Two months ago 11 Hilton Hotels & Resorts branches across Borneo and the Malaysian Peninsular ushered in the Year of the Water Tiger to great fanfare as the Chinese New Year marked the beginning of our collective strive toward a prosperous year. With the world entering its 3rd year of life with Covid, the popular institution was proud to be able to host the first reunion for many families across the country. Representative of our region’s ability to adapt and keep pushing onwards despite the obstacles of the past 2 years, Asia in general, has now settled in to a New Normal way of life. what we do.

Encouraging this roar of recovery, Hilton Hotels welcomed guests to grand feasts, both at their establishments as well as at home, with a wealth of strong flavours revolving around set menus, themed buffets, and takeaway specials. Jumping on the Zodiacal bandwagon, the masterfullycrafted dishes were flavoured with a bold dimension, aligning with Hilton’s core values of culinary craftsmanship and creative innovation.

Traditionally used to kick-start the festivities, the boisterous Yee Sang food ceremony is always a fun one before the main courses commence, and was highlighted through its sheer diversity of choice. From the classic salmon varieties, to a Rose Apple Yee Sang, and a Tossed Peach Gum, Crispy Rice and Snow Crab Stick Yee Sang, at the Petaling Jaya, and Kuala Lumpur branches respectively, the variety of flavours were immense. Even plant-based lovers had options for a ‘Beyond Meat’ Yee Sang utilising traditional sauces at the Kuala Lumpur’s Chynna, and a vegetarian-fruit Yee Sang from Hilton Garden Inn Puchong’s Garden Grille.

Braised Lobster Meat Soup with Shanghai Crab Meat Sauce. Guangxi-Style Poached FreeRange Chicken. Crispy Roasted Chicken with Prawn Crackers. Espresso Coffee Prawns Topped with Crispy Shredded Fish Fillet. Steamed Live Tiger Grouper with Homemade Soy Sauce and Parsley. Wok Seared Japanese Miyazaki Wagyu. Sliced Abalone with Sea Cucumber and Green Asparagus. These were all but a portion of so much more on offer. Enough to make me call a technician due to the damage my keyboard suffered from my excessive drooling out of a wish to be there. Some 10 minutes and a large empty pack of tissues later, I can finally say Happy belated Chinese New Year Hilton Hotels and Resorts, and everybody who celebrates. From BiG Magazine: Huat Ah!
