Happy 30th Anniversary to CLAYMILLS PUMPING STATION

2023 is the thirtieth anniversary of the year when Claymills Pumping Engines Trust was given the keys to the Pumping Station, and began the restoration from its derelict state. Sometimes one looks around and can't believe what has been achieved in that time!

Claymills has to celebrate, so they plan to hold a lot of extra events. The first one will be the return, at the February steaming, of their friend Professor Pumpernickel, with his amazing, explosive science show - fun for all ages, grandparents to be accompanied by a responsible child!

Future attractions will include a workshop with a very talented artist at the May Day steaming, from which they’re really hoping to find some new, personal aspects of Claymills! Later in the year there'll be a one man circus, teaching children his tricks, a jazz band, and possibly a 'Then and Now' display.

Something they’ve never done before, and are very excited about, is a 1940's weekend. The Pumping Station will be ideal for it.

Through late Spring and early Summer, there will be a series of 30th Anniversary talks, and perhaps most importantly for those who know the site well, Claymills are firmly committed to getting engine A, the last of their giant beam engines back into steam, and all four running together for the first time since 1969; yes, that is more than 50 years!

Claymills welcome you to visit and join in the celebrations.
