A Time to Rejoice!
Friday, June 24th is the day that will go down in history as the day that the Supreme Court of the United States overturned Roe vs Wade. I was just beginning to sit down and write this newsletter article when the news came out. We had been waiting for days as to when it would be officially announced; and God came through. Let us thank the Lord, praise His name and honor Him for all His faithfulness and the answer to our prayers. He is holy and He is just and He answers the cries of His people. We have been waiting for this news for 50 years! All glory to you God! As I sit and listen to countless politicians cry foul over this decision; I have to chuckle. Where was the outcry when Roe was instated 50 years ago? Prior to that egregious decision, America was abortion free for 150 years! This 50 year precedent was not based on constitutional law by any means. Yet, it’s being treated as though we have taken away a basic human right. Where was the outcry for the nearly 63 million Americans terminated? Our current sitting President is outraged and pointing his finger at the previous “extremist” administration for this recent decision. Quite frankly, I would like to thank our 45th president Donald J. Trump. This may have been the very reason God placed him there. Thank you Donald J. Trump for the most conservative court we have had in a very long time. Abortion has not been abolished, only sent back to the states. Here in NJ nothing has changed. We know that many states will be putting together legislation to secure abortion rights. Currently, thirteen states have “trigger” laws meaning abortion will be immediately banned. Those states are Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North and South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming. Five states that had previous abortion bans can now reinstate those bans. They are Alabama, Arizona, Michigan, West Virginia and Wisconsin. I have said this publicly and once again in writing if we want to see change here in New Jersey we have to get involved locally. The liberal abortion laws in New Jersey mean we can now expect girls from out of state to come here to obtain their abortion. We will be busier than ever and we ask for your prayers and support so that we can roll up our sleeves and continue to serve our clients with an even deeper resolve. I would also like to thank you for your prayers and your concerns for the protection of our facility. We will not be intimidated. We look at this “resistance” as a sign that we are exactly where we need to be. The devil uses fear to cause panic so we quit. Persecution only serves as our motivation to keep going stronger! We did install a comprehensive security system at both the thrift store and the pregnancy center. We also hired a police detail to be at the center in the evenings for 10 days during the week of the announcements. Each were put in place to protect our clients, staff and volunteers. These were costly expenses that were not budgeted for but necessary. In this newsletter I am asking donors to consider underwriting the cost so that it would not affect our operating budget negatively. Honestly, did we think this would be nice? We are hated by the world but we are not of this world! Here’s a scriptural reference 2 Kings 6:15-17 to help remind us who we serve. Remember the words of the prophet to Elisha;

A Better Choice

Unfortunately, it’s not a normal occurrence when we get to tell an adoption story.This month we are delighted to share not only a save from abortion, but a mom who is making a real plan for adoption.
Penny was a repeat client. She had already had a baby with us and had two previous abortions in her past. Penny was struggling with drug addiction, which resulted from her abortions. She is a believer in Christ, however was not walking with Him when she found herself pregnant and desperate to eliminate the pregnancy. Penny came in for several visits that included ultrasound and although she left undecided, she still set up an appointment for the abortion. Early on the morning of her abortion, our staff called her. We wanted to let her know we were praying for her. That’s when Penny told us that she wasn’t going to go through with the abortion. At the time she still didn’t know WHAT she was going to do. After several more sessions at Choices of the Heart, she came to the decision to place her baby with a family who had been looking to have a child for many years. We referred both parties to an adoption agency and an adoption attorney so that they could work out the details. It’s these kinds of stories that spur us on to continue to fight the good fight for these little babies. Stay tuned in the coming months for pictures and testimonies from both families .

Violence will not stop us Heartbeat Intl. has issued a safety advisory to all pregnancy centers nationwide. Online groups have threatened attacks and destroyed the property of a dozen centers and are threatening more violence. We are taking every necessary precaution to insure the safety of our clients, staff and volunteers. We are grateful for your prayers. We will remain steadfast in our commitment to serve those God sends us. Cameras and a high-tech security system have been installed at both the main office and thrift store. A cost of over $20k.
