Moody, CEO of C.D. Moody Construction for their leadership in raising $15 million towards our efforts to double our footprint. More than 400 people were in the audience for the fundraising dinner and were moved not only by the campaign announcement but by remarkable stories told by CHRIS 180 youth, Zach Milner and Levi Smith. Zach and Levi shared the important role CHRIS 180 played in changing the direction of their lives.
