Vision

We believe in a San Francisco where every child is able to reach their full potential and thrive.

Mission

By advocating for quality early care and education, empowering families with information and financial support, and building the capabilities of educators, we ensure that every child in San Francisco has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Building on more than 45 years of work at the heart of child care in San Francisco, we are proud to share Children’s Council’s new strategic plan, which articulates our aspirations, prioritizes areas of investment, and lays out an action plan for the next five years.

With a renewed state and national focus on child care and early childhood education – particularly as our society grapples with the extraordinary impact of the COVID crisis – and a recognition of the changing demographics of the city of San Francisco, we believed this was the optimal time to engage in a thoughtful strategic planning process that would result in high impact, transformational change over the next five years, on behalf of the children and families of San Francisco.

This process yielded a community-centered strategic plan that clearly lays out our new Vision and Mission, Anna Nordberg identifies specific areas of investment (Core Focus Areas), the Goals we aim to achieve by making those investments, and the Actions we intend to resource in pursuit of our Goals.

We identified four Core Focus Areas to invest in over the next five years:

1. Organizational Culture and Employee Experience

2. Excellence in Systems, Infrastructure and Financial Health

3. Program Design, Innovation and Impact

4. Advocacy and Community Building

By executing this strategic plan, Children’s Council, its Board, staff, funders and partners will be working hard together to make our aspirational Vision a reality for children and families in San Francisco. We look forward to updating you on our progress.

Sincerely,

Gina M. Fromer CEO, Children’s Council of San Francisco

Anna Nordberg Board Chair, Children’s Council of San Francisco
