It is a privilege to present the following yearbook of the 2024 Pro-DIA Scholarship Program. It documents not only the e ort and dedication of our students, but also the profound impact that education can have on their lives and the communities to which they belong.
Since its inception, the Scholarship Program has been a fundamental pillar in our mission to provide educational opportunities to talented young people from the Peruvian highlands, who, despite the obstacles and challenges, have demonstrated a strong commitment to their studies and their communities. During 2024 we have witnessed inspiring stories of self-improvement, dreams ful lled and goals achieved.

Your support has enabled our scholarship recipients to not only pursue higher education to pursue a career, but also to become agents of change and leaders committed to the development of their communities.

We hope you will take pleasure and inspiration from the enclosed report on the Scholarship Program. Your generosity has allowed 44 young women and men in the 42 communities of Chijnaya network to pursue their aspirations for higher education this year.
Our special thanks to the ProDIA Sta for their implementation of a rigorous selection process and their support of the Musoq Riqchari student association. The projects developed by the scholars create a vital link between the students and their engagement with the challenges of rural Andean life.
This year 17 “Named” Scholarships were awarded. The “Named” Scholarships are crucial to the sustainability of this program and a wonderful way to honor or remember a loved one. The Scholarship Program has become a support for access to higher education for young people in rural communities in the department of Puno. During the current year 2024, the young scholarship recipients have demonstrated their commitment not only to the acquisition of academic knowledge, but also to the positive transformation of their communities. The following are the projects that are being implemented:
This project, implemented in the town center of Ccotos, was aimed at providing vocational support and guidance to fourth and fth year high school students. The scholarship recipients gave workshops on the importance of planning a life project and the di erent educational opportunities available.
This project was focused on supporting the Wichay Pukara Association, which includes more than 50 members from di erent communities, in the marketing of handicrafts and tourism products through digital media.
In collaboration with the National University of Juliaca (UNAJ), the grantees participated in the organization of workshops and technical visits for members of the Coarita Association. These activities focused on training in industrial processes.

What is your principal motivation for higher education?
To improve personally and professionally to help my parents. Also, to be able to help the children of Pucara and those of my community to develop better in sports, psychomotor skills and improve their physical education.
What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them?
The biggest challenge was not knowing what to study or
what to do with my life, but thanks to my beloved sport of volleyball, I chose to study physical education.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?
Personally, the scholarship supports me to obtain the materials that the professors ask of us. As for in my community, the scholarship is helping all of those children who are making an effort in their studies, they feel motivated and supported by the Pro-DIA scholarship.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I already see myself studying another degree that will compliment my career to be a successful professional.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of school?
I like to read and play sports like volleyball.

The scholarship supports me financially to finish my studies and to serve my community. In my community, it provides great support to young people who do not have the financial means to continue their higher education.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself doing my specialty residency and also contributing financially to my family.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of school?
In my free time I like to play volleyball with friends and family. I also like to watch a good movie or series.

What is your principal motivation for higher education? My greatest motivation is to be a professional and to help my community, people and society by contributing the knowledge and skills I learn.

First I had to prepare myself thoroughly, since I did not have the means to access a good education.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?
It will help me meet the basic needs for acquiring new knowledge and allow me to give small assistance to livestock producers.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself finishing my professional degree and with the desire to continue learning so that I can contribute to my community.

I play basketball and in my free time I like to read novels.

What is your principal motivation for higher education? I am motivated to fulfill my dreams and make my mother's dreams come true.
What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them?
My main challenge was the economy, not living with my father, being alone, studying away from home, etc., I overcame it because life has taught me that if you want something you have to fight with or without the support of your parents, you are the owner of your life and how you want to achieve it.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community? Personally, it improves my educational quality, it will allow me to continue my studies and to to continue studying and to continue with my higher education, as well as in my economy, in my community, to cover some issues and to be able to solve them.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself in my career as a teacher giving my best for my students and thus forming successful citizens of the world.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of school?
Doing art such as drawing and painting and traveling.

What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them? Knowledge and skills deficiency. I overcame it by preparing myself more.

The scholarship will support me financially to achieve my profession as well as teach me how to do small social projects. It will help several students in my community who are pursuing higher education to complete their studies, since many of them drop out due to lack of money to cover their expenses.

The first year of college is like an invitation to understand the expectations and the reality of college. What I imagined as a career can be very different from what it really is. I had doubts, but doubts are to be expected. Therefore, they should not be considered as a negative or problematic aspect, but as part of the process of integration into the university.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?
This scholarship will help me in the university stage of my life.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Working as a General Practitioner.

What is your principal motivation for higher education?
My motivation for pursuing higher education in nutrition comes from my experience with family members who suffer, or have suffered, from the effects of poor nutrition. In addition, I have had the opportunity to hear iabout the crucial importance of proper nutrition in the recovery of hospitalized patients.
What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them?
Originally, living in Juliaca in my grandmother's house and having classes in Puno in the morning complicated my punctuality, as the trip was long and sometimes I did not arrive on time for classes. Previously, I would get up at 4 a.m. to make sure I arrived early. However, now that I have rented a room in Puno, distance is no longer an issue. Despite this, I still face financial difficulties in covering the cost of rent.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?
This scholarship will reduce the financial burden I face in paying for my higher education. By being able to pay the rent for my room in Puno, I will be able to devote more resources to educational materials that will enhance my academic experience.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I see myself as a highly specialized clinical nutritionist, committed to providing quality and ethical care to my patients. In addition to my clinical practice, I will be a pillar of support for my family, providing both emotional and financial support. My training and experience in nutrition will allow me to help my loved ones adopt healthier eating habits and maintain a balanced lifestyle. I will also continue to be an active figure in my community, participating in initiatives that promote health and wellness.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of school?
One of my favorite pastimes is playing volleyball. I also enjoy walking outdoors. Walking gives me the opportunity to clear my mind.

What is your principal motivation for higher education?
To be a quality professional, so that I can contribute to society in a series of specific functions and be seen by others in a different way.
What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them?
The challenges I had to access higher education were that it took me several times of applying before I was finally accepted. The process was very hard, because emotionally I did was afraid of failure each time that I applied. But I overcame it by studying more and more and by believing and having faith in myself that I can do it. That's the way I was able to move forward.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your
It will have a positive impact because it will help me economicallywith the needs I have. It is also beneficial for my community because it will allow me to positively contribute to it.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
A full-fledged professional. I see myself teaching in schools or higher institutions with students.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of school?
Sports and work, because when the opportunity arises I choose to do sporting activities, help my parents at home, and go to work so that I can contribute to the needs I have to continue studying.

What is your principal motivation for higher education? My main motivation to pursue my higher education is the need to contribute to society as a good anthropologist, the desire to improve as a person and citizen and the motivation to get ahead and support my family.
What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them?
The challenge I faced was applying to college. My parents did not have enough money for this process, I overcame it thanks to the effort my parents made and my dedication.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?
The impact of this scholarship in my life will be wonderful, since it will help me with university materials such as books, food, and it will also help me pay for the place where I currently rent. The impact on my community will be that as a person I will be more integrated into it because I will want to know more about my community.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I see myself as a good anthropologist going out into the field to gather information and integrate myself into the community or place to understand the cultural impact of each place and the needs they have and contribute to society for the betterment of society.

The student competition was my main challenge. I overcome it by trusting in myself, facing fear and looking it as a goal to overcome the challenges.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?
This scholarship is a very valuable opportunity for me, as it will allow me to overcome my financial barriers and will also have a positive impact for my community. I am committed to using my knowledge and skills acquired during my study to help others achieve their dreams and goals.

I will be working professionally as an accountant and I am sure that I will have a much deeper and broader knowledge. I plan to be very enthusiastic about contributing to my community.

What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them?
The challenges that arose were difficulties in covering the costs of tuition, books, supplies and other expenses associated with higher education. I overcame this by learning to persevere, work hard and never give up on my dreams. I am confident that the skills and experiences I have gained will help me succeed in college and in my professional life.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?

What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them?
Insufficiencies regarding financial resources. I need to be aware of them to overcome them.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?
I will have more time to investigate about the topics that I am taught and therefore be able to give guidance about the correct preventive diagnosis in the mechatronic system sof all the tractors in my community.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Working in my mechatronics diagnostic laboratory. And giving preventive orientation courses on mechatronic diagnostics in my community so that their tractors are operational.

Personally, it helps me financially and emotionally to successfully complete my university studies. As far as my community is concerned, it shows that there is support for young people who want to study and pursue higher education, and it is also a reason for parents to encourage their children to study.

To be able to help society by seeing the current contaminations that affect us as a society as well as our community.
What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them?
The challenge was not being able to enter the university, but I knew I had to study more in order to be accepted. Then,
my monthly income was not enough, so I started working Saturdays and Sundays and Monday through Friday I studied. The ProDIA Association scholarship helped me even more.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?
It will help me to be able to continue studying at the university to support my expenses and I will be able to help my community with the knowledge I gained while studying.

Being a university graduate, doing projects, evaluating pollution and how I can mitigate pollution little by little with the knowledge that I gain to help improve the quality of life of society.

The competition for access to higher education, the lack of financial resources. I overcame it by preparing and studying, giving my best effort to achieve it.

It encourages me to keep going, because nowadays everything has gone up in price and thanks to the support that the scholarship gives me I can sustain myself. I am working to get good grades so that I can finish my degree and practice it within my community.

My main motivation is my family and of course the integrity of society. By training as a professional I will be very useful for social good.
What challenges have you faced to access higher education and how did you overcome them?
There were many challenges, such as not being able to get into a national university, since vacancies are scarce, and not having many universities in my region. Also, the economy has been a necessary factor to pursue university studies privately and outside the region.
What impact do you think that this scholarship will have in your life and your community?
This scholarship has a great impact on my life, both as a person and as a professional in training, because it is very helpful and provides support to students who really need it. In my community it has a more practical impact, since I will utilize everything I have learned in my studies, putting it into practice in my community.

I see myself with the necessary conviction to help and fulfill my role as a lawyer, defending the interests of justice and society, thus my primary objective is to respect of the rights of each person.

I struggled to understand some courses such as physics and chemistry. To get into college I had to make an effort to obtain a scholarship since my parents were not in a position to support me financially, but they supported me in any way that they could.

What is your principal motivation for higher education? My main motivation to study at the university is to improve myself. I decided to study psychology because I saw a society around me that lacks mental health, and therefore needs psychological help. I also saw many people who suffer either from sexual, physical and psychological violence and often cannot access psychological help: my motivation is to be a great psychologist and be able to help them.

One of the main challenges I had was financial, since the university where I study is very expensive. I managed to overcome it by working more hours to be able to pay for my studies.

My motivation began with my love for animals, from there I gradually saw that it is not only important to love and give affection to these species, but to focus on animal health, feeding, reproduction techniques, and to diagnose the sick animal, both as small and large animals.

The biggest challenge was when the pandemic started, the highschools were virtual and the internet was needed and there wasn’t a good connection. This meant that there were difficulties to learn and I was unable to prepare myself for one year. I helped my mother and father in what I could to survive, since everything was very expensive. In October 2021 I entered the CEPRE UNA to be able to prepare myself and later enter college.

It will help me financially to be able to pay for materials, books, food, etc. Apart from the economic support, it is a motivation to continue studying and to be able to be a great professional. I will be able to contribute knowledge to my community, providing practical services.
