INTRODUCTION Dear friends, Please join us in celebrating the achievements and talent of the students of the 2023 Scholarship Program of the Chijnaya Foundation and Pro DIA Association!

It is an honor to present the 2023 yearbook, where we highlight our scholarship recipients.

Our scholarship program was born in 2007 with the support of the Chijnaya Foundation and is designed especially to support young people from rural communities and organizations that are part of our Pro DIA Network. All of the students are pursuing higher education, either in universities or technical institutes, public or private, nationally or internationally. They are often the first person in their families to have access to higher education.

At the Pro DIA Association, we firmly believe in the transformative power of education and in the ability of our young people to create a prosperous and productive future. Through the scholarship program, we seek to provide them with a small amount of support so that they can achieve their academic and professional goals.

This year, we are proud to have 38 scholarship recipients in our program. Of these, 23 are continuing beneficiaries who have qualified for continued support. In addition there are 15 new recipients. It is significant to note the greater presence of women among the recipients: 25 women versus 13 men. In addition, our scholarship recipients are distributed across different educational institutions, with 28 students pursuing university studies and the remainder in technical institutes. In addition the students come from 13 different communities throughout the Chijnaya/ProDIA network. Thanks to your investment in our programs we are able to support this diverse and talented community of scholarship recipients in their pursuit of academic achievement.

Inside this yearbook, you will find profiles of the scholarship recipients as well as brief descriptions of their interests and aspirations. You will also find information and photos of the activities carried out by the Musoq Riqchari (Quechua word for New Dawn) Scholarship Recipients Association. The student association promotes projects proposed and implemented by the scholarship program. This year the projects include tutoring grade school students in the rural communities, assisting local entrepreneurs with internet access and promotion, sharing knowledge about how to care for the environment, and providing mental health assistance to families, among others.

ProDIA team wishes to thank the donors, the team of professionals and other collaborators, whose unconditional support has allowed young people to access educational opportunities that previously seemed unattainable. As a result of your efforts you have contributed to a substantial reduction in the existing gap in in acces to higher education in the rural areas of the Peruvian altiplano.

SUMMARY OF PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED BY 2023 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

The Scholarship Program has become a support for access to higher education for young people in rural communities in the department of Puno. During the current year 2023, the young scholarship recipients have demonstrated their commitment not only to the acquisition of academic knowledge, but also to the positive transformation of their communities.The following are the projects that are being implemented: 1. First Aid Training in the Communities of Qquepa and Tuni Grande: In an environment where access to healthcare facilities can be overwhelming, scholarship recipients have become facilitators of vital knowledge. They have been conducting talks in the communities of Qquepa and Tuni Grande (Pucara district) on first aid and appropriate responses to medical emergencies.This project not only empowers the communities to face critical situations, but also strengthens social organization.

2. Industrial Processes Training and Technical Workshops for Members of Pucara, Choquehuanca and Coarita Associations: In a quest to boost local economic development, the grantees have taken the initiative to training members of various associations in industrial processes related to their productive activities.Through workshops and technical visits to dairy, cereal and bakery production plants, they are facilitating access to technical knowledge that empowers communities to take advantage of their natural resources and raw materials in an effective way, generating and promoting sustainable development.

3. Project “Discover Your Passion”: The future of rural communities depends largely on their youth. With this in mind, the grantees have designed a vocational orientation project aimed at 4th and 5th year students of the Institución Educativa Superior del Centro Poblado de Ccotos (Capachica district). These talks help young people make informed decisions about their future university or technical careers.

In addition, academic reinforcement is provided to bolster their knowledge and preparation.

4. Reqsiway Project: The digital age has reached even the most remote communities. The grantees are working closely with the WICHAY Handmade Yarn Association on an ongoing project to improve the visibility of artisanal ventures through digital media. By implementing online strategies, such as fan pages, Instagram, websites and Google My Business, they are bringing these artisanal products and services into the digital world, increasing their competitiveness and value in today's marketplace. These projects are testament to the power of higher education when combined with a passion for community service. Scholars are not only forging their own paths to academic success, but they are also strengthening and empowering their communities.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years: To be a leader in my community and have a stable job, and to help my community and those most in need, which are the children and the elderly.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years: I see myself as a teacher, a trainer who contributes to education in the country in the places where it is most needed (rural), educating citizens with values for the development of the country.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years: First of all, my goal is to finish my career, and by the end of 5 years I see myself as a professional, working in a public or private entity, and as a professional I will always be supporting my community of Coarita.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years: I see myself in a stable work environment, with travel and therefore helping many people.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years: I am excited about why I want to achieve my goal of becoming a teacher, because in five years, I am sure that I will have much deeper and broader knowledge about pedagogical practice and I know that this is something that I could only achieve through my experience with children via my internship. In the coming years, I would like to take on greater responsibilities and even direct my own Early Childhood Educational Institution or my own kindergarten.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years: I see myself practicing pyschology with a specialization. I have a great desire to do my master's degree outside the country. I see myself contributing to my district through projects focused on the promotion of mental health, since these last years we have been living complicated situations that affect the life and personal development of people, therefore, I think there’s a lot to work on in favor of mental health.
