In memory of Averill Strasser and his legacy in the Southern Highlands of Peru
Dear friends at Water Charity,
On behalf of the entire Chijnaya Foundation family we want to extend our deepest condolences for the loss of our dear friend Averill Strasser.
The following report celebrates the accomplishments of the partnership between our two organizations during the last seven years. We firmly believe that these achievements were catalyzed by Averill’s investment in our projects. Water Charity’s sustained support of our shared vision is allowing us to address extreme poverty in underserved Andean communities.
We want to thank you for your belief in our mission and we will continue to honor his legacy through our partnership together.

Averill was an impressive individual, a true Renaissance man. My contact with him was via Water Charity. He was an early supporter of water-related projects of The Chijnaya Foundation in Peruvian communities. His leadership in tackling quality water scarcities around the world stands as testimony to a life well-lived, in service to others. He was a true humanitarian, and one who took a no-nonsense approach to engaging in projects that would bene t so many people in regions where water de ciencies cause so much su ering.
Ralph Bolton Founder and Emeritus President, The Chijnaya Foundation
I had the pleasure of getting to know Averill through his philanthropic work. Water Charity supported 10 water infrastructure projects in the Altiplano of Peru through the Chijnaya Foundation and I worked with the communities to design and implement their projects under this grant. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to see rst hand how Averill's support of these community-driven projects improved people's lives. We were able to bring running water to rural households, help farmers grow crops during the dry season with irrigation systems, and build bathrooms with solar thermal water heaters. These projects not only helped improve community health, but also helped provide more income to farmers and supported rural tourism associations as they worked to improve accommodations and tourism in their communities. I am grateful to have seen how Averill's kindness and hard work through Water Charity made a positive di erence in the world.
