VYSA is pleased to announce that Virginia is set to be the first state association to combine previously competing State Cups into a singular event co-hosted by Virginia Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer!

VYSA is grateful to the leadership of US Club Soccer for their collaboration on this project that will provide the soccer clubs, teams and families in Virginia with a best-in-class event. This reimagined State Cup is open to competitive teams registered to VYSA/US Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer. There is a pathway for the top finishing teams from each sanctioning organization to participate further in the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series and US Club Soccer National Cup.

IMPROVING THE GAME

On Wednesday, July 18, VYSA hosted twenty four Virginia Coach Educators for a workshop at James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg, VA. These coaches are all certified as Coach Educational Instructors through USYS and US Club Soccer The coaches participated in both classroom sessions and gym presentations.

The purpose of the workshop was to equip coach educators with updated materials, strategies, and a curriculum relevant to VYSA coaching courses

These instructors will go out to the Virginia club system to conduct coaching courses for everyone who wants continued education.

The workshop was a valuable opportunity to bring together coaching educators, from all over the state, in order to further the development of the Virginia coaching community. With a robust team of coach educators ready to deliver courses, VYSA invites any organization seeking coaching development opportunities for their members to contact VYSA.

To schedule a two-hour, complimentary C4C session for your coaches, please contact Jessica Cottet at jessica@vysacom

WHYDOPARENTS ENROLLTHEIR CHILDRENINSOCCER?

U.S. Soccer is conducting a research project in collaboration with Northwestern University. The purpose of the project is to learn about parents' reasons for enrolling their children in soccer

The information gathered from your participation will help the US Soccer Federation promote soccer’s popularity in the United States by highlighting the benefits of playing and participating in soccer. More interest in soccer will lead to easier access to play, elevation of the standard of play in the United States, and a number of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial benefits for those who choose to play soccer.

If you participate in this research project, the data submitted will be anonymously analyzed and will be used for research purposes only.

View the consent form above for full details about the study

If you have any questions about the study, please contact the Director of Research and Innovation at U S Soccer, Dr José M Oliva Lozano, at jlozano@ussoccer.org.
