an orang-utan
1 Let’s start by drawing a triangle in the middle of the page. Make the corners nice and round.
4 Draw a line across the inside of the bottom shape, turned up at the ends, for a smiling mouth. Add two dots at the very top of the same shape for nostrils.
7 Now draw the hands – fingers and thumbs all sticking out this time, just like I have done here.
2 Give that triangle shape a hat like you see here. It almost looks like a mushroom, doesn’t it?
5 Surround your orang-utan’s head with a big shaggy shape made up of a curved line on each side with a lump at the top. Add a tuft of hair at the very top.
8 Every orang-utan needs a banana! Add one by drawing curved points sticking out from the top and bottom of his hand and colouring in the tips.
3 In the top of the mushroom shape, add two circles with dots inside them for eyes with lots of curved lines radiating out from them. Add two small oblong shapes for eyebrows.
6 An orang-utan’s feet are almost shaped like hands. Draw two sets of four fingers and a thumb at the bottom of the body, and then join it all up with a straight line.
9 Finally, it’s time for some colour. My great ape is orange, with a yellow banana, but yours can be any colour you like!
