Aleadingequestrian event bringing togetherhundreds ofschoolandridingclub competitorsfromacrossthe UKis expanding for2023, opening up to awider rangeofentrants.

Entriesare nowopen fortheNational SchoolsandRidingClubs Two-Day Event, whichistheonly eventofitskindintheUK andattracts up to 300riderseachyear.

Nowinits 22nd year,this year’sevent includesanew 70cmclasstoopenitup toa widerfieldof competitors,with anew spectator area introduced to satisfygrowingdemand.

The eventtakes placeacrossMay 27th and 28that Princethorpe College,nearRugby, and isbacked by localfirmsThe WigleyGroupand NewtonLDPasitsreturningmainsponsors.

BudJackson,chairoforganisersStoneleigh RidingClub,said:“Therewas arealappetitefor lastyear’sevent asit wasthefirst since2019 to open to publicandspectators due to thepandemic.

“Wewanted to buildonthat forthis year by opening anew 70cmclassandenhancingthe offering to spectators,andarereallypleased to have thesupportofThe WigleyGroupand NewtonLDPagainthis year to helpusdothat.

“Thisis akey dateintheequine calendar forsomanyschoolandridingclubsacross the country,andthis year’seventis already shapingup to bethebest one yet.”

The‘long format’eventencompasses dressageandshow-jumpingondayone,with roadsandtracks, steeplechaseandcrosscountrydisciplinesrunningondaytwo.

The70cm competitorswillhave ashortened roadsandtracks coursewhich excludes the steeplechase,beforemovingontothe uniquecross-country coursedesignedand built by LloydHuntfromLandS Eventing.

As wellasthenew70cmclass,itisalso open to 80cm,90cmand100cmdisciplines.

Princethorpe FoundationAssistantHead,Alex Darkes,added:“Havingbeeninvolved formany years, we have beendelighted to hostthisevent onthe Princethorpe estate since2015and we celebrateour relationshipwithStoneleighRiding Club,The Wigley GroupandNewtonLDP.

“Particularly excitingthis year istheadditionof the 70cm class,whichmeansthat we willmake the eventaccessible to awider rangeofriders, wholikeothers,will comeback yearafter year.”
