HARNESSING THE POWER OF THE CLOUD

The birthplace of such cloud computing giants as Microsoft and Amazon and home to well-respected data analytics companies like Tableau Software and Context Relevant, Washington State has become a world center for cloud computing, big data and engineering. Indeed, the region’s expertise in the cloud has drawn such legendary firms as IBM, VMware, CenturyLink and Oracle to build new cloud centers in the Puget Sound region. Few places in the United States and even the world can match Washington’s talented pool of more than 313,000 technologybased workers who are employed by 14,000+ companies statewide. More than 90% of these businesses employ fewer than 20 employees, exciting new startups that are joining established players in creating the next computing revolution. These companies include data collectors like Zillow and Inrix as well as smaller players such as Skytap and 2nd Watch who specialize in helping companies shift their major applications to the cloud and Apptio and ExtraHop, who help manage operating and system costs once they are migrated.

3

A ROBUST ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM

The cloud and big data are just the latest evolution in an industry that is both mature and entrepreneurial. Talent is drawn to this region by its entrepreneurial mindset as well as the critical mass of world-class companies that anchor it. Energetic urban centers such as Seattle’s South Lake Union and Fremont neighborhoods appeal to young tech professionals. It is here that collaboration fuels innovation and invention. This culture of creativity allows new ideas to surface quickly as startups, incubators and accelerators innovate in the shadows of cloud computing pioneers. A rich mixture of old and new combine to create new ideas, ones that cross over into other industries such as aerospace, advanced materials, life sciences and clean technology. This creates a spillover effect throughout the state where hardware, software, big data, mobile apps and even gaming find new uses in other industries, from revolutionary new medical products that blur the lines between technology and medicine, to exciting new advances in augmented reality that can be used to train a new generation of astronauts. This ecosystem of innovation is fed by venture capitalists, startups and innovation partnership zones; supported by cuttingedge R&D from our universities and national laboratory – one of only 10 in the United States – a robust networking infrastructure, and a passion for creating the most amazing products and services possible.

4

ENERGIZING, INSPIRATIONAL LIFESTYLE

Tech workers who come to Washington tend to stay in Washington. When it comes to the best places to make a living based on income taxes, cost of living, unemployment and workplace environment, MoneyRates. com ranked the greater Seattle area #1. Eighty percent of S&E students stay in Washington State after graduation, ensuring a steady stream of new talent. The area also attracts workers from all over the world, drawn by the natural beauty of the area and the endless career opportunities in ICT. The ability to work and live in vibrant urban cores appeals to millennials who value their five minute commute as much as the energy and diversity of metropolitan centers where trendy eateries, restaurants and entertainment venues are just steps away. And when they’re not punching code, it’s a quick drive to go snow skiing, mountain biking, kayaking or even to another country – Canada is just a few hours away from the state’s major population centers.

APImetrics uses predictive analytics and machine learning to solve real business problems. The API and Internet of Things revolution relies on APIs performing optimally to ensure everything works seamlessly and well. But how can IT managers, application developers and vendors be certain the APIs interconnecting networks, products and devices are operating as designed? Inefficient services have a cascading effect, resulting in poor performance that lead to unhappy customers. The key is knowing that you have issues before your customers do and APImetrics provides that assurance. APImetrics provides easy integration for enterprises and operates globally on multiple clouds and can be installed inside corporate firewalls or on IoT and mobile networks. UNIQUE SELLING POINTS

• Machine Learning AI identifies actual system performance and issues • REST/SOAP support with integrated security for seamless ongoing performance analysis • Tests and monitors performance inside and outside firewall • Global test reach on multiple clouds and cellular networks MEETING GOALS
