The city of Tulsa is 201.8 sq miles. It is the 47th most populous city in the U.S.- the population was 413,066 as of the 2020 census. As of 2019, There are 187,655 homes inside city limits. Whether you want to live within walking distance to a park, right beside a a golf course, down the street from the best restaurants, or a bike ride away from work, there are plenty of great neighborhoods in Tulsa that you’ll love to call home.

DOWNTOWN

Downtown Tulsa sub-districts include the Blue Dome District, the Brady Arts District, the “Oil Capital Historic District”, and ONEOK Field.

MIDTOWN

Midtown Tulsa is loved for historical homes, multiple parks, mature trees, and many locally-owned businesses.

SOUTH

Developed since the 1970s, South Tulsa is marked by secluded homes and suburban neighborhoods- bounded by Bixby, Jenks, and Broken Arrow.

EAST

Made up of a large section east extending south to Broken Arrow. Attractions include Redbud Valley Nature Preserve.

Tulsa Parks

Tulsa Parks manages 135 parks covering roughly 6,553 acres. This includes the Redbud Valley Nature Preserve, two specialty centers, and six community centers with various amenities including, fitness facilities, gymnasiums, art studio space and meeting rooms. There are 57 miles of walking trails, two skate parks, three dog parks, and five swimming pools. In addition, there are 227 sports fields*, 99 playgrounds, 94 tennis courts, 8 outdoor pickleball courts, 13 water playgrounds, 18 splash pads, 96 picnic shelters, 4 golf courses and 8 disc golf courses.

Gathering Place is an award-winning 66.5-acre park along the Arkansas River designed by a world-renowned landscape architect. At $465 million, Gathering Place is the largest private gift to a community park in U.S. history. This one-of-a-kind hybrid park offers unique, free experiences for all ages and abilities.

3. Woodward

A series of parks along the Arkansas river including the urban wilderness of Turkey Mountain, the 41st Street Plaza offering a splashpad, playground, & disc golf, and River West Festival Park where some of Tulsa’s largest events are held.

A developing museum with interactive displays sharing stories of the people who built the Greenwood District, or “Black Wall Street” of the early 1900’s.

The Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art is 13,700 sq ft of exhibit space and houses the largest collection of Jewish art in the Southwestern United States.

The Tulsa Air & Space Museum (TASM) has 19,000 sq ft of historical exhibits, hands-on activities, and vintage aircraft. It also has a full-dome planetarium and educational facilities for schools, summer camps, and Scout groups.

Also known as the Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art; houses the world’s largest, most comprehensive collection of art of the American West, and a growing collection of art and artifacts from Central and South America.

Expansive formal gardens, hosting numerous yearly events and exhibitions. Opened in 1939, located in the 1920s “Villa Philbrook”, the home of oil pioneers Waite and Genevieve Phillips- close to Brookside.

Tulsa’s classic Drive-In theater, featuring dual 9-story screens and a full concession kitchen. A Tulsa favorite, started in 1951.

ADMIRAL TWIN

The Oklahoma Aquarium is 72,000-sq ft public aquarium opened in 2003 in Jenks. It is the largest aquarium attraction in the four-state area. Today, the biology team is recognized for its bull shark research and groundbreaking coral research.

The Drillers are a Tulsa’s minor league baseball team based at OneOK field in downtown. They are the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and are a local favorite for showing fireworks after home games in the summer months.

TULSA DRILLERS

The First Friday Art Crawl is held on the first Friday of every month and features all of the galleries, studios, and museums as well as restaurant and shops staying open late in the Arts District.

FIRST FRIDAY ROUTE 66

Tulsa is a major stop on Route 66, and has many attractions along the Mother Road that make a great day trip- the Blue Whale, POPS, Buck Atom’s, Tally’s Cafe, Totem Pole Park, the Golden Driller, and more classic landmarks.
