




Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club is proud to offer a number of Sub-Clubs for our members, providing a variety of recreational and social activities for all walks of life.
Our Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club members can enjoy the many benefits of belonging to a Sub-Club.
Belonging to a Sub-Club provides opportunities for like-minded people to gather, create lifelong memories with new friends whilst learning new skills.
Our Sub-Clubs would like to welcome new members to get in touch and join. Details about each Club and contacts have been shared here to help you connect.
Our Billiards and Snooker Club started in the late 1950’s and with our rich history, we still have an active membership of around 50+ players.
Players 18+ can participate and all Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club members have unlimited access to the 3 full sized tables for use from 10am – 11pm daily.
The Club is looking for Junior members (15+) to mentor as well as increase female memberships.
Great prizes to be won at the end of year competitions such as hams / whiskey / club vouchers.
End of year winners (singles) will also get their names on the Club Sporting Champion Board.
Tuesday and Thursday nights 7pm We welcome CHP RSL Members
The Billiards and Snooker Club also have a representative team that plays against other Western Suburbs RSL Teams every Monday.
Social doubles competitions are held with club voucher prizes to be won.
In-house competitions are held weekly as well as end of year competitions. Competitions are free to enter but players would need to register.
Our Darts Club has a long history at Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club. It was started by two wonderful members Dawn and Jack Bates early in 1970 when the darts were played in the auditorium, as they still are today.
The Darts Club welcomes all members 18+ who would like to try their hand at darts and to enjoy a fun and friendly evening with other members. The average age of our current members is 40-80.
New members are always welcome to come along and play in the evenings.
Help and guidance will be given to new members regarding the playing of the darts at all times. Members can also play in various Club competitions in the Canterbury Bankstown District throughout the year.
Club vouchers are issued for the weekly winners and placings, plus prizes for the highest scores.

MEETING DETAILS
Tuesday nights 7:30pm
Social darts are played in the auditorium on Tuesday nights, starting time 7:30pm. Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL members that would like to play must have their names recorded by 7:15pm.
Six games are played on the night, approximately finished time is 9:45pm.
In addition to the regular weekly dates, there are singles and doubles championships played between June – August. Extra club vouchers are available during the Championships season.
Built from their love of fishing, the Fishing Club has been operational since 1970s. All financial members from Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club are eligible to join and participate in The Fishing Club.
Members can join at our monthly meeting and be fishing on the next available trip.
The aim and objective of the Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Deep Sea Fishing Club is to promote deep sea fishing and further the sport of fishing for the pleasure of its members.
The Fishing Club encourages goodwill and to promote the Fishing Club to the greater community via all the members.

The Fishing Club has winch reels available on loan for beginners to get you started or if you are not ready to invest in your own gear. Charter boats are booked for two Sundays a month during warmer months and one Sunday a month during winter. Typically, around the second and fourth Sunday.
Charter boats depart from Woolwich or Cronulla and take between 10 and 14 persons.
The Golf Club was formed soon after Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club was founded approx. 70 years ago. It was originally set up to compete against other RSL organisations and used to compete against other states where some our members represented NSW against Victoria.
The Golf Club has approximately 30 members of all ages.
A combination of men, women and the occasional youth with a parent join us on Sunday mornings
for comradery, competition and exercise on the greens.
The Golf Club is always welcoming and looking for new golfers from all levels of expertise.
The Golf Club is supported by a subsidy from the Board and after 5 games we supply a club shirt, cap and other club apparel.

Every 2nd Sunday morning except
The Golf Club plays at approximately 22 different golf courses across the Sydney area with usually one course outside the metropolitan area. They play A, B and C Grades depending on the member’s golfing ability. During the game there are golf balls to be won for achievements such as four ‘Par 3’, ‘Nearest the Pin’ in each grade as well as ‘Drive’ and ‘2nd and Longest Drive’.
After each game our members are emailed a synopsis of the day with the results of the past game, and a sign-on sheet to play the next game and news of any upcoming activities such as Member Nights, ANZAC Nights etc.
The Lawn Bowls Club was formed in 1965 by Ernie Gilfoyle. The group then commenced playing at local clubs.
The Lawn Bowls Club welcomes Men and Women bowlers over the age of 18 affiliated with a bowling club – non bowlers are also welcome.
Our trips are fun days for members where people meet other bowlers and potential new members.
The cost for the trips are subsidised by the Lawn Bowls Club plus all new members will receive a club shirt upon joining.

DETAILS 1st Sunday of the month
The Lawn Bowls Club plays on 1st Sunday of each month at local bowling clubs as well as 4 coach trips to bowling clubs located outside of Sydney Metropolitan area.
In June, the Lawn Bowls Club usually holds a President and Officers Day and invite 3 members various clubs to visit. During the December game, there will be a presentation for bowlers.
The Line Dancing Club has been supported by CanterburyHurlstone Park RSL Club for more than 25 years.
In the beginning, they were dancing to a live country music band Ben McCauley and The Raiders, as well as alternating with 2 line dance instructors playing CDs.
The Line Dancing Club is inclusive of all financial Club members of any age group as long as they are
physically able to exercise.
Enjoy many benefits of attending The Line Dancing Club with social interaction, fun environment, enjoyment, friendship and to help raise money for charity.
Line dancing is a fun activity, great exercise for your body and mind.

There are 4 Line Dancing social events each year on Sundays 11:30am –3pm in February, May, September and December. All money raised are donated to charity.
Classes are arranged to cater for different levels. Experienced beginners 3pm-4pm, Improvers/Easy Intermediate 4pm-5pm, Golden Oldies 5-6pm, Classic dances various levels.
Probus Sub Club started with 2 ex Rotarians, Lionel Brown and Bill Hogan. They wanted to create a group where people can enjoy activities with their companions and provide an enduring circle of friends for like-minded men and women to join.
The Probus Club cater for seniors and retirees both young and old who are looking for a new network of friends for fun and interesting things to do.
There are approximately 60 members who enjoy each other’s company at meetings and expand that companionship when attending outings and trips away.
There is a guest speaker at each meeting from a wide range of organisations and walks of life.

Besides the monthly outings, the Probus Club will also have at least one annual getaway. Highlights: April – ANZAC Memorial in Hyde Park; May – bus trip to Richmond / Windsor with lunch; June – lunch at “The Apprentice” restaurant run by the TAFE students; September – 4 nights bus trip to Yamba!
Probus also arrange table bookings for our members for CHPRSL shows and events so you can join a table of friends and not have to sit on your own.
Many members catch up for coffee or lunch in the café or one of the other eateries in the club after the monthly meeting.
Toastmasters started in 1972 as part of the global Toastmasters group. Toastmasters offers a safe and supportive way to improve your leadership and public speaking skills while meeting friendly new people and enjoying a warm and social atmosphere.
Our members range from early 20s to 70s and beyond from all walks of life.
Toastmasters welcome those with no experience in public speaking who want to improve in this area.
It is a great opportunity to start a new hobby and for those wanting to practice speaking skills to use in their working life.
Our friendly club provides new ways to meet different people in your local area.
We also have people who are professional or very experienced public speakers who still believe they have something to learn and much to offer new members.

2nd and 4th Monday of the month 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
Toastmaster holds regular competition with other Clubs and members can choose to actively participate or enjoy watching others compete. Where time permits, the members will usually enjoy a drink or dinner together after the meetings.
This is a great place to gain feedback, learn how to evaluate others in an effective way and develop leadership skills if desired through a structured Toasmasters program.
The very first day trip we had together as the Travel Club was in February 2009. The Travel Club started a little before then, making the Club 15 years old this year!
Travel Club caters for any age individual with a moderate level of fitness. Most of our excursions will involve a little walking etcetera.
The majority of our members are currently seniors.

The Travel Club provides inexpensive day-trip to our members, travelling to interesting sites in and around Sydney once a month. Occasionally, they will do two-day overnight trips to sites further afield. Very occasionally, they will travel overseas.
Upcoming events are publicised in a monthly newsletter available at the meeting.
Copies of the current “Canterbury Coachers” are available at Reception or by emailing Mark for a copy.
The Sub-Branch Auxiliary was founded in 1939 as Women’s Auxiliary to help service men and women at war. Later years it became Sub-Branch Auxiliary to help raise money for all service men and women.
They are a close knit group with 13 members however, they are always welcome new members to join their family and help at various events.
Sub-Branch caters for both ex-service men and women as well as current service men and women. Money raised by Auxiliary goes to Sub-Branch Veterans Charities. They attend SubBranch meetings, ANZAC days, Remembrance days etc.
Throughout the year, Sub-Branch assists a few different events such as: selling of poppies for ANZAC Day/Remembrance Day; Mother’s Day stall; Father’s Day Stall and Legacy stall etc.
All of the funds that are raised are proudly donated to Sub-Branch Veterans Charities.
