Desborough Castle - Chilforts

The end of 2022 saw the closure of an amazing project which we have been proud to be part of.

Beacons of the Past a lottery funded multiyear multi-partner project was launched at Desborough Castle - a scheduled ancient monument in Castlefield, High Wycombe and has gone on to do some incredible things under the stewardship and guidance of Dr Wendy Morrison and her colleague Dr Ed Peveler.

Beacons of the Past has supported us to create a new management plan for the site and undertaken some works to help preserve the monument into the future and encourage the use and enjoyment of the site. The photos are of some tree works which were recommended from the plan and we got them sorted thanks to our partners at Dickinson Tree Services.

We look forward to more positive sessions at Desborough Castle with Karima Scouts and Castlefield School in 2023.

One thing we pray for though, is that people stop treating it as dump and for anti social activities. Already there are 3 mattresses there which we will clear away in the new year...

We will be looking to get lots more local people to help us look out for this place. Let us know if you’re up for the challenge or indeed if you run a community group who would like to give back too.
