OLD ABE STATE TRAIL 37 MILES

The Old Abe State Trail begins in Cornell, WI, which is the most northern point of the trail system spanning from Brunet Island State Park to Lake Wissota State Park while following the banks of the Chippewa River. Visitors love the natural landscape of tree-filled forests and farm fields. The trail is paved and open year round. During winter, this section of trail is not groomed, which means it is the perfect condition for fat tire biking or snowshoeing.

CHIPPEWA RIVER STATE TRAIL 31 MILES

Cyclists begin this section at the confluence of Chippewa and Eau Claire Rivers. This portion of the trail system begins in Downtown Eau Claire and concludes in the community of Durand. Vistors find both paved and graded pathways as they continue their journey alongside the Chippewa River for 31 miles.

HICKORY RIDGE TRAILS 20 MILES

Embark on an unforgettable journey along Hickory Ridge Trail, a gateway to Chippewa County Forest's captivating kettle lakes and undulating terrain.

NOTE: Bikers ages 16+ are required to have a state trail pass. Passes can be purchased at the Chippewa Falls Visitor Center or Spring Street Sports for $25/year or $5/day.

CHIPPEWA RIVER TOUR

As you travel on the Chippewa River Tour, there are a number of different things to see and do. Pass through downtown Chippewa Falls offering many historic landmarks, an array of attractions, as well as many culinary delights. These include: Leinenkugel’s Brewery, Mason Shoe Outlet Store, Irvine Park, the Cook-Rutledge Mansion, and Olson’s Ice Cream - just to name a few. As you continue to drive, enjoy the exquisite views of the Chippewa River and Lake Wissota. Pass by Xcel Energy’s Jim Falls Hydropower Plant where Old Abe, the war eagle, still stands guard. Approximately 18 miles.

ORCHARDS TOUR

You will be amazed at the natural beauty that the Orchards Tour has to offer. While traveling through the countryside, take in breathtaking views of several apple orchards and stop to enjoy a taste of locally made fruit wine at Dixon’s Autumn Harvest Winery. Enjoy the orchards all year long whether by viewing the apple blossoms in the Spring or enjoying a tasty treat in the Fall. Approximately 14 miles.

BRUNET ISLAND TOUR

The Brunet Island takes you past some awe inspiring views including the Chippewa County Forest, Brunet Island State Park, and the only remaining pulpwood stacker. A section of the trail is part of the Rustic Roads program as designated by the Rustic Roads Board which makes this tour truly unique. Approximately 18 miles.

DUNCAN CREEK TRAIL A five mile paved loop through Chippewa Falls; ideal for biking and in-line skating. This trail connects to the Old Abe State Trail and the Riverview Reserve Trail, both Northeast of Cty Hwy I. Portions of this trail are shared with street traffic.

RIVERVIEW RESERVE TRAIL Paved and unpaved trails criss-cross through the Reserve and provide great viewing opportunities of the Xcel Energy Dam. This trail connects to the Duncan Creek Trail and Old Abe State Trail and is located East of Seymour Cray Boulevard.

No trail passes required on Duncan Creek Trail or Riverview Reserve Trail. maps.google.com provides the most accurate and up-to-date trail mapping capabilities.
