Detector
Fire Alarm Control Panel
Operation: Divided into zones, with devices in each zone connected in parallel
Functionality: Provide basic fire detection and alarm notification
Information: Can identify the activated zone but not the specific device within that zone
Cost: Generally cost-effective, suitable for smaller buildings with straightforward needs
Manual Testing: Require manual inspection and testing
Applications: Commonly used in smaller commercial buildings, residential properties, and older facilities
Notification Device
Operation: Devices are individually identified and addressed on a loop or network
Functionality: Provide detailed information about the exact location of an alarm or fault
Information: Can pinpoint the specific device and its status, aiding in quicker response and maintenance
Cost: Usually more expensive than conventional systems but offer advanced features
Manual Testing: May support remote testing and diagnostics, reducing maintenance costs
Applications: Suitable for larger and more complex buildings, such as offices, hospitals, and industrial facilities
Operation: May be addressable or conventional but include advanced software and control features
Functionality: Offer advanced programming, analytics, and integration with other building systems
Information: Provide detailed information and can adapt to changing conditions, reducing false alarms
Cost: Generally more expensive due to enhanced capabilities
Manual Testing: May support remote testing, self-diagnostics, and predictive maintenance
Applications: Used in complex, high-occupancy buildings where integration with other systems is important, like airports and large hotels
Operation: Use wireless technology for communication between devices and the control panel
Functionality: Offer flexibility in installation and are quick to install with minimal disruption
Information: Provide similar capabilities to addressable systems but without the need for extensive wiring
Cost: May have higher upfront costs due to wireless technology but can save on installation
Manual Testing: May support remote testing and diagnostics
Applications: Suitable for buildings where traditional wired systems are impractical, such as historic structures, temporary installations, and retrofit projects
Function: Detect changes in temperature, typically associated with a fire
Use Cases: Ideal for areas with high dust, fumes, or smoke, as they are less prone to false alarms
Limitations: May have slower response time compared to smoke detectors, as they respond to increased heat rather than the presence of smoke focused on changes in temperature
Function: Detect the presence of smoke particles or combustion byproducts in the air
Use Cases: Widely used in various indoor environments to detect fires quickly
Types: Include ionization (fast response to flaming fires) and photoelectric (better at detecting smoldering fires) smoke detectors identify the presence of smoke, a common indicator of a fire
Function: Allow individuals to manually trigger a fire alarm by activating a pull lever or push button
Use Cases: Placed in easily accessible locations for people to initiate an alarm when they observe a fire or other emergency
Role: Serve as an immediate means for alerting building occupants to evacuate or take action immediate manual activation of alarms
Function: Combine multiple sensing technologies (e g , heat and smoke) in a single device
Use Cases: Enhance detection accuracy and reduce false alarms by considering various environmental factors
Benefits: Can respond to a wider range of fire types and environmental conditions, making them suitable for diverse applications combine multiple detection methods to improve accuracy and reduce false alarms
The central hub of a fire detection and notification system, responsible for receiving signals from detectors and manual call points, and processing these signals to identify and respond to fire or emergency situations When an alarm is detected, the control panel activates audible and visual alarms, indicating the presence of a threat and pinpointing the specific zone or location affected. It also supports manual testing and maintenance procedures, communicates with monitoring services or emergency responders, and serves as a critical component for ensuring the safety of building occupants and facilitating timely evacuation.
Internal Hydrant
UBBL By-Law 196,197
A protected lobby designed for fire fighting access is required to separate or isolate the staircase from fire and smoke infiltration
External Hydrant
UBBL By-Law 225(2)
Consists of a system of pipework connected directly to the main water supply to provide water to each and every hydrant outlet. The water is discharged into the fire engine from which it is then pumped and sprayed over the fire
Pillar hydrant should located at not less than 6 meters from the building and not more then 30 meters away from the breeching inlet from the building.
Generally, hydrants are spaced at not more than 90 meters apart along access roads of minimum 6.1 meters in width and capable of withstanding a load of 26 tons from the fire fighting vehicles

Folding up walls allow for the flexibility of having a larger space when needed, and still being able to be more private and secure in the night time or when a enclosed spaces is needed
Louver panels enable ventilation when the wall is fully closed and control sunlight to avoid glare They can be opened to varying degrees according to the needs of the space's users

Folding Walls with Louver Panels
02 Rice Cake Production Factory Verticle Louvre Facade
A louvre facade spans from the ground floor to the ceiling of the first floor, covering the curtain wall behind it Other than givng an aesthetic view to the building, this maximizes natural lighting in the factory area while also blocking out excessive sunlight that might cause unwanted glare. Louvers can be adjusted according to the desired amount of natural light and oriented to accommodate the direction of sunlight.
An extended sunhood on windows next to the window seat reflects sunlight into the space instead of allowing direct sunlight to shine through, easing the eyes of the users sitting on the window seat This blocks out glare while still allowing for views outside.
